Meal planning Monday!

It’s that time of the week again.. what’s cookin?

GTKY- What healthy habits do you try to have this time of year to offset the holiday yumminess that comes along with tons of sugar and calories?

Re: Meal planning Monday!

  • Monday- Chinese chicken in a pressure cooker (from nom nom paleo’s ready or not cookbook) with some kind of veggie stir fry on the side

Tuesday - lamb chops, green beans, potatoes

Wednesday - hobo stew (nom nom paleo cookbook)

thursday- cracklin chicken thighs (same cookbook), broccoli

    Friday- left overs and such

For lunches, I plan on doing some simple stir frys and also leftovers

GTKY-  I try to really increase the veggies and snack on fruits this time of year. Also, I try to limit the starchy carbs since I find I have a lot of carb-heavy meals for the holidays and am not as active in the cold weather.

  • Monday: grilled whole chicken, dumplings and veggies ((leftovers from Sunday))

Tuesday: Lasagna with garlic bread and salad

Wednesday: Yaki Chicken with stir fry veggies and rice

    Thursday: leftover Lasagna

    Friday: Homemade Pizza

Saturday: Broccoli Chicken and Rice Casserole

    Sunday: Leftovers

Honestly we don’t do a ton of desserts in our house and we won’t be visiting family for the holidays. When we bake cookies, we donate them to the cookie drive and only keep a few for ourselves. So, we add lots of fruits and veggies to our main menu and enjoy the sweets when we actually have them on hand.
  • Monday - Chicken Express to go - easy for the Steelers game!!

    Tuesday - Tacos

Wednesday - Lasagna roll-ups (Skinnytaste.com), salad and garlic bread

Thursday - Orange chicken, egg rolls, and rice

    Friday - Dinner @ in law's

I don't do too much different during the holidays either. I still plan meals and make sure I go to Zumba. Our "bad days" of all the holiday goodness only last about 2 days - the actual holiday and leftovers the next day. I had an appt yesterday and still haven't gained any weight (started off overweight as it was), but I was expecting to have gained a TON bc of Thanksgiving. Keeping my routine for now bc it seems to be working.
  • I need to meal plan before I go grocery shopping today. So here goes:

    Monday: Leftover pizza
    Tuesday: Chicken Caesar salad
    Wednesday: Slow cooker turkey chili
    Thursday: Leftovers
    Friday: Quesadillas
Saturday: Chicken fingers and French fries
    Sunday: Taco salad

Ooh I think I did it!!! Haha! Yay!

GTKY: Ummmm I don't? Lol! I just gain weight. But this year I'm going to try harder. DH has been on a big health kick and has lost 25lbs (while I've gained 23 grrrr). So we haven't had junk food in the house which is good! I'm going to try to only eat sweets at family gatherings and not go overboard.
  • @justkeeptrying “ummmm I don’t” is my favorite thing and I relate a little too much  :D

    Monday-steak, fries, and roasted beets
Tuesday- breakfast tamales with eggs and veggies
Wednesday- dinner at church for advent
thursday- spinach artichoke chicken mac and cheese
Friday- tomato soup and grilled cheese
    Saturday- DH work Christmas party

I am not great about eating usually during the holidays but my biggest upside is being gluten free because no one hardly has anything I can eat. This year with GD with take even more out. The only place I can usually eat at is my moms because her, my sisters, my nephew, and DD are all GF. Otherwise I take a hearty salad most places as a potluck so I have something healthy to eat.

  • Monday - butter bean and sausage cassoulet

Tuesday - stir fried cauliflower "rice"

Wednesday - out for Korean with friends

Thursday - Hawaiian meatball, pepper and pineapple skillet

Friday - May have to see the in-laws or have leftover otherwise

    Have a great week, yall!

  • @megpeg the spinach artichoke chicken mac and cheese sounds delicious!

  • @k318 I made it last week and the kids are requesting it again. I made Mac and cheese with Parmesan and mozzarella and a little cream cheese and then added rotisserie chicken, sautéed spinach with garlic, and canned quick pan fried artichokes. Then mixed that all in a 9x13 inch pan and topped with a little more mozzarella. It was pretty easy and delicious(I also used green lentil pasta for more protein and less carbs.)

Ok the hubs just cooked up the ground turkey for tacos and it doesn't smell right. I bought it Saturday but didn't freeze it, and it was still pink and said "Use or freeze by Dec 10," but DAYUM that stuff reeks. And now the whole house smells. Ugh. I didn't have morning sickness but this might be the first time I vom this pregnancy. He pitched it and is running to the store to buy new meat, but I just can't right now with the stink. #kitchenfail

ETA totally not my husband's fault!! Felt bad when he apologized to me.
