@BusinessWife I’ve lurked the IF board in the past but honestly the main reason I haven’t posted over there is because I have secondary IF and I worry that I wouldn’t be as welcome/don’t want to upset anyone over there by posting.

@shortstack930 I think if your joined the January IVF thread no one would bat an eye. On our November group there were other people that had kids and it was NBD. Secondary infertility is just as real and painful as primary. You are going through all the same things we are and you have every right to join us over there.
@kiwi2628 thank you for that! IF is so hard to deal with, the last thing I would want to do is make somebody feel worse. Maybe I will try to dive in over there later this week. How are you feeling today?

@shortstack930 you would absolutely not be the only secondary IFer on the board, and imho, you'll be fine. I mean, you're there sharing about your ivf treatment, ups and downs, feelings surrounding that. You have a grasp of board etiquette enough that you'll be totally fine. ❤ I don't doubt it for a second!
What you need to do is go in there and intro, complaining about how annoying your kid is when they do xy or z, and act surprised and indignant that the nurses asked you to have them escorted out of the REs waiting room... they will love you ;)
j/k obv. You have never come across as a TW about your existing child(ren), so unless you have plans to start now... lol
@shortstack930 I am feeling much better. I didn't even cry today! I am terrified I won't respond well to the microdose lupron protocol, like, truly terrified of starting this next cycle because yesterday was the most broken I have ever felt my soul get. I have never sobbed like that- I ached to my very core. I think mostly because a poor response was so not on my or my doctors radar. At our IVF consult he told me to expect 15-20 eggs and be prepared to maybe have OHSS, so a poor response was totally out of left field and made me have to adjust my expectations and hopes.
But last night my H and I had some long talks about how far we want to go with this, what our plans would be etc... and for me, having a plan significantly reduces stress for me. So our plan is for me to do this next cycle and if it works- great! If not, I am ok to do a third cycle and if that doesn't work we think we would move to a donor egg. My H really wants bio kids and I don't care if its a bio kid or not, so a donor egg would allow us to have a bio kid for him so thats probably our move, although obviously hoping this next cycle makes me have a billion eggs that all make it to blasts and I can make some babies and then spread the embryos all over the world and have my own personal football team...or something like that.
@skilledsailor I’m not sure if the RE is satisfied - haven’t heard back yet. It’s more that I’m frustrated. Mine is 10 days without supplements, so I guess I’m just not sure why the supplements didn’t extend it more. May just be denial as this seems the last option before IVF.
@laurad75 thanks for the timeline info. Guess I need to figure out who to contact to start setting up a schedule.
@BusinessWife thank you! Definitely don’t have intentions of being a TW . I’ll try to join in over there soon! @kiwi2628 it is so so frustrating to have to go through all of that expecting one thing only to get another. I would be reacting the same way. I also am the type to need a plan so I understand how that can help you feel better. I think your plan is a good one and I am hoping so hard for you that the new protocol works. It’s so hard to remain optimistic during all of this IF stuff, especially after failed cycles but I am still so optimistic for you. It’s really great that you and YH have come up with a plan that works for you both.

OMG ladies, I'm a few days behind which means I'm pages and pages behind!! Trying to catch up and LT for all!
Diagnosis (If you've been): MFI - low count
Cycle/CD: Cycle whatever, CD 21
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) nothing and it's gloooooorious!!!!! No appts, no needles, no temping, no OPKs (ok, I did 2, but they were negative and I stopped and didn't look back). Just EOD last wee during FW and calling it a cycle! If nothing works out, we move onto IVF in Jan once my work's insurance starts
How are things going? Actually pretty good. I'm enjoying not being on any meds the most. They all bloated me, they all just made my sex drive crash and burn so it's nice to feel back to normal and knowing I'm bloated bc I ate like shit last night, not bc of meds
Any questions? Nothing yet.
GTKY: What is one of your big (non- TTC related) fears? Something happening to my husband at work. I'm a LEOW and I hate that he doesn't just sit at a desk and I hate that people hate him just for putting on a certain uniform each day. He's a good person and I'm proud of him and he loves it, but all I do is worry. And **TW** anything happening to my son. Childhood cancer just scares the living shit out of me *End TW** Oh and flying. I am terrified of flying - I will do it...but it ain't pretty!
@laurad75 Glad that your transfer went well! @darkstar42 FX for a Christmas BFP @Avrilmai Hugs lady, I know that managing my expectations is one of the hardest parts for me. @beachbunnyxo123 Hope your saline sono goes well tomorrow @kiwi2628 I'm so sorry that your cycle was cancelled. I hope you had ALL the wine! @AlohaKumu Ugh, I'm sorry your RE's office is failing at communication. I would be freaking out! @madspunk Yay 3 follies! Grow little follies grow!
AFM: Thank you all for reminding me that 20 lbs is an accomplishment. Sometimes I get so wrapped up in thinking about how much I think I should have lost that I forget how well I'm doing. Had my FU appointment this morning and it was great. It was with my OB who I absolutely love and everyone in his office (with the exception of one of his NPs) is so nice. Plus he swears and jokes so I always feel comfortable. I got a fist bump for my weight loss, and we talked about Weight Watchers because his wife is doing it (so basically he's doing it too). He's happy with all of my test results. While my insulin is within the normal range it's on the higher side so he suggested starting metformin (left the final decision up to me) since he sees better response to clomid with lower numbers. So I'm starting metformin tonight, starting with 500mg at night then after a week will do 500mg at night and in the morning. Next cycle (which should start this weekend) we'll do 50mg Clomid CD 5-9 with CD12 monitoring and TI.
@50Wife I'm glad you're enjoying your medication break!
@KariAnn323 Your RE sounds awesome! And you totally deserve a weight loss fist bump!
AFM: IUI is Friday! I had 2 follies just about ready today. DH was so excited my body is finally working right with the new dose of meds that he called me after I texted him with the IUI news and couldn't stop saying "wow" and how great it was. It was really cute but also sad because we both have our hopes up and I know there is a good chance this won't work.
So I had my saline sono this morning. It was with another RE who has done one of my IUIs before (my RE is still managing my case though). So I was told to have a full bladder and they also did n abdominal US to see the pathway for the catheter. She used two different types of catheters and was able to get it in! She did the saline and everything looked good no issues! So I’m glad about that! The only caveat...so I was spotting as she was doing it, she said that although my cervix is curved there was also some scar tissue which was causing the spotting. She said while she is confident that they will get this particular catheter in for the FET she said if I was her patient she would still have me do another hysteroscopy except with their chief surgeon who specializes in cervical dilation (so do an ER then the hysteroscopy for cervical dilation as close to FET as possible) because she said they really don’t want me bleeding during an FET as it should be the least hostile environment as possible. The only drawback is that I just spent $3k on a hysteroscopy that they couldn’t get the catheter in and we are all OOP for IVF. I mean it’s just a lot a lot of money for all of this. Obviously I want the best chance possible so I’ll talk to my doc today and see what he says but does anyone have any other thoughts? Does anyone know anything about spotting and an FET?
@beachbunnyxo123 I'm so glad they were able to get in to do the sonogram! Bummer about maybe another hysteroscopy before they'll do FET. Sorry I don't have any specific advice on this.

@madspunk enjoy the excitement and good news today; save the worry for later. GL tomorrow!
@beachbunnyxo123 so glad they were able to do the saline! and yay for no issues! (i'm no help on the FET question) I'm hoping the other ladies, or maybe a lurker out there, has some feedback.

"Some days are diamonds, some days are rocks, some doors are open, some roads are blocked"
@beachbunnyxo123 I'm so happy that they were able to get through the saline sono after all the issues you've had! While I know you're going to need to think about the additional hysteroscopy, especially because of the cost, I sort of see it like my choice to do PGS testing or acupuncture. I want the best chance possible that my FET will work, despite the enormous financial hit of the additional testing and treatments. If the doctors feel like trauma to your cervix (and thus the spotting) could have an negative impact on the success of the FET, then perhaps it would be worthwhile to do the hysteroscopy. Aside from our meds, we are all OOP as well, so I feel your pain with the cost. I'm sorry you even have to make this additional decision in the mountain of decisions we already have to make. I hope your doctor is also able to give you additional information during your discussion.

@AlohaKumu that is a really good point. I’ve also been doing acupuncture and am going to be doing PGS testing so what’s an extra $3k in the scheme of it all anyway if it means it’s gonna help.
However I would also ask do you need to decide now already? Couldn’t you wait and see how many embryos you get first? And how you get on after that ER? Then again, if there’s something up with your cervix it might be better to know before you’re KU - I think with good embies you can maybe get past spotting, but it would be awful if it caused a problem later in the PG too...
In general if you can find the money and have the time, anything you can do to remove potential problems should reduce the risk of failure or loss later... which as well as causing extra monetary cost is more than that a huge emotional cost...

@emmasemm My clinic had us decide prior to the start of cycle. No major decisions while hepped up on all the hormones!!! If we coukd have decided after retrieval or after fertilization or on day 5 prior to freeze, that would have taken so much pressure off. But I know in our case we had to decide up front.
@beachbunnyxo123 That's great she was able to get the catheter in and that everything looks good! What a relief after what you've been through! I know nothing about spotting and FET, but I hope your RE was able to give you more information about the risks of this and how helpful an additional hysteroscopy may be.
We were looking into starting IVF in January, but they had an opening now and the timing fit, so, well, I start BC tonight. Final testing in December, then tentatively start stims 12/30.
While I hate that we’re at this point with no real answers as to why, I honestly feel a bit relieved. At least we’re moving forward quickly? I’m know I’ll have a million questions. Any advice is, as always, appreciated.
@beachbunnyxo123 glad it went well today! I hope the doctor gives you information that makes the decision easier.
@emmasemm My clinic also had us decide before we started anything to PGS test I think The total was $2700 for up to 10 embryos and any after that $200 or $225 I can’t remember.
Guys, I just got my lab results back. Last December when my midwife did my AMH it was 4.29. Now it is 1.80. How could it drop that much in a year????

AFM I just had my final ultrasound before the FET next week. The doctor said he always looks to see if he can find a reason to cancel a cycle, but that everything looked totally perfect: trilinear lining measuring at over 8mm. I'm so ready for this!

@shortstack930 Did you talk to anyone or did you just see your results online? Could they re-check that number? I'm not sure at what rate it should decrease so I'm no help there, but it seems that you're still currently in the "normal" range (at least based on what I just found online). I hope you can get some more information
@50Wife I checked in the patient portal so I haven’t spoken to my RE yet. It’s definitely still in the normal range for my age but just seems crazy that it would drop that much, especially since I’ve made so many ISWTE changes. I wonder if they’ll be willing to repeat it.

@shortstack930 No idea but im curious to hear what they say! My AMH was 4.17 a month ago and I’m 37, thought that is a lil high for my age and i do not have PCOS. It’s def still in normal range so try not to stress too much. Let us know what they say bc I would say that’s pretty drastic for 1 year but I am no expert.
@emmasemm I used to be the same with H (and my exes). We just to fight in the beginning of our relationship because I wanted him to call whenever he was coming home so I could know he was ok. He quickly got in the habit. But now with him getting out at 2am and me asleep, that can’t happen. It took a lot to get used to. And there will still be times that I wake up after he should be home and he’s not in bed where I freak out and go downstairs looking for him
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) wasn’t temping or opks, just bd on Friday’s & Sunday But h and I got in a big fight last weekend so no BD. Felt O pains Monday night, decided to test & got a + opk, had a horrible BD and now just waiting
How are things going? It’s been a rough week on many levels
Any questions?
GTKY: What is one of your big (non- TTC related) fears?
Do I have to pick one? My house catching on fire (I have pretty bad ocd)
@beachbunnyxo123 *hugs* Glad the doctor was able to perform this procedure. Sorry they're suggesting another OOP one.
@halfanewt That's exciting! Moving forward is such a good feeling.
@shortstack930 When will you be able to speak with your RE about the AMH results?
@purplg8r The idea was that if I ovulate on my own then clomid would help me release 2-3 eggs, hopefully at least one from each side giving me better odds that I'd drop an egg from the open side each month. However, since I had so many side effects I was told to stop it after four doses and at my US they only found one follie (good side at least). Sorry you've had a rough week. Doing anything this weekend as a "pick me up"?
@purplg8r sorry for the the rough week and missed BD opportunities. Hopefully what you did get in does the trick!
AFM: IUI went well! I had just a little bit of cramping. And I made it into a good morning off from work with brunch and sitting by the fire reading. Now I wait...

@shortstack930 I will have a Hysteroscopy and then a saline sono on Monday. My doctor also said no big deal. Saw this study synopsis and thought you all might be interested. Apparently Shady Grove did a study comparing PIO, vaginal progesterone, and both in IVF patientss. I think they’d hoped PIO was unnecessary. They have already concluded vaginal suppositories are less effective than PIO and PIO with suppositories.
@zamora_spin Thanks for sharing that! My clinic does a lot of research, too, and when I asked one of our nurses about it, she said the same thing. Unfortunately, no getting out of PIO at my clinic, either. In the event of a pregnancy, we continue PIO through week 8, and then taper off with suppositories weeks 9 and 10. The injections themselves are not that bad, imho, it's more the bruises, lumps and soreness that start to add up over time, and maybe the mental fatigue of jabbung yourself night after night, week after week. It does suck, but I imagine it will feel like a small price to oay for success!

What you need to do is go in there and intro, complaining about how annoying your kid is when they do xy or z, and act surprised and indignant that the nurses asked you to have them escorted out of the REs waiting room... they will love you ;)
j/k obv. You have never come across as a TW about your existing child(ren), so unless you have plans to start now... lol
ETA Definitely! Go for it! Dive right in! ❤

Childhood cancer just scares the living shit out of me *End TW**
Oh and flying. I am terrified of flying - I will do it...but it ain't pretty!
@darkstar42 FX for a Christmas BFP
@Avrilmai Hugs lady, I know that managing my expectations is one of the hardest parts for me.
@beachbunnyxo123 Hope your saline sono goes well tomorrow
@kiwi2628 I'm so sorry that your cycle was cancelled.

PGS test I think The total was $2700 for up to 10 embryos and any after that $200 or $225 I can’t remember.
@beachbunnyxo123 Glad your test went well!
Guys, I just got my lab results back. Last December when my midwife did my AMH it was 4.29. Now it is 1.80. How could it drop that much in a year????

@emmasemm I used to be the same with H (and my exes). We just to fight in the beginning of our relationship because I wanted him to call whenever he was coming home so I could know he was ok. He quickly got in the habit. But now with him getting out at 2am and me asleep, that can’t happen. It took a lot to get used to. And there will still be times that I wake up after he should be home and he’s not in bed where I freak out and go downstairs looking for him

Any questions?
GTKY: What is one of your big (non- TTC related) fears?
@AlohaKumu That's such good news! 1 week to go!
@purplg8r sorry for the the rough week and missed BD opportunities. Hopefully what you did get in does the trick!
AFM: IUI went well! I had just a little bit of cramping. And I made it into a good morning off from work with brunch and sitting by the fire reading. Now I wait...
@purplg8r So sorry you're having a rough week.

@shortstack930 I will have a Hysteroscopy and then a saline sono on Monday. My doctor also said no big deal. He’s promised with my 1430 appointment I can be back in my next meeting without any ill effects by 1500!!!
