Re: Weekly Chat - 11/19

  • What are you looking forward to this week? Thanksgiving, and all the turkey turkey turkey turkey turkey!

What are you dreading? Work. It's crazy busy this week. Currently working and i bet i'll be doing extra, even though it's a holiday week.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? Does not go crazy count?

Random thoughts? I can't wait for thanksgiving dinner.

GTKY: Do you keep in touch with anyone from high school? Not really. I'm friends with a couple girls on facebook, but we don't really chat much. I was the most awkward, annoying girl in high school and it took me a long time to grow into myself.

  • What are you looking forward to this week?
    Thursday and hosting friendsgiving

    What are you dreading?
    Friday. I don’t have it off. =(

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week?
I’ve got to finish grocery shopping and get the house clean.

    Random thoughts?
I want to pack lunches for this week, but I don’t want to pack lunches this week...

GTKY: Do you keep in touch with anyone from high school?
I used to be really close with my 4 best friends from high school. But since they don’t visit very often or their parents moved away I really only see 1 any more. After my parents retire and move in a couple years I doubt I’ll see her much.

  • @catlady2015 Is everyone's work crazy busy this week? I know mine and DH's is. How do you make your turkey? I was incredibly shy in high school, so I guess I was a little awkward, too.

@meggyme I feel your pain, I have to work on Friday and Saturday. We did our shopping already, thankfully, so I don't have to deal with any of the last minute nonsense. What sort of things do you bring for lunches?

What are you looking forward to this week? Thanksgiving and hosting Friendsgiving!

What are you dreading? The whole parking process at work this week. It's stupidly complicated and I don't wanna do it. For anyone who doesn't read WTO/TWW, employees at my location are being required to park at another location about 20 minutes away and we'll be bused in. It's going to add a minimum of 30 minutes to your commute because of the uncertainty of when the bus is going to get there and all that. So we'll see how it goes.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? A friend of ours is coming over on Tuesday and I think we're going to bake something. She and her boyfriend are going through a rough patch, so she's coming by to get out of the house for a bit.

Random thoughts? I somehow bought exactly as much lunch meat as I needed to get me through work lunches to the leftover fiesta after Thursday. I'm off Tuesday through Thursday, so I had enough roast beef for one more sandwich for tomorrow.

GTKY: Do you keep in touch with anyone from high school? Not too many. I have a couple of people on Facebook that I can't quite bring myself to delete, but as far as actually talking frequently or even semi-frequently, there's about four. My best guy friend (he actually performed our wedding ceremony!) and a few others.

  • @dreamscapes_ I used to bring leftovers, but we started doing hellofresh and it is the perfect amount for 2 adults and a 16month old, so no leftovers. There’s a cafeteria at my office I’ve been eating at, but I wanted to start packing lunches. I had a great idea to start making mason jar lunches, but haven’t executed yet.

Don't have time to properly respond and reply to everyone right now but just wanted to say @dreamscapes_ that parking situation is insane!!! I would lose my mind. 30 extra minutes is a huge amount of time to add to someone's commute!

Edited to add - I read this properly and saw that it's just for this week - but still! I'd be super grumpy about it!
  • Sorry I can't respond to all right now, but wanted to go ahead and put my post...

Looking forward to: my mom gets into town tonight!! Thursday after dinner DH, DS, and I go downtown to The Plaza for their Christmas lighting ceremony. And then Friday my sister and I are finally getting our tattoos!

Dreading: making green bean casserole. I don't like it, and for some unknown reason my aunt assigned that dish to me *major eye roll here*

Goals: clean so we can put our tree up next weekend!!

    R/R none

GTKY: not as much as I'd like :( I have a couple friends I talk to every now and then, but not too often.

  • @catlady2015 Fill up on turkey!!  I hope work isn't too crazy.
@meggyme That's too bad you don't have Friday off!  Boo.
@dreamscapes_ That's nice you're getting together with your friend to bake!  I love baking with friends and I'm sure she'll appreciate some time out of that situation.
@CecilB93What a fantastic week you have coming up!  I'm jealous you're getting a tattoo, I haven't gotten one in years and the itch is back!

What are you looking forward to this week?  Nothing in particular!

What are you dreading?  I'm having some trouble with my hip.  I think it's muscular and it's making walking a real problem.  I'm going for a massage tomorrow but I think it might need something a little more drastic.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week?  I have another craft sale this weekend so I'd like to get a few more items ready to sell.

Random thoughts?  I got my IUD out.  And by that I mean I accidentally pulled it out!  **Warning - TMI coming and long, long rant**  I had one of those stringless tampons in and when I reached up there to grab it, I must have grabbed my IUD string too and....well, it came out!  The strings this time were quite a bit longer than my first one and I just wasn't thinking about them, just grabbed everything I could and yanked.  My husband was less than supportive saying how I should just go get another IUD put in. No way!  I'm not going to go, get my cervix pried open, deal with the cramps to then get it taken out in a couple months.  I think it's just a super easy form of contraception and then he doesn't have to do anything.  We haven't had a chance to really talk about it yet but I don't think I need to do anything here, we can use condoms for the few months we'll need to.  If nothing else this will really force us to talk about if a baby is actually going to happen in the foreseeable future or not.

GTKY: Do you keep in touch with anyone from high school?  I have a few on facebook and have gotten together with a couple when we were on overlapping mat leaves.  We'll comment on each other's kids pics or whatever but that's it.  I had other friends in high school that didn't go to my school so I was there as little as possible and didn't make any really deep connections.

  • @mermaidca well that’s quite a development! Haha. It certainly makes for a great avenue to have that conversation.

  • @mermaidca - ouch! well, that's one great way to make that conversation a priority. But I agree, why get it put back in when it would get yanked in a few months? ;) The dude can deal - we have to do how many things to prevent pregnancy? He can step up and use something if it's that important to him to not try yet.

  • @catlady2015 Sorry work is so busy!  Hopefully time will fly and you'll be enjoying turkey in no time!
@meggyme Ugh, I'm so sorry you don't have Friday off!  That sucks. :(
@dreamscapes_ Man, and you have to work Friday and Saturday? I'm sorry!  Hopefully you have an awesome time at Thanksgiving and friendsgiving at least!
@CecilB93 Ooh, I love Christmas tree lighting ceremonies! Have fun! And what tattoo are you getting?
@mermaidca Holy cow your IUD situation!  I didn't know you could accidentally do that!  I've never had an IUD before, but I've heard they are really painful to insert, so yeah, I definitely wouldn't want to get another one if you're thinking about TTC in the near to medium future!  Good luck with the TTC timing conversation!

What are you looking forward to this week?

Well, I was supposed to have the whole week off (unpaid) but now I have to work today and tomorrow (paid at least!), so I guess I am looking forward to having Wed - Sunday off and for the mini paycheck I'll be getting!

    What are you dreading?
Not dreading exactly, but I am not looking forward to being in the office the next two days because I'm having a hard time focusing, since there are only three of us here and I already am on vacation in my mind, haha.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week?
Work stuff, but also I am trying to finish a new writing project - a comedy webseries. I've written the rough draft of two of six episodes and I'm hoping to finish a rough draft of the remaining four episodes this week!  Also, need to get on track diet and exercise wise!  I have been terrible with tracking calories the last three days. Ugh.

    Random thoughts?
I hate that the holidays are the leanest time of year for us financially. I always have at least one, if not two, unpaid weeks off and it really takes a bite out of the budget!

GTKY: Do you keep in touch with anyone from high school?
I'm friends with a good chunk of high school people on facebook, but I'm only really in touch with one person and she and I have been friends since we were 7.  We couldn't be more different, but she is one of the most kind, genuine people I've ever met and I'm glad we've stayed in touch all this time!  Side note: I did unfriend like 5 high people after the election, based on their Trump celebrations, and I have absolutely no regrets, haha.

@maureenmce that stinks that your vacation is shorter than anticipated, but the surprise pay is nice. I had to weed out some fb friends recently too. I can handle a difference of political opinion, but if you spread false, hateful crap then I don’t need to know what you’re thinking. Especially if you then get bent out of shape if you get called out or corrected on it.

ETA: if only it were so simple in real life. Unfortunately I work with a lot of people I would block on fb.

  • @meggyme 2 of my 3 close friends from home have had their parents retire and move away, so it makes it much harder to get together even around the holidays! That used to be the best time to catch up.

@dreamscapes_  I’d be grumpy too! I’m fortunate to be able to park like 20 yards from my classroom haha I would hate to have such a commute even after parking!

@CecilB93 I’m also making green bean casserole for our family dinner but I don’t mind it so much! Not my all time fave but I always eat some of it.

What are you looking forward to this week? The end of the day tomorrow because that’s when my break starts!

What are you dreading? Having to wake up for work just 1 more day this week :)

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? I am taking a grad class this semester so I have some school work I’d like to get done before the holiday, although I have 0 motivation.

Random thoughts? I’m SO excited for Thanksgiving. We have a lot of family coming into town for the week and staying at my parents’ house, and we always play a bunch of ridiculous games and drink a good amount and everyone has a good time.

Also, it’s not easy to respond to people from the mobile app! Did my best!

GTKY: Do you keep in touch with anyone from high school? Two of my best friends are friends from high school, and another that I knew from when I lived at home but went to a different school. Otherwise I don’t regularly keep in contact with people from high school other than occasional social media “likes”. I’ve been gradually deleting random high school classmates over the years from social media.
  • What are you looking forward to this week? Just one more day of work this week and then 5 days off!! Plus Thanksgiving of course!

What are you dreading? Not dreading really but just a slight bummer - DH and I are spending Thanksgiving apart (I'll be with my immediate family and he'll be at his grandma's house), so I'll miss him. We had plans to travel together but a couple things just didn't work out right, so we are making the best of it.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? Only goal is to get through work tomorrow and then enjoy my time off as much as possible. I'm planning to make a couple dishes for my family's Thanksgiving dinner too.

Random thoughts? Long time no see friends, I was lurking last week but never found time to post because work totally kicked my butt. Glad to be back :)

GTKY: Do you keep in touch with anyone from high school? I'm terrible at keeping in touch with people, so not regularly. I have a few friends from high school that I see every once in a great while and when we do get together, we always pick back up where we left off. So, I still count them as good friends even if we don't talk that often.

@catlady2015 What kind of work do you do? My work always gets wild right before and after the holidays - I get jealous of my friends whose jobs have "slow holiday seasons" haha.

@meggyme That sucks you aren't off on Friday! When is your friendsgiving? I've been wanting to try doing that for a while but then Thanksgiving seems to sneak up on me.

@dreamscapes_ Booooo weird parking/commute deal!!  At least you won't have to deal with it these next few days - hope you enjoy your time off!

@CecilB93 I can't stand green bean casserole - glad I'm not alone! Blech.

@mermaidca Girl! That is crazy!! I had no idea that could happen but hey it makes sense! And definitely don't go get another one for just a few months - I remember that pain, it is not worth it unless you're in it for the long haul haha.

@maureenmce Boo for unexpected work but yay for unexpected pay! :)  Good luck with your writing!

@dogmomma271 Your family's Thanksgiving sounds so much - enjoy!
  • @dreamscapes_ that sounds like a parking nightmare!

@meggyme sorry you have to work on Friday. Bleh.

@mermaidca woah! Yeah, it would be silly to get another IUD in. Saves you a trip to the OBGYN

@maureenmce I’m also struggling to not eat all the things. I’m going try to at least exercise every day...

@dogmomma271 yay for Thanksgiving break! My school has the whole week off!

What are you looking forward to this week? Thanksgiving and having the week off work.

What are you dreading? Thanksgiving will be a ton of people at my inlaws and it’s exhausting. I just hope DS doesn’t get into too much trouble and it should be fun.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? Cleaning, Christmas decorating.

Random thoughts? We went to see Justice League today and I really liked it!

GTKY: Do you keep in touch with anyone from high school? I’m actually going to my high school BFF’s wedding next month. She doesn’t live nearby, but we keep in touch. I’m friends with a bunch on Facebook, but I don’t see people much anymore. 10 year reunion was 3 years ago, so that was a good time.

  • @mermaidca good luck with the craft fair!! And if I had an IUD I wouldn't want to get it put back in for a few months either, tell him he can use condoms if he really wants to avoid right now.

@maureenmce my sister and I are getting coordinating tattoos. Mine will say "I'll be the anchor that keeps your feet on the ground" and will have an anchor, hers will say "I'll be the wings that keep your head in the clouds" and she chose fairy wings for hers. We've had it planned for years! But then I got pregnant and couldn't do it. So now I'm trying to get it done before we TTC again (which at this point is gonna be forever...)

@dogmomma271 I've never liked GB casserole and she knows t, so it's really weird she asked me. But at the same time, I'm gonna be the only person to consider the fact that my mom and my cousins wife are both gluten free, just have to figure out how to make it gluten free and also avoid rice flour!! (My mom has a severe rice allergy)

@diaphena I'm sorry you guys will be apart for Thanksgiving :(

@lalala2004 ah!! I want to see Justice League so bad!! We need to find a babysitter though, plus it's the holidays and we have to get presents still.

  • I know I'm super late to the weekly chat but I wanted to pop in and say hello anyway.

I haven't been on in a few weeks - I had quit my job at the end of Sept, but agreed to work from home while they looked for my replacement. I snagged an interview my first day working from home and started my new job right before Halloween!! I've been there for a few weeks now, but am still not comfortable surfing forums while at work. Today is the first day in a while that I've been able to catch up on things!!

What are you looking forward to this week(end)? Having some down time. H has to work which means I can sit around doing nothing. But I'm sure I'll get some cleaning and shopping done at the very least.

What are you dreading? Work Monday. All this time off near the holidays just makes it hard to want to go back in after a long weekend.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? Nothing really comes to mind. I need to get back on track with eating, working out, and drinking more water.

Random thoughts? I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving, Friendsgiving, and has a great weekend. I hope I can keep popping in here on evenings.

GTKY: Do you keep in touch with anyone from high school? Not really other than a few people I have on Facebook.
  • @CecilB93 The tattoos look great!  And awesome ice skating pics!  :)
