I think themed rooms/houses are weird. Sorry if anyone here is really into it. I just don't like when everything is too matchy and I don't like the idea of not being able to buy something if I liked it because it's not the right theme. I thought of this opinion after watching Fixer Uppers last night. Their whole house was nautical.

@eleven_ Haha you'd hate our spare room/future nursery. It's "explore" themed. I painted a mountain mural and all the wall hangings are either maps or have some form of the word explore on it. Our push pin atlas really sealed the deal.
Man, I had a really good UO the other day and now I can't remember it. Maybe a lame one but I don't like when people share their holiday card photos on social media before the cards are sent out. It seems less special then.
I don’t like when people set limits on how much I can spend on them for Christmas. If I want to spend all my money on you, let me. H has set a $20 limit and I’ve had his gift picked out for months and it’s just over $100 so now I can’t get it.
Even though they suck, I don’t think people should report drive bys. It just draws the BGs attention to the thread and people get warnings. That said, you never know when the OP is going to go report button happy, either....
@SkilledSailor I think themed nurseries are cute! Themed houses can be over the top though for sure. I have been getting so many ads for celebrity holiday cards this year (probably because I spend too much time reading celeb gossip) and it is super annoying.
AFM, I don't really like Christmas music (::ducks::) I enjoy it on Christmas Eve/Day, but I get irritated when it is playing in every store and on radio stations and it is only November,

I actually agree with you, @lalala2004. The BeeGees are far more likely to warn us than the OP anyway, they just close the stupid threads and OP walks off with no warning. The reason given for thread closure often puts the onus on board members not the OP who broke the rules in the first place.
But I have long felt that crappy OPs deserved to get flamed with no remorse, but that seems to be a somewhat UO for most people who don't get stuck living on this board long-term, so I tend to just hide in my one thread.

@SkilledSailor Agreed, a whole themed house is weird. A nursery, like @legallykate said, is cute. But a whole house... strange.
I remember when I first joined a couple years ago and witnessed someone getting flamed the first few times, I thought it seemed harsh. @jrm_14 mmmm Belgian chocolate. I went to Belgium when I was in middle school as part of a student ambassador program and all my mom wanted was for me to bring her back some chocolate. I forget how many candy bars I bought, but I think maybe half a bar made it back. Also, Gertrude Hawk has these really delicious salted dark chocolate caramels! So good!
Ugh +1 for hating white chocolate. I LOVE DARK CHOCOLATE or milk if I have to, but white chocolate is gross.
+1 for hating "theme'd" rooms/houses. Maybe a nursery or an individual room is okay if that's your thing, but like... I dunno I'm super eclectic so having to stick to a theme is completely opposite my nature. There is no war on Christmas IMO and I intentionally send my dad "happy holiday" cards just to piss him off. I don't really have an UO atm... hmmm I'll have to think about it and come back.

@jrm_14 - no, not any picture on a card, it's the family photo that gets turned into a christmas card. going to sound super old, but that's not how holiday cards were done when I was younger and I like the old-school card tradition.
I also strongly dislike white chocolate! I find it cloying.

My UO is that i think the TV show "this is us" is mediocre and over-rated. Everyone at work loves it, and i just think it's predictable and over the top. I'm a monster, and i'll be watching downton abbey reruns if you need me.
@jrm_14 If I ever come across them, I promise I will try them! Maybe I've only ever had sh*tty white chocolate.
@jsnakehole@lurvleybunchococonuts I agree, there is absolutely no war on Christmas. If someone's offended because I say happy holidays, they're forgetting the spirit of the holiday they think they're protecting. I love that you guys purposely send out happy holidays cards to specific people lol
@Spylon White chocolate is the best and that is a hill I am ready to die on. While yes if you eat a massive bar it can be a bit sickly but just picture warm white chocolate chip cookies fresh out of the oven and you bite into a gooey spot of melted white chocolate
@lurvleybunchococonuts - YES about the war on Christmas! It's so silly. Christmas is *every*where. Just because someone prefers to say "happy holidays" it doesn't mean that Christmas is going away. If anything, the Christmas blitz has gone supernova. Everything is aggressively festive. We have Christmas events lined up every weekend in December - and that's just in our town.

The whole war on Christmas thing drives me nuts. First off, saying happy Holidays is appropriate, even for a Christian, considering there is a 2nd holiday a week later!
In the same spirit, I hate when people go on like to can't pray in school or have a Bible. It's ridiculous. TW, my daughter's old PUBLIC school had a moment of silence for prayer or reflection every morning after the pledge.
@holly321 I think quiet reflection in school is good- there's a big push for mindfulness in education now (also I'm not opposed to anything that requires more quiet). Prayer is inappropriate in a public school, though.
Me: 28 DH: 29 Married: 6/2016 TTC #1: 12/2016 Benched due to deployment- Off the bench 8/8/17!
@holly321@jsnakehole I don’t know how it works in America but in UK the majority of primary schools are Church of England meaning that we sung hymns every assembly and I’m pretty sure we had to bow our heads and say amen but it was so long ago I can barely remember. I remember one set of parents fought that it wasn’t appropriate so their kids would sit outside all the time to not participate, at the time we didn’t think anything of it because we liked the songs and sitting with our friends but looking back I do think it was just odd that you didn’t have any choice in it especially that no one in my class actually believed in god
@craftyg I’m also a Brit and all my friends find it super weird when I explain the morning assembly routine! I have to say I loved singing hymns each morning - but that’s mostly because I just love singing in groups full stop. Ah those were the days... We also had a daily prayer and said grace before lunch in my schools. Oh and of course each assembly had a story with a moral to it. Best one was our Latin teacher and her baskets.
Also to all the ladies with the on point gifs today again well done. When I look back at the qfps I think she just changed her username, but it was all the same account which you could see at the end. Weird that someone would go to so much trouble.
