Re: Pregnancy Questions and Concerns 11/26-12/2

  • Not sure if I’m starting to feel Braxton Hicks contractions. At night time when I lay down, I start to feel a quick sharp pain that shoots to my “who ha” kinda like a UTI pain (if anyone has had that before, then you know the feeling). Then once I’m actually sleeping, my abs at some point will tighten up, release, tighten up and release. But that’s the only time it does it.

@jcbh2018 the first pain sounds like lightening crotch. Not fun but my OB isn't concerned. The other sounds like BH to me.

edit: spelling although I think I just don't care anymore about correcting spelling mistakes these days. haha

@jcbh2018 Ditto the above. The shooting pain is lightening crotch and the tightening is BH. However, just wondering - any other symptoms of UTI? UTIs van cause contr@jcbh2018

    @supercoolstephy
No judgment here ;) I just feel like the first time I heard about “lightening crotch” people were a lot earlier on their pregnancy than later.

  • @missblaze
No other symptoms. It only happens when I lay down for the night. The moment I get up the next morning I’m fine and even through out the day. And I don’t have any pain when I pee.
  • @EmilyLove25
I’m sorry I didn’t mean to rub that in. Haha
I hope you do get some.
Yea. They go away quickly but by the time I realize what I’m doing I’m not quite sure how many I’ve done. But it’s like if I’m doing crunches in my sleep without the actual movement of a “crunch” when I wake, my abs are sore for a little bit.
  • One of my teeth cracked today and now I’m just worried about how dental work can effect the baby. I made an appointment for Friday, and they are talking about X-rays and doing work using meds to numb me up. I have an OB appointment before I go in so I’ll ask her what’s safe, but just curious if anyone else has had dental procedures done with pregnant?
  • @steph30032 I haven't had any work done yet, but they took xrays of my teeth and gave me anti biotics. For the xrays they put two lead vests over my bump and when I asked if the anti biotic was safe for pregnant women they said yes. I don't think any dentist wants a lawsuit, and a lot of times it's safe to have dental work done while pregnant. Just putting you to sleep I think is the only thing they won't do.

  • @steph30032 Agree with above. I had a dental xray and they used two vests. Local anesthetic is fine.

  • @steph30032 yes you should definitely be okay! My OB gave me a two page document to present to the dentist for the do's and don'ts. Maybe ask your OB for one that you can hand right to the dentist on Friday.  Good Luck!
  • How much red raspberry leaf tea can I safely drink in a day? I know that super high doses can be used to try to trigger labor. I just really want to soothe my sore throat.

  • @maueraa07 I have a quart a day, and I have since 20 weeks. (At midwives recommendation, but I wouldn't have any qualms about having a bit more if thats what was feeling good.)

  • I feel like this baby is going to fall out when I walk so that’s fun. Luckily not much walking is required having a desk job but when I wobble over to the bathroom every 20min..
  • I'm a little worried. And I'd post this in symptoms but that's ended yesterday...anyway today I participated in a parade and carried a banner I would guess maybe 2 miles? Oh as a preface, I'm seriously inactive lol. Ok so towards the end I started feeling a horrible stitch-like pain on the left and right of my belly. Ligament pain probably. Now that I'm home and have ate and relaxed and everything I feel a different pain like I've done a thousand sit ups, my abs are SORE. Every time I bend or in any way use my abs (not that I have any) I feel like I'm seriously going to throw up and baby "freaks" out and makes my digestive system feel like it's going to get involved also... Is this normal? Did I really overdo it that bad? No doctors until 12/16, do I even need to go before then or is it no big deal?
I used to bike 4 miles daily until I guess late June, then I just gave up anything resembling fitness. I'm not overweight at all but I have gained 32lbs already and I'm 33, almost 34w.

  • Has anyone else been dealing with/dealt with an increase of anxiety or depression recently? I'm definitely going to talk to my doctor at my next appointment, but I was just curious if your OB/midwife deal with it, or if they just refer you to a psychiatrist. I'm just worried about PPD if I'm already feeling like this.

IMO, that is completely normal as you are going through a big life change (having a baby!) And as you get closed out will be more pronounced.  Just try to prep as much as you can- it will help relieve any feelings of being un prepared that are contributing ,  and try to relax,  realizing that what happens is kinda out of your hands now.

  • @EmilyLove25 thanks, I feel like that's right where I am.  I noticed it wasn't quite right this morning when I cried because DH had to go into work and I just wanted a break from momming. It's just so jarring because I didn't get this way with DS. When DH gets home I'm definitely going to get out for a bit and do something fun or relaxing.

  • @maueraa07, I also drink about a quart a day and have been for awhile. I didn't with DD2.

There was some recent research that stated that it doesn't induce labor, but rather tones the uterus, so contractions are more efficient.

  • @maueraa07, @EmilyLove25 hit the nail on the head I think. So many hugs to you!
  • @jasonsgirl92 Honestly, it sounds like you just overdid it today. It's easy to forget that your center of gravity has changed and it's easy to overwork muscles that you usually don't use that much. Drink a lot of water and rest up!

  • I am wondering if anyone has used the boppy infant lounger before?  I saw one that was so cute I just had to have it.  I was going to get a second boppy until I saw it.  Any thoughts... pros...cons?  I still use the boppy I have at bedtime for DS, but he will soon outgrow it's use..I think.
  • @egirl1025 I have a leachco podster that is very similar to a boppy lounger.  DS loved it even though he hated the swing and bouncy chair. I don't think there's a lot of use for the longer once baby can sit up in their own though.

  • @egirl1025.  I had one with DS and he loved. It was our most used baby item in the early days. He would lounge on the couch next to us and sleep there so soundly (always attended). It was great to bring to people’s houses too somyoud have a place to rest them if needed.
