Saturday Ticker change - 11/18

Didn't see one of these yet. Thanks to the Friday ladies for the questions that I'm shamelessly stealing!

How far along are you? How big is baby?

Any early labor signs yet? (Just wondering for fun)

How are you feeling?

What's going on this week?

Rants/Raves/Questions:

GTKY: Happy holidays! Do you have a favorite movie that you like to watch at this time of year (Christmas/Hanukkah/New Years)?

Re: Saturday Ticker change - 11/18

  • How far along are you? How big is baby?
38 weeks! Baby is the size of a winter melon.

Any early labor signs yet? (Just wondering for fun)
Not really. Some BH but other than that LO seems quite comfortable where he is.

    How are you feeling?
I feel massive. Up until the past week or so I've still been moving around pretty well but now I'm struggling a lot more with things like picking items up off the floor. Sertraline appears to be helping so I feel better mood-wise. Oh, and the heartburn is awful!

    What's going on this week?
Appointment Wednesday. I have to work Thursday which is kind of sad. At least it's a shorter day.

    Rants/Raves/Questions:
Rave: got another US about a week ago because he was measuring big. According to that he was a little on the large side (68th percentile) but not so big that they really have concerns. It was great getting to see him again and the tech showed us where he had a little hair!

Rant: One of my friends is, IMHO, a really rude parent and, although her son is cute, I'm not crazy about having them over a lot. They were here the other day and just out of the blue she says, "oh I need to change him. I'm just gonna use your bed," walks into our bedroom, and goes to town without even putting down a changing pad. Really?  WTF would make a normal person think that's ok? In the past when I've mentioned my opinions to DH  he's been a but dismissive and not wanting to be judgmental since we don't have a kid yet, but this time he actually agreed with me at least.

GTKY: Happy holidays! Do you have a favorite movie that you like to watch at this time of year (Christmas/Hanukkah/New Years)?
I love White Christmas, but it has to be after Thanksgiving. I also enjoy goofy movies like The Santa Clause, but those aren't ones I HAVE to watch.

  • @rebeckyjoy Ugh, how gross. Like, hello, that would be great to ask me if that’s ok to change your kid on my BED lol. I feel
like people lose basic commen sense sometimes after having kids.

How far along are you? How big is baby?
34+1, babies are the size of butternut squash or something. Hella big basically.

Any early labor signs yet? (Just wondering for fun)
None!  I had a really upset tummy yesterday, but it turns out, I just ate too many mini cupcakes.

    How are you feeling?
Really uncomfortable 90% of the time. I’m exhausted, I have painful carpal tunnel, restless leg syndrome every night, and I can’t sleep.  3 more weeks!

    What's going on this week?
I just have an NST test tomorrow, and then I’ll be chilling all week waiting for thanksgiving.  The SECOND thanksgiving is over, I’ll be Christmasing the shit out of my house!  I can’t waaaaaaiiiiiit!!!!!!

    Rants/Raves/Questions:
Just the regular 34 weeks pregnant complaints. I’m over it, but want them to stay cooking until Dec 9th. I’d rather them be safe in me than in the NICU.
Question: I’m thinking I may want to get a can of formula just in case I can’t get enough breastmilkgoing for the twins. Does anyone have a brand that they like?

GTKY: Happy holidays! Do you have a favorite movie that you like to watch at this time of year (Christmas/Hanukkah/New Years)?
Home for the Holidays is always my thanksgiving favorite. Once we put the tree up, we watch 1-2 Christmas movies a week. We always save National Lampoons Christmas for Christmas Eve. We watch that one with champagne and snuggles :)

How far along are you? How big is baby?
37+1 Baby is as big as romaine lettuce :)

Any early labor signs yet? (Just wondering for fun)
So many BH at a way higher intensity that what I've been used to - or as my midwife says, my body is "toning" haha

    How are you feeling?
A little bit of everything - excited, a little scared - glad to be almost done with work (11 more days!) We just were approved for our new place (lost our place to an electrical fire a while back) so I'm hoping baby stays put for our home birth til we actually have a home lol

    What's going on this week?
Midwife appt on the 22nd, she's going to make sure my home birth kit is complete and measure baby :)

    Rants/Raves/Questions:
Did I mention we have a place to live now!? #Rave

GTKY: Happy holidays! Do you have a favorite movie that you like to watch at this time of year (Christmas/Hanukkah/New Years)?
We don't celebrate the holidays, BUT my Dad and I used to watch the A Christmas Story marathon  when I was a kid so when I get the chance I always put it on for my girls - for nostalgia purposes

@rebeckyjoy changing the baby on your bed was so not cool!
@breezybee if you sign up online with a lot of formula companies (Similac, Enfamil, etc.) they’ll send you samples that might even be enough to supplement with if your own milk supply is decent, and if not at least you can try them and see what you like.  I got a pretty good amount and just signed my husband up so we’ll probably get more.

How far along are you? How big is baby?
    36 weeks (+ 1 day now that it’s Sunday)

Any early labor signs yet? (Just wondering for fun)
Just A LOT of Braxton Hicks which are definitely feeling more and more productive.

    How are you feeling?
Definitely big and uncomfortable, tired, etc. but not too bad for being so pregnant.

    What's going on this week?
Baby-wise I have nothing going on this week.  Otherwise we are finally getting our kitchen granite installed tomorrow, just in time to scramble to get everything in order before we have my parents over for Thanksgiving.

    Rants/Raves/Questions:
Ugh RANT:  I declined an invitation to my aunt’s for Thanksgiving because I am too pregnant and exhausted and too stressed trying to get my house together and I just don’t want to go anywhere and they just will not let me hear the end of it.  My parents should just go there like I told them, but instead they are coming to my house, which thrills my dad but has my mom crying, and according to my mom in today’s guilt trip my aunt “understands but feels like I don’t care about the family.”  Those things sound mutually exclusive to me...  Worrying about their ridiculous and unwarranted feelings is the last thing I am interested in right now.

GTKY: Happy holidays! Do you have a favorite movie that you like to watch at this time of year (Christmas/Hanukkah/New Years)?
Hmmm there are so many good ones but I don’t have a favorite.  I’ve been slacking the last few years on making time for them but I suspect this year I’ll be watching a lot!

  • How far along are you? How big is baby? 35w (+2 days since it is now Monday) Baby is the size of a Pineapple

Any early labor signs yet? (Just wondering for fun) I was super sick last Sunday/Monday for close to 24 hours. They had me go into OB to make sure I wasn't dehydrated. I was on the monitors for a few hours and was having contractions, but nothing sporadic and I wasn't even feeling them.

How are you feeling?  Feeling alright. Starting to get swollen and it's getting harder to sleep at night.

What's going on this week? I have my 35 wk appt this afternoon and tomorrow morning I have my pre-op appointment with the surgeon.

Rants/Raves/Questions: Rave - I can't believe how close we are getting! Plus I LOVE the holidays, definitely my favorite time of the year!

GTKY: Happy holidays! Do you have a favorite movie that you like to watch at this time of year (Christmas/Hanukkah/New Years)? National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. I usually watch it a couple of times each year.

@breezybee - I agree with @Piccola1988 on signing up to get free samples. We tried a couple different kinds of formula with DS and ended up going with Enfamil (It was what his stomach seemed to tolerate).

mammaharvey We always have the marathon on. When I first met DH he had a leg lamp in  his living room, and that's when I just knew we were going work.

How far along are you? How big is baby?
    35 wks, a cute rabbit.

Any early labor signs yet? (Just wondering for fun) No

How are you feeling? Exhausted and sore, DH leaving to go hunting for a week probably is a big source of my tiredness.

What's going on this week? It's thanksgiving! DH has to work Thur-Sun 8a-8pm, so my parents are coming over with a boat load of Boston Market. Tuesday hopefully setting up the Christmas tree, Wednesday a friend from out of state is coming up, and going to check out our new house and we get to see their new October baby.

Rants/Raves/Questions: DH will/better be home when I get home from work. Hopefully with DD. I need a break. Also my boss sent out an email blast which I don't think I should have seen, they are throwing a baby shower/luncheon next Friday, I just think it's so sweet!

GTKY: Happy holidays! Do you have a favorite movie that you like to watch at this time of year (Christmas/Hanukkah/New Years)? I love National Lampoons Christmas Vacation.

  • How far along are you? How big is baby?
    37 weeks +2!

Any early labor signs yet? (Just wondering for fun)
I don't think so.  I did have a vaginal exam last week and was told I'm 1cm dilated. Having some BH but not that intense or frequent.  LO was facing head down with their head to the left in my hip, and just before the first weekly midwife appointment last week shifted right into place and dropped a bit.  Pretty sure LO then moved back to head to the left as of a few days ago, and might have shifted back yesterday.

    How are you feeling?
Really tired, but ok, considering.  And big.  Yup, it's real.

    What's going on this week?
I'm grateful for the shorter work week.  Midwife appointment early tomorrow followed by my second weekly ultrasound and NST (due to my age- now 41!)

    Rants/Raves/Questions:
Can't think of any, I just want a nap!

GTKY: Happy holidays! Do you have a favorite movie that you like to watch at this time of year (Christmas/Hanukkah/New Years)?
Totally silly, but I love Elf.

  • How far along are you? How big is baby?
35+2 and baby is the size of a pineapple!

Any early labor signs yet? (Just wondering for fun) No nothing that I have noticed

    How are you feeling?
I'm feeling good bit I wish I could get comfortable enough laying down to sleep! The last few days my pelvis area has felt like I've been kicked so I'm hoping that's a good sign.

    What's going on this week?
I had an appointment this morning and also pre admitted with my hospital. It went well except they aren't sure how he's positioned and couldn't reach to check my cervix. Now I'm worried he may be breech and they will check by ultrasound next Monday to know for sure.
    Rants/Raves/Questions:
I don't have much except I REALLY hope my DD stops her screaming fits before her brother comes next month. She will scream for over an hour straight any time she doesnt get her way and it isn't getting any better.

GTKY: Happy holidays! Do you have a favorite movie that you like to watch at this time of year (Christmas/Hanukkah/New Years)?
My favorite has got to be either "This Christmas" or any cartoons that my daughter enjoys that i can watch with her
  • How far along are you? How big is baby? 37w (+2d)

Any early labor signs yet? (Just wondering for fun) Not even a little bit haha

How are you feeling? Better than last week- I can't tell if it's because my pelvic pain has gotten better or if I've just gotten used to it!

What's going on this week? I just had my weekly doctor's appointment today and all looks good. Cervix is closed, negative GBS results. Tomorrow is the meeting with our doula to discuss the delivery plans. Wednesday is my last day at work...! Thursday is Thanksgiving of course- DH and I are going to celebrate on our own at a cute restaurant nearby (literally 2 blocks from our place).

Rants/Raves/Questions: Rave: I got an Instant pot this past week and I'm obsessed! I haven't been able to do much cooking because standing gets tiring real quick - but the instant pot allows me to do most of the cooking while sitting at my countertop, and churns out delicious food. I'm obsessed!

GTKY: Happy holidays! Do you have a favorite movie that you like to watch at this time of year (Christmas/Hanukkah/New Years)? A Christmas Story and Elf are my favorites.
  • How far along are you? How big is baby?  35 weeks, pineapple

Any early labor signs yet? (Just wondering for fun)  I had BH early this morning, intermittently throughout the day, and then again this evening. They were accompanied by some lower pelvic pain. Not fun, made me super nervous at first and then just confused about whether it was normal or not. DH woke up early with me and acted pretty supportive, so that was very nice. I might go in for monitoring tomorrow if I still have this going on.

How are you feeling? Useless, listless, full of water.

What's going on this week? The plan is that we will drive 2 hours to the in-laws on Wednesday afternoon, then back home either the next day or the day after. Of course that all depends highly on how I'm feeling. Right now going out of town, even 2 hours away, seems foolish. I am, however, very touched that my in-laws ordered a new mattress for the guest bedroom after I was unable to sleep on the hard mattress last time. They are very considerate people.

Rant: I was going on and on about how great I have been feeling with family members, and how I haven't had any contractions since my fibroid issues resolved, and then BAM, this morning that all changed. If I was closer to 37 weeks I would be okay with this, but 35 weeks still seems too soon :(  I am surprised to see so many of you having similar symptoms.

I had to cancel a dentist appointment AND a chiropractor appointment today so that I could just rest in bed, and I got a letter in the mail saying an insurance appeal was denied, so I have to pay full price for something that should be considered covered under an "emergency service" provision. Insurance companies are so annoying. ALL the other services were covered except this one consultation with a surgeon. Why can't they just be reasonable?

Rave: It's a short work week! Yay! I like my job, but it gets tiring commuting all the time. On Friday my coworkers threw me a surprise shower. I was really surprised, especially when I saw my husband there as well. They bought us adorable children's books and a hefty sum on an amazon card. My supervisor sewed a hoodie towel with duckies on it, which is very sweet.

Questions: How close together are your BH contractions, @piccola1988and @mammaharvey ? Mine are often only about 2-3 minutes apart, but they tend to go away after about 30 minutes-ish.

GTKY: Happy holidays! Do you have a favorite movie that you like to watch at this time of year (Christmas/Hanukkah/New Years)? My in-laws watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation every year without fail. I enjoy quoting it along with them. I don't really have a "favorite," but I do enjoy Elf. Hmm...maybe I should watch that tonight.

Hope you all have a great week and your babies/bodies stay well!
  • @muskratbaby My BH are pretty sporadic, but super intense to where I have to kind of breathe through them or stop what I'm doing - they usually come in groups of like 5-7 per hour or something along those lines. Usually when I sit or stand or if I'm lying down, when I turn over :)
  • How far along are you? How big is baby?
I'm 35 weeks and one day. Unfortunately baby is huge... recent sono looks like 6lb 14oz... baby was 5 lb and 12 oz at 32 weeks .

Any early labor signs yet? (Just wondering for fun)

    Just Braxton hicks contractions

    How are you feeling?

im feeling kind of anxious about how big the baby is. Anxious about how much I've been working. Anxious about something bad happening to the baby after we have made it thus far.

    What's going on this week?

dr appointment on the 1st and then baby shower east coast tour. One baby shower at 1pm at moms house then second baby shower at Friend's house at 8p

    Rants/Raves/Questions:

GTKY: Happy holidays! Do you have a favorite movie that you like to watch at this time of year (Christmas/Hanukkah/New Years)?

hmm I don't have one but we usually watch a movie on Kwanzaa bc we forget what to do and what the different days mean
