@sarcasticowl @prudence9-2 I asked about ERA today and my RE didn’t say anything about it not being an option in NYS. When I brought it up, he said our clinic doesn’t do it because it’s not been proven enough. So it sounded like it could be an option if they chose to offer it, but who knows? Maybe there’s a professional group in NYS that’s taken a stand against it for now until there’s more evidence, and that’s what’s going on? I didn’t ask him about the NYS thing directly since he’d already said no to ERA so I don’t have a better answer, unfortunately.

@prudence9-2 Yep, it was. We are probably going to do another ER in January since we’re down to our last embie, possibly PGS testing this time, and then a FET in February. I’m following you, but I can’t remember exactly which thread you’re on now. Are you doing December or January FET? (Sorry, mobile or I could see your soggy!)

@prudence9-2 ah right! I’m so sorry this is your last normie. When do you find out the results of your ERA? I really hope it gives you a good plan and this is your sticky bean. You’ve been through a lot this year! I follow the January FET and I’m cheering you on.

@Bababatty Thanks for following up! My RE did say that each cycle is different so the ERA is great only for determining what's happening during THAT cycle, and they don't transfer (obviously) during ERA cycles so what real information are they gathering? I still wish I had that option, though, because the desire to throw the kitchen sink at our issues is STRONG.

He also mentioned that there are new doubts about PGS testing, which I have read in other threads here, and whether it is as accurate as they once thought or hoped. He said that some of the errors in the chromosome can and do fix themselves so embryos are being discarded that might be just fine. He also said there's a theory that PGS-tested embryos are more fragile because of being traumatized by the biopsy process. I wanted to say "gee, I wish I had heard this before we shelled out thousands of dollars for PGS earlier this year" but I kept my mouth shut. Grrrrrrr.

@Bababatty I will probably find out the results in about 2 weeks... In the meantime, I will start prep for FET cycle... meaning start taking BCP on day 2 of my period...

@sarcasticowl I also read about PGS abnormal embryos might be able to correct themselves... ahhh... I have 4 abnormals... do I use them if my last normal fails??

AFM... back from second ERA biopsy... they don't tell you that, but boy is the second one hurts more! I think it is mostly because the entire area is still wounded from the biopsy from 2 days ago... but oh boy... so painful....
Got home, immediately took out the estrogen patches... set on my sofa still in pain.... now just had some chocolate and will def drink something strong tonite!!

@sarcasticowl Do we have the same RE because mine said the exact same thing.

Although he didn’t say that about PGS. Hmmm we should do some more research. We didn’t test our current embies because my RE doesn’t recommend it for people in their early 30s, but he has changed his tune slightly after our two failures.

@prudence9-2 Ouch! I’m sorry about your 2nd ERA! I’ve heard even the first is pretty rough so I imagine 2 biopsies in short order is even worse. Personally I think I’d find it easier to transfer a PGS-abnormal embie because my expectations would be lower so if money is no option, I’d probably consider it.

@Bababatty hopefully my last PGS normal will stick. But in my age (just turned 42) don’t think I’ll be able to try out something that might remain abnormal... no time to waste at 42+

@prudence9-2 Did you pay out of pocket for your Neupogen? I just got my prior authorization denied by insurance (automated phone call) and I’ll find out why when I get a letter next week but I assume it’s because it’s being used off-label. I’m pretty sure I don’t want to use it anyway but I’m curious if yours was covered and if not, what I’m looking at OOP cost-wise.

@sarcasticowl neupogen is not covered for fertility. So you’ll have to pay. I think one vial (5 days worth of injections) is about $800 or more. Note sure. I ended up paying about $85 per vial as part of a government subsidies program that your clinic might be eligible for. (I think non profit places are eligible). Anyway, the name of the program is: 340B. Google it...

@prudence9-2 Holy crap that’s a lot. My clinic isn’t non-profit so I’m sure there’s no way to get it 90% covered but I really, really appreciate you telling me about it! Checking it off the “nope, not worth it” category. We have no reason to believe my immune system is to blame for anything so we’ll shelve that for now.

@sarcasticowl actually there is another way to get a cheaper meds. Have your clinic order it from a clinic that is part of the goodrx.com website. And it might be much cheaper! I got Lupron that way for $180 (I think) instead of $500!!!
