Bored and struck in a car? Annoyed at your parents/siblings/dh/in-laws? Have a last minute cooking question? Wanna share random thanksgiving things? This is the place for you!
My husband and I are enjoying a quiet thanksgiving dinner at home. DD is at her dad's parents for the day and my husbands client couldn't handle the trip to spend the day with her kids so we didn't have to drive her down. We're cooking two dinners today though since we're taking all the sides to my dad's tomorrow. Glad we're not at dad's today because my obnoxious brother (who got pissed off that I had the audacity to go to our mom's memorial obviously pregnant in a so-called attention grab...yeah I know...) is going to be there and I am so thankful for the days I can go without seeing him.

My MIL has this bitchy bff who attends EVERYTHING. She's the worst and threatened to yell at me in the restaurant today. Not to my face but to my MIL across the table where the two of them talked shit all lunch. I hate people

Wait - so you showed up at your mom's memorial while pregnant and he took offense to that?! Nice...

Reservations were at one. We got there at 12:50. Then we had to wait until 1:15 because it was busy. Her and MIL were bitching and I jokingly said "it's okay, normally we're waiting on people to still show up at your house." Someone is always late and we never eat before 4. I guess she thought I meant her so she went on a rant across from me at the table about yelling at me and how she was the first at the restaurant today, blah, blah... literally all of lunch they whispered and kept to themselves. It was hella awkward.
How dare you go somewhere while pregnant @rainafire77??? Bc you asked everyone to pay attention to you (insert eye roll).
Everyone else had already left my parents house after lunch so we started packing up our stuff to go home so I can nap. My mom said I thought you would nap here. Do you have to go back to your house? Ummmm we live 10 minutes away. Why would I nap at your house? Oh and we are going to see my parents again tomorrow.
Thanksgiving was exhausting for Chuck too. This was him 5 minutes after we got home.
My youngest sister is upset with me bc talking about Christmas plans she wants me to uproot my family to my moms house first thing in the morning to do Christmas there. Nope. Not happening. I want my kids to enjoy Christmas morning at home. My other sisters are just planning to come to my house and my one sister is making a huge deal of it. Yay thanksgiving
Y'all the people who lived in our house were easily the most disgusting people ever. We've been cleaning for like 3 days! Everything still has to be painted and such too. I'm super Thankful for my family pitching in so much because I am struggling big time! I hope you're all having a wonderful Thanksgiving! Sorry I'm not around much right now!
@ldawngirl781@chucksmom15 Yeah apparently I was being an attention seeker and taking away from "moms day". Ummmmm....mom's gone. This is a celebration of life memorial. Yes people congratulated us but it's not like I turned it into a baby shower or something.

@rainafire77 your brother sucks. How awful of him to say that!
@Melissa9481 on the plus side you got to eat early and go home afterwards, right?
@SarahFoley725 so happy you got to get into your new house! Everytime i have moved the place had always been gross and needed a coat of paint. Hopefully it comes together quickly for you!

Were you supposed to wear a mumu to hide the fact that you're pregnant?!
@SarahFoley725 congrats on the house! Our house had been foreclosed on twice prior to when we purchased it from a realtor. The previous owner had rented it out to tenants and then took their rent money and never paid the mortgage with it. The renters were apparently very very heavy smokers so the walls were stained with tar and everything was gross. Kilz paint takes the Smokey smell out and I know that it’s tough going right now but if you take it a little at a time, get the place good enough to move into and then work on the rest, it’ll come together nicely!
This is how I spent my thanksgiving. My son declared that we wear bunny ears on thanksgiving. I asked him what turkeys say and he replied “gobble gobble” but we aren’t turkeys... we’re bunnies... so what do bunnies say... “honk honk” haha we had a lovely turkey day as bunnies

Because you were supposed to show up... not pregnant??? So sorry you had to deal with that at your mom's memorial.
We had our first Thanksgiving alone together, and it was amazing! We're normally driving 7-8 hours each way to see one family or the other. We occasionally get a break from the driving when my in-laws have been willing to come here instead, but this year it was just the two of us for the first time ever.
I expected my mom to be really upset (since it was "their turn" for Thanksgiving this year,) but I told her we just have too much to do here and she understood. Probably won't be that way once the kiddo is here, so we are enjoying it while we can!
Just got home from Thanksgiving 2 out of 3, and I really want to eat all the ice cream out of the freezer. I’ve eaten a lot of pie today already...this baby has made my sweet tooth 10x worse.
Also made it through the awkward Thanksgiving at my dad’s with his new GF that I was dreading a little bit, but it was weird. How long does it take for post-divorce holidays to not be weird and uncomfortable? My parents were separated last year but just divorced this summer, so I’m new to this. Kinda sucks. Thankfully my siblings and I are close so we just kind of band together at these things, but I can’t avoid getting to know this lady forever if she ends up sticking around. Which, knowing my dad’s personality they’ll be married in a year....ughhhhhhh

@winnie1122 My parents divorced 19 years ago and holidays are still a bit odd. We have separate ones for my dad and mom. Mom has been remarried for over 10 years, so used to the step-dad, but my dad took Thanksgiving as an opportunity to tell us about a new girlfriend, including pictures and details on their first date. Maybe if they both are remarried it gets easier?
