    22 weeks today!
    2. Any recent appointment updates
Nope, next appointment is the 5th
3.How much did your babies weigh at your last ultrasound?
My doctor actually hasn't gone over that at all with us at any of our appointments, lol.
    4. How are you feeling?
Headaches suck :( I get borderline migraines if I don't have caffeine every morning. I would think it's caffeine with drawl, but I don't have any of the other symptoms (I've gone through it before). My lower back is also really starting to hate me, but we were expecting that.
    5. Best moment with the babies this week?
I think I finally felt them move this week!!!!!!! A couple of times I've felt what was like a small bubble or something rolling on the far left side of my belly :D
    6. Did you buy anything this week for the babies?
I bought bandanna bibs off Amazon because they were on  really good sale. I'm very grateful that the 'girl' set isn't all pink :)
    7. Anything else you want to share this week, or questions, concerns, etc?
How do you get DH/SO to understand how little time you have until the babies get here so they get their rear in gear and help you get stuff ready for them??? We desperately need to clean the house and get the room that's going to be the nursery cleared out, but I can't do a whole lot because of the back pain :( I don't think he feels the same pressure to get it all done as I do.

21 weeks 3 days! My EDD is 3/29, but they won't let me go past 37 weeks since my twins are identical- they're girls!

    2. Any recent appointment updates
Had our anatomy scan at 20 weeks! All good. They couldn't get a couple measurements on each baby so we will try to get those at our appointment in 2 days.

3.How much did your babies weigh at your last ultrasound?
Baby A was 11 ounces and baby B was 10 ounces!

    4. How are you feeling?
Feeling good- besides insomnia! And really getting sick of the constant stuffy nose. Starting to get more backaches and general body aches when I'm active

    5. Best moment with the babies this week?
I miiiight be starting to feel them move? I'm a FTM so it's still hard to tell if it's them, or just gas or something else!

    6. Did you buy anything this week for the babies?
Nope! I had a miscarriage at 10 weeks last spring and am still a little superstitious about buying things....

    7. Anything else you want to share this week, or questions, concerns, etc?
When did you all feel your babies move?!

  • @kikikav i hope to see your update on ultrasound in 2 days! As for feeling them move, I felt them fairly early at 10wks,  but it wasn't until 18 to 20 weeks when i felt them everyday..BUT im not a ftm so maybe this wont help..
  • @amanning2011 my next MFM appointment is on the 5th!! So your dr. Didnt tell you their weights at your Anatomy Scan? That is one of the things they usually check..i would ask them next time you get one. Ive been getting their weights since week 14.
  • @kikikav I only just started very rarely feeling what I'm pretty sure is them, a lot of it depends on your placenta placement.

@momma6angels11 I don't know if maybe because the practice also has midwives that that isn't something they like doing since it isn't always accurate? I'll ask at the next appointment though, maybe they just forgot lol.

    25 weeks on thursday :)

    2. Any recent appointment updates
Had my echo for baby b. They found a persistent left svc- basically a vein(?) that is usually only on the right is only seen on the left. Specialist tells us that everything otherwise looks structurally sound and is functioning properly, but should he ever need heart surgery, it’s something the surgeon will need to know. Sounded relatively minimal to me. But then we had our follow up with the OB who says he needs an echo done after he’s born. My first question was “does this mean he will need to be in the NICU until he gets checked” (only because that was the case with our older son)...the ob didn’t have an answer and instead said she would ask the pediatrician. Then she started pushing me to have a c-section because baby b is breech. I reiterated what we would like (a vaginal delivery) and that there is still time for baby b to flip...All in all, wasn’t a really helpful visit. Oh! I did take my gestational diabetes test and passed that, but my iron is a little low so I’ll be taking an iron supplement.

3.How much did your babies weigh at your last ultrasound?
    1lb 11oz
    1lb 10oz

    4. How are you feeling?
Pretty good! Little sore and still sleepy...probably somewhat because of my low iron.
    5. Best moment with the babies this week?
Baby girl kicked my dog. The dog looked at me like ‘what’s your problem?’ Gave me a good laugh :)
    6. Did you buy anything this week for the babies?
Not directly. We are still remodeling our home and need carpet in the soon-to-be office and playroom before we can clear out the current guest room/soon-to-be nursery...so we bought carpet this week :)

    7. Anything else you want to share this week, or questions, concerns, etc?
    not yet!

@kikikav I feel mine move but it’s not as pronounced as I expected...baby b is with an anterior placenta and they told me it’s normal to not really feel him move as much.

  • @awolfff i love your best moment with babies this week!! FX that baby b doesn't need to stay in NICU when born and echo after birth is all good..

@amanning2011 Our H's must be opposites! Mine gets panicky when we don't get a baby item done for a whole week lol. I feel you on the back pain and the caffeine needs...

@kikikav Started to feel mine move around 21-22 weeks too  :)

@awolfff I'm sorry you're going through all that --sounds really confusing. I'm also confused at how they're already talking to you about a c/s due to breech. My OB said it was WAY too early to discuss that because they turn a lot around this time and could be in a different position an hour after an ultrasound.

    1. How far along are you?
If your EDD , cut off week, or genders are not above please post that here so I can add it
    24 weeks

    2. Any recent appointment updates? I had a growth scan yesterday, which *mostly* went well, they're growing concordantly and no red flags, except for with growth they're both currently in the 15th %ile. If they get below 10th %ile I think that's not good, and 15 is pretty close to 10 so... My OB doesn't seem concerned, and I'm not panicking over it, but I decided I'm gonna take it upon myself to squeeze in another daily serving of protein, maybe a tad more carbs, cross my fingers that they're up a bit at the next growth scan. I'm not expecting 10 pound babies here, but I read that preterm birth is more common if they measure small and I don't want to increase that risk.

3.How much did your babies weigh at your last ultrasound? see above

    4. How are you feeling? I did the glucose challenge earlier today, so naturally I feel like total shit. Hopefully I will pass and not have to do that again! I feel like if they're measuring on the smaller side the likelihood of having GD is probably not that high, right? (I hope!) I exercise regularly (very low impact these days) and eat pretty healthy (maybe too healthy), but I do have diabetes in my family, so I think it could go either way, but really really don't want GD. If I do, it's gonna be a PITA to put weight on these little guys while also going on a restrictive diet.

    5. Best moment with the babies this week? One of them opened his mouth at the ultrasound yesterday an it was kinda crazy to see!

    6. Did you buy anything this week for the babies? Got pack n play/bassinet combos! Almost done with the bigger purchases.

    7. Anything else you want to share this week, or questions, concerns, etc? Anyone else get put into a preterm birth education program? I was automatically put in one-- was supposed to start this week, but starting next week instead because of the holiday.
  • @vflux33 & @momma6angels11 thanks ladies! I don’t know why she is pushing for a csection this early either. She was telling me to schedule it when I was 20weeks too...just to get it on the books but I’m kind of sketched out by it. Not opposed to a csection, but I don’t like feeling pushed into the decision. With baby boy’s heart, just hoping to get a better idea of what it will all mean for us when we have him...hopefully sooner rather than later! Will post whenever we hear back

@vflux33 we took a preterm labor class, but didn’t find it super helpful- the lady talked to us about labor symptoms, what a contraction feels like, sleeping positions, the size of a baby’s brain preterm, early term and full term (shocker, they’re bigger the longer they cook), and to drink lots of water....it was interesting on some level but I didn’t feel as much of the course was about preterm labor as it probably could have been. Though, I’m not sure they could have filled up the whole 3hrs only on preterm labor. I found the twin talks episode on preterm labor more informative than the class we took. If you do go, you will have to let us know what they say!
  • @awolfff Oh weird--mine's not a class. I have a 30 minute one on one appointment with a special nurse, and then I get weekly phone appointments where they talk to me and ask me questions to make sure I'm not going into labor. I'll let you know how it goes! I agree that a class sounds like it wouldn't be super useful.

As for your OB wanting to schedule a c-section at 20 weeks just because of a current breech, honestly that sounds shady and I totally agree that you're right to be sketched out. Do you know what your hospital's stats are on c sections generally? I'm not as anti c section as a lot of other people, but forcing you down that path this early with no other clear complications sounds very not cool. I don't want to freak you out, but depending on the pay structure of the practice or HMO, I heard that some doctors are paid more for c sections than vaginal births... at the very least, c sections are more time efficient for them, and there have been a lot of accusations about doctors scheduling them for those self-serving purposes ahead of the needs and desires of the patient. You're probably already aware of that, but throwing it out there just in case...
  • @vflux33 ooh! That sounds way more helpful than the class I took.
It’s weird with the csection pushing because with her NP, she actually encouraged a vaginal delivery...and the last appt I had with her she told me “they were there to support me in whichever method of delivery is preferred”.

The hospital I’m delivering at has the highest csection rate in my county...they also have more high risk patients than any other. With my son, I started at where I’m at now, but decided to switch since I didn’t have a high risk pregnancy and wanted to deliver at the local hospital that also has a birth center inside it...and I had access to physician history and found that the doctor I was assigned to had open sanctions (one pretty serious). However, that was kind of a bust and my midwife scared me into early labor (kind of a long story) and offered very intrusive care which I didn’t prefer.

Now, we have switched to an HMO. We can’t switch without changing our son’s pediatrician and we LOVE him. It’s interesting what you say about them getting paid more because she has been pushing for a csection more and more and the last visit it was all about scheduling to make sure we had her as our doctor. Seeing as I haven’t been too impressed so far, not sure I’d be heartbroken if another doc ended up performing it.  We hired a doula and she actually taught our birthing class and has triplets of her own. I am hopeful that having her there will help. We had one for our son and she was a total rockstar.
  • @awolfff just remember it is ultimately your decision for a C-section  unless something goes wrong or babies are breech..and u can even wait until u go into labor, because they will most likely do an Ultrasound to check positions of babies.. if u want a vaginal  birth advocate for yourself and your babies until the day of birth so u dont get pushed into it!!
@Vflux33 what was the actual weight for 15% at 24wks?? Like mine were 1lb and 1lb 2oz at 22wks4days..

@awolfff I hope your doula helps! I was just looking into a doula this past week, but decided against one because I have to give birth in the OR and my OB said at our hospital only one person is allowed into the OR with you, which is obviously gonna be MH, so I didn't see the point of hiring a doula if I wouldn't have access to her assistance during the birth itself. You may want to double check on the OR policies at your hospital too. As for the c section payment, if you have an HMO there is actually a pretty decent chance your OB is salaried and would not get more money from a c section. You can probably do a little independent research and find out. I have Kaiser and we were able to find out pretty easily that our doctors are all salaried.

@momma6angels11 They didn't tell us the weight. They based their %ile assessment on averaging all the measurements (I think). All I know is that my doctor seems to be focusing on what is "OK" for size, and not what is "ideal". Like, yes, I get that I shouldn't be alarmed and panicking yet that they're at 15%ile, but if I want to make them bigger I should try, right? There was also a discrepancy between what she said was a target weight for this week and what my books says. Although generally I like to trust my own doctor over a book, my doctor normally has patients having singletons, and my book (When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets, or Quads) was written by doctors specifically about multiples who work at a clinic with only MoMs and choose their weight recommendations based on %ile weight at birth and ideal full term outcomes. So my OB said I was gaining the normal/OK amount, and the book says I'm a bit behind, which is consistent with them measuring on the small side right now. Very curious to hear if anyone else is having a similar issue with their OB... she's a decent OB but I think she's wrong about this and that she should be encouraging me to put on more weight. Especially now that I just passed the 1 hour glucose challenge (hooray!) and don't have to freak out about special diets.

ETA I just got an email from my OB saying I have mild anemia, so that may also be related to the low %ile.
  • So hear this- my ob apparently sent over a request to have my csection scheduled. Just got a call from her ppl to schedule it. To be fair, I understand that if I need it, it’s nice to be prepared with an appointment in place...I get it...I just don’t want to have one scheduled and have it turn into what the definite plan is just because I scheduled it. Anyways, I told them I wasn’t going to do that and if I needed to have one that it wouldn’t bother me if another doctor performed it.

Ugh. This woman is driving me nuts.
  • @awolfff Good job advocating for yourself! If we weren't all over halfway through at this point, I'd be suggesting you switch OBs, but that might be more trouble than it's worth at this point.  :/
  • Thanks @vflux33! You’re right. It is a little late in the game to be switching. My next appt is with the NP and I may mention something to her. Maybe I can have my prenatal appts done with the NP and the specialist? Not sure.

@awolfff if she's really making you uncomfortable or stressed you might think about switching anyway, she sounds like the kind of doctor that has preconceived ideas and will only look at things that support those ideas. Other than that I don't see why the NP couldn't do all your appointments, I see a midwife most of the time instead of my OB.

  • @amanning2011 I agree. I’m hoping to save myself some hoops and just roll with the NP and specialist. We will see! Next appt is in a couple weeks.
  • Hey fellow Mamas! I've been away from the boards for far too long due to a nasty cold. I hope everyone is rocking their bumps and feeling good!

    1. How far along are you?
If your EDD , cut off week, or genders are not above please post that here so I can add it
    24 weeks + 5 days, 38 weeks, B/B

    2. Any recent appointment updates
I had an OB appt last week which landed me in the hospital for chest xrays (to rule out pneumonia). Luckily, I just had a really bad cold and rested at home all week.

3.How much did your babies weigh at your last ultrasound?
    1 lb 2 oz each

    4. How are you feeling?
Lazy and tired. When I do get out I am severely limited in my mobility, if I have to walk long distances it takes awhile ;) And my back can't stand it.

    5. Best moment with the babies this week?
Hubs felt both the boys move. And I actually SAW a kick today which was funny.

    6. Did you buy anything this week for the babies?
No, but received some cute stuff from family this past weekend.

    7. Anything else you want to share this week, or questions, concerns, etc?
  • amanning2011 - omg you took the words right out of my mouth. Hubs acts as if we have all the time in the world to get everything done which is just not the case. Also, he's under the impression we won't have to buy anything b/c we'll get it all having a shower but again, I don't think that's going to happen. A little sense of urgency would go a long way.

kikikav - I am also a FTM and started feeling them around week 20/21. It wasn't until a week or so ago that I began feeling them pretty steadily all day. I think in another week or so I'll be able to determine patterns. But like someone else said, it does depend a lot of placenta placement.
