Re: Weekly Randoms 11/20

  • Today I had a lil breakdown before going into work. I had an awesome holiday weekend with my family and leaving DD this morning just made me lose it. I am the breadwinner in my family and DH stays home and some days I wish it were the other way around. Just trying to make it through today so I can get home to play with DD...
  • I failed my one hour GD test.. ugh :(

  • @crossfitbabybump did they tell you by how many points? Like was it really bad or close to the range?

  • The stomach flu plagued our household this weekend.  It actually started thanksgiving evening, when my baby basically shit all over me at the dinner table just as we were sitting down to eat.  Needless to say, very little food was had most of the weekend.  My little
guys were troupers, though, and stayed smiley and relatively happy, despite the yucks.

  • @megpeg - I failed it by 26 points. Not sure if that's bad? I'm so nervous! I went through my house and threw out all of the bad junk and bought all organic, fresh foods! I did some research on what we should be eating while pregnant. I am just so guilt ridden because I can't believe I let it get like this. I just want my baby to be healthy.
  • @gh515 - thanks lovey! My sister failed her 1 hour too but had no problem with the 3 hour. Just praying the 3 hour goes well! And not looking forward to that nasty warm fruit punch bull crap again, lol.
  • @crossfitbabybump did you eat before the test? I failed last time by 1 point and was fine for 3 hour, but I had cheerios before and I think it gave a false reading. This time my doc said just to eat a hard boiled egg for protein but it won't mess up my results
  • @bravoandprosecco - I did it after work I had eaten my normal breakfast and lunch and a snack before hand. This one I have to fast for 10 hours before. Someone else told me eggs and bacon before the test can help, too. Maybe that's what I'll have for dinner the night before!

Unfortunately, if you do have GD, you do not want to do anything to sway the results of the three-hour test -- you can't mess around with GD!  Although I doubt eggs and bacon would do much more than be a nice and delicious (if you eat bacon) high-protein dinner ;)

I'm so sorry you have to take the three-hour test though and that you won't know for sure until you do.  Like others have said, the one-hour is a random snapshot and many, many people fail it but don't end up without GD.

And if you do end up with GD, I have a feeling you'll still do great.  You seem to live a healthy lifestyle, so I bet the dietary restrictions won't be hard for you to get on board with.  I've been peeping the GD thread here and there too, and there's so much knowledge in there already!

  • I'm so sorry you failed @crossfitbabybump!! I'm sure you will pass the 3 hour. Like others have said, don't beat yourself up (though I totally will too if I fail cause that's just how I am). My mom's coworker is on pregnancy #3; she passed the GD test with the first two pregnancies and failed the 1 and 3 hour with this pregnancy. She's super healthy too. It just seems to happen randomly.
I'm taking my 1 hour Wed and am totally nervous, but it is what its and there is nothing I can do to change the outcome.
Good luck on your 3 hour!

Errrr....I don't know how to link, but just scroll down.  It's on page one and called GD questions and support, I think.  ETA:  I was gonna tag you in there but I see you've already been in!
