Re: High Risk Check-In 12/5

  • How far along are you?
    10 weeks!

    Why are you considered high-risk?
Type 1 Diabetes (for over 20 years)

Any additional monitoring or testing this week?
Starting my endo appts on Thursday. They did agree to allow me to be seen every 3-4 weeks this go around instead of every 2. It became very expensive and very difficult to make it to so many appts. last time. Not to mention the OB and MFM appts on top of those!

    Any concerns/news currently?
    None.

What positives are you seeing with your pregnancy today?
MS is lessening *some* the last few days. RLP makes this pregnancy feel a bit more real too :)

GTKY: If you celebrate Christmas, do you get a live tree or artificial tree? Colored lights or white lights? Any other special traditions involving the tree?
Always a real tree! With LOTS of colored lights. My grandparents used to give all the grandkids ornaments each year so each of those has a special place on the tree every year.
  • How far along are you?
    8 wks

    Why are you considered high-risk?
previous loss, endo, hypothyroid, lost of complications with DS.

Any additional monitoring or testing this week?
third U/S next Monday for dating

    Any concerns/news currently?
    wondering if SCH has passed.

What positives are you seeing with your pregnancy today?
symptoms continue so that a plus. I can see a small bump when i lay down.

GTKY: If you celebrate Christmas, do you get a live tree or artificial tree? Colored lights or white lights? Any other special traditions involving the tree?
Real tree with white lights. Every year we buy a new ornament for each. We have been doing this since we got married. Eventually our tree will be filled with personality picked ornaments.

  • @wildtot Sounds a lot like my tree, minus the light choice ;) And kudos on the small bump! Mine is still well hidden under the baby weight I didn't have a chance to lose with DD :D
  • @TalesOfASocialIntrovert I like colored lights but DH is more on the white not sure why.
I’ve been pretty disconnected with this pregnancy due to past experiences that i hope the bump come earlier this time so i can actually enjoy it.
  • @wildtot I can relate to that disconnect. For me, I'm sure in part bc I won't have an US until I see my MFM around week 18 and haven't even been to the OB yet. Hopefully an early bump means early kicks too, those always make it feel real!  :)
  • @TalesOfASocialIntrovert wow 18 wks! Id go insane. Will you be seeing your OB before then? I started feeling kicks at 16 wks last time. That’s probably what i miss the most of being pregnant.
  • @wildtot I see the OB at 11 + 2 and should hear the HB on doppler. I had 2 US with DD due to bleeding at 6 and 8 weeks. Since its my second go around it doesn't seem as bad as waiting in the first pregnancy! Plus, once I see the MFM, I'll be scheduled for monthly US until about 30-32 weeks, then it's every 2 weeks. So lots of chances to see this LO  ;)
  • @TalesOfASocialIntrovert with my son i had so many complications that i went in every two weeks and after 32 wks i went twice a week. Hope it’s less eventful this time.
  • @wildtot In the beginning, the thought of so much monitoring doesn't sound so bad but then it begins to feel like you just live there!! I will also have twice weekly NSTs starting at 30-32 weeks  :o
  • @TalesOfASocialIntrovert agree, it was nice getting all those pics. My doc made bank with me haha. I was happy to at least leave the house since i was on bedrest.
  • How far along are you? 7 weeks2 days

Why are you considered high-risk? History of early MC

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? I had an US Monday and tuesday while they monitor my subchorionic hemorrhaging. The baby measures fine though

Any concerns/news currently? I am on full fledged bedrest until further notice. This SUCKS. Also today I started crying when my toddler had to leave the room (she was ugly crying lol) because I can't take care of her like this.  I have never spent a full day away from her in her whole life. This is heart wrenching.

What positives are you seeing with your pregnancy today? The US look good. I am super bummed about bedrest, but the baby is more important than my comfort

GTKY: If you celebrate Christmas, do you get a live tree or artificial tree? Colored lights or white lights? Any other special traditions involving the tree? Artificial tree with white lights. Colored looks so 80s to me
  • I’m 10 weeks 2 days. Can’t believe I made it this far lol.

I’m high-risk because I have type 2 diabetes that I take insulin for, also hypothyroid.

My next appointment is the 15th and it’s my NIPT test and First Tri Screening.

Current main concern is getting blood sugar under control.

Positive that I still have symptoms and have made it to this point, which at 4 weeks I never thought I’d make it this far.

I grew up with real trees only, but trying to save money this year, so my boyfriend’s mom gave us a 4 ft artificial tree. It’s the perfect size for our very small apartment. I miss the smell of the real tree for sure. Colored lights. Just started a tradition this year where me and my bf give each other special ornaments on Christmas but I already gave him his because I’m terrible at surprises..

Hoping for the best for you ladies.
  • How far along are you? 8w3d

Why are you considered high-risk? uterine fibroids, I had no idea, no symptoms, risk factors, nothing, then at my 12 week NT scan they found several.

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? Not this week but I will have weekly ultrasounds starting at probably 16 weeks or so to make sure the baby is growing well and the fibroids are not. They caused zero issues with my prior pregnancy but I'm nervous this time and have no idea if they got worse since.

    Any concerns/news currently?
Just nerves about the fibroids getting worse since last time.

What positives are you seeing with your pregnancy today?
Hoping I have no issues again, I know it's possible as I had a great pregnancy with my DD.

GTKY: If you celebrate Christmas, do you get a live tree or artificial tree? Colored lights or white lights? Any other special traditions involving the tree?
We've always gotten real till this year. With a 2 year old and one on the way we decided to get a really nice fake tree so avoid the mess and hassle. I like white lights, DH likes colored lights. Thankfully out tree came with lights that can be put on either setting.

  • How far along are you? 8 weeks + 5 days, but measuring 2 days behind, so not really sure exactly! I had a Frozen Embryo Transfer on 10/25 so I'm going from that date.

Why are you considered high-risk? Previous 2nd trimester loss, took 2.5 years after that to get pregnant via IVF

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? I have weekly blood draws and ultrasounds. Ultrasound went great. Doctor was really concerned because my doubling time was low. Baby looks good and he said that after 9 weeks he will feel more confident because chance of miscarriage drops to below 5%. I am cautiously optimistic. This morning I woke up to two microscopic drops of blood, which of course freaked me the f out. It's stopped and is probably from the ultrasound, but loss brain.

Any concerns/news currently? Just want to make it to my 20 week scan, which seems so far away. Once I can feel kicks and can pick up the hr on the doppler, I will feel better.

What positives are you seeing with your pregnancy today? AFAIK, I'm still pregnant, so that's good.

GTKY: If you celebrate Christmas, do you get a live tree or artificial tree? Colored lights or white lights? Any other special traditions involving the tree? Live, but I feel guilty about it! It's so pretty, though!
  • Crystal321  - colored lights look cheesy to me. White lights all the way!
  • How far along are you?
    10weeks

    Why are you considered high-risk?
late loss at 6 months before my son, clotting disorder & advance maternal age. 35 this Friday

Any additional monitoring or testing this week?
    genetics counseling this Friday

    Any concerns/news currently?
    just super nervous in general

What positives are you seeing with your pregnancy today?
    Still pregnant
  • I don't know where the rest of my comment went ?
  • Day 2 of bedrest and I am losing my everloving mind
  • @Crystal321 I was on bed rest for the last 2 weeks of pregnancy with my LO and it does suck. So much. I hope everything resolves and you're off bed rest soon!
  • @Crystal321 binge watching and lots of naps  is how i got through it. I also got into crocheting and adult coloring books. I was on bed rest all first tri and full disability all third tri with my son. Ugh it was horrible! I hope they clear you soon!
  • I'm high risk bc of 3 early losses and one chemical pregnancy, I'm positive for MTFHR (a blood clotting disorder) and my daughter was born preterm (35 weeks). Also, AMA. (35) And a low progesterone levels. (Gosh- I sound like a hot mess!)

    How far along? 9+6

Doing the genetic testing this week.

Any concerns? Not really. My losses were all before 7 weeks. My other issues are super closely monitored. Slightly worried about AMA, but I think it's bc it's my only "new" issue and now much I can do about it. I'm always just super nervous before ultrasounds though.

Positives- my progesterone is 69. I've had 4 awesome ultrasounds. I'm almost 10 weeks!

  • I'll respond to some of you tomorrow. I'm dizzy and having trouble reading.

Excuse my ignorance but what is AMA?
  • @wildtot AMA = Advanced Maternal Age
  • Totally forgot that I am AMA now... I think they should push the age back ;)
  • Gotcha! Thanks.
Being high risk will you all be going through the generic testing?

  • @crystalgirl I know! 35 doesn't seem "old" ;)
  • How far along are you? 7+3

    Why are you considered high-risk?
Sickle cell anemia. Will also be AMA (turn 35 in 1 month).

Any additional monitoring or testing this week?
Nothing this week. U/S next week then I graduate from RE if all is well. Have to find a new OB and associated MFM. Have an appointment with my hematologist today.

    Any concerns/news currently? Nada

What positives are you seeing with your pregnancy today?
Happy for those day when I ‘feel pregnant’ (sore boobs, nausea, twinges etc). Otherwise I start to worry.

GTKY: If you celebrate Christmas, do you get a live tree or artificial tree? Colored lights or white lights? Any other special traditions involving the tree?
Live tree for sure. We are going to get ours tonight! I want to start adding an ornament every year relevant to whatever happened that year. This year I got one with a pregnant couple plus to snowflakes for out 2 frozen embryos. I prefer white lights for the tree.

@Crystal321 I didn’t know about your subchorionic hemorrhage. Sorry you are stuck on bed rest but I hope the bleeding stops soon.
  • @safire3 thank you :) congrats on moving on from the RE! I can't wait.... the specialist copay is sucking me dry!
  • @Crystal321 yep me too! Apparently even though I’m pregnant now and no longer being treated for infertility my insurance still won’t pay for anything because the RE’s office is ‘out of network’. So here I am still paying out of pocket for everything. Can’t wait to finally have insurance cover something!
  • Last time i think they moved me at week 11. I am 8 weeks on sunday but having a ton of issues so who knows!
  • How far along are you? 10 weeks 3 days

Why are you considered high-risk? High Blood Pressure, signs of renal damage

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? glucose test next week

    Any concerns/news currently?
I'm just concerned overall since it's my first and I'm approaching AMA

What positives are you seeing with your pregnancy today?
I get to see my little Casper more than 3 times

GTKY: If you celebrate Christmas, do you get a live tree or artificial tree? Colored lights or white lights? Any other special traditions involving the tree?
Artificial with color lights. no traditions other than keeping the cats out of it. Haha
  • How far along are you? 7 weeks and 1 to 3 days

Why are you considered high-risk? AMA (43)

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? 8 week US on monday. My OB doesn't believe in all the extra testing. I asked him since I had a loss in June, this time will u test my hcg levels? My progesterone? He said I am healthy and a previous loss does not increase my chances of another, and that knowing my levels will not help anything. He said if I am going to MC, there is nothing we can do to prevent or stop it, not even taking progesterone. We do an US more often than an average pregnancy though. I kind of wish we did all the level testing. Maybe I'd feel less in the dark as I wait for my US.

    Any concerns/news currently?
I don't really feel as many symptoms as I'd like. I'm afraid My US Monday will show no HB.

What positives are you seeing with your pregnancy today?
I feel positive that I have not had any spotting, and I keep reminding myself that at my 6 week US, my little baby measured right on schedule with a HB of 123. With my MC, my 6 week appointment measured small with no HB until 7.5 weeks of half that. So this pregnancy seems better on track!

GTKY: If you celebrate Christmas, do you get a live tree or artificial tree? Colored lights or white lights? Any other special traditions involving the tree?
Bug-less Artificial and classic white! Our tradition is my DH and DSD decorate the house, and I am the only one allowed to touch the tree! They rush the tree to get it overwith shoving ornaments anywhere. Lol, I meticulously place each ornament, so they are happy to give me the task and I happily take it!
  • P.S. To all you ladies referring to AMA at 35, try not to worry! How I wish I were 8 years younger! I am kind of obsessed with my age since according to the internet its so advanced for pregnancy, and based on the tons of stuff I read on the topic, the risks only really seem to present themselves after 40. I think they like to be extra cautious starting at 35. You guys are young! And my Doctor said at 43, I am not even close to breaking any records for him. He told me he has delivered many healthy babies to women older than me with the oldest being 47!
  • @babybakie age is just a number, it's all about how you feel imo
  • How far along are you?
    10 weeks 2 days

    Why are you considered high-risk?
    Having twins

Any additional monitoring or testing this week?
    ultrasound on Monday

    Any concerns/news currently?
im just nervous if they don’t find a heartbeat for one between now and 12 weeks.

What positives are you seeing with your pregnancy today?
    No more nausea

GTKY: If you celebrate Christmas, do you get a live tree or artificial tree? Colored lights or white lights? Any other special traditions involving the tree?
we get a live tree and cut it down each year. We compromise and do red and white lights
  • How far along are you?

    9 weeks 1 day

    Why are you considered high-risk?

Age, I'm 41 & this is the first time I've ever been pregnant (fertility issues)

Any additional monitoring or testing this week?

Progesterone check with my RE, first prenatal appt with my ob. I guess we'll go over all the tests for chromosomal disorders, as I did not do pgs testing on my embryos.

Any concerns/news currently? On bedrest due to a possible SCH

What positives are you seeing with your pregnancy today?

Really happy to be nauseous, as I take it as a sign that all continues to be well. Delighted I made it to nine weeks.

GTKY: If you celebrate Christmas, do you get a live tree or artificial tree? Colored lights or white lights? Any other special traditions involving the tree?

     I celebrate Hanukkah.

Can't beat the smell of a live pine tree and the beauty of white lights.

  • How far along are you?  8 weeks

Why are you considered high-risk? I am a type 2 diabetic (on insulin) and have had 4 previous losses.  (Also have severe anxiety and depression but that doesn't have much to do with being high risk I suppose)

Any additional monitoring or testing this week?  Nope.  Will have a sono next week (Dec 19)

    Any concerns/news currently?
Having a hard time eating (nausea) which is affecting my sugars but I'm managing.

What positives are you seeing with your pregnancy today?
Well, I'm not spotting so every day with out that is a good ting for me.  My last loss was at 10 weeks so trying to get out of that first tri so I'll feel a little less anxious.

GTKY: If you celebrate Christmas, do you get a live tree or artificial tree? Colored lights or white lights? Any other special traditions involving the tree?
White lights this year.  Colored lights last year.  My kids were a little bummed that I bought white this year so I told them walmart ran out of colored. lol. I love a white lighted tree.

I am also type 2 on insulin. What was your A1C when you found out you were pregnant? Mine was 8 and that was at 6 1/2 weeks. They are retesting mine at the end of December if all is still good with baby. I’m new to insulin and it’s taking me awhile to get everything under control. My fastings are still above 100 every day. But the others are finally normal. @GoldAndCurls
