Re: Weekly Randoms 11/20

  • I like the orange flavored glucose drink lol, I haven’t had the pleasure of trying the other ones- maybe this time I will.

  • @npkat take the size measurements with a grain of salt. They have a large error rate. When I was pregnant with DS they induced me because he was at least nine pounds they said from a U/s and he weighed 7. I know they are smaller now and should be easier to measure but who knows.

on a different note my husband brought rock tape home last night and taped my belly and it is an amazing difference. All the ligament pain is gone today and baby seems happier.

  • @npkat - yes I felt so weird and shaky and thought, hmm maybe I shouldn't be driving? that was terrible and I pray to God I don't need the 3 hour... I've heard wonderful things about the lime flavor but my hospital sucks and only had fruit punch :( and it was warm! It wouldn't have been so bad if it was a little cold, lol. @megpeg
  • Thanks for the warning @megpeg, I have heard that from a couple other people as well. That was our second ultrasounds, 4 weeks apart, that showed he was >90th percentile and we asked the doc how accurate it was, which he seemed pretty confident in it. I believe I will be getting another sizing u/s at some point so we shall see.
  • @npkat our little girl was also measuring WAY up there (98th percentile). I was freaking out but my doc said that it's just an approximation and not to worry as he wasnt concerned at all.

I am going for my glucose text next week just to rule out GD (im actually concerned about this as at 24 wks over alley gained agonist 29lbs) but until those results come back he said not to be concerned at all - totally normal
  • @crossfitbabybump that feeling is awful after the drink. You're already nervous and then add that nasty drink in and it add up to a pukey shaky feeling. Do you like how I am a connoisseur of Glucose drinks?
@bb3vj3n don't be too concerned about the test and results. Weight gain doesn't mean you have GD. I usually am so sick in the first trimester that by the end I only gain back up to what I started the pregnancy at. If you felt like it you could follow the diet until you get the results just for peace of mind.

  • @megpeg - that's why I love this community. They won't BS you like my other friends did. "oh no, it's not that bad!" or "I loved it!" wtf... no. Y'all need to get some REAL drinks if you LOVED it, lol.
  • @megpeg @crossfitbabybump I don’t trust people who say they LOVE that drink.
  • I am legit falling asleep at my desk right now.  Like my eyes keep closing and I'm having to jerk myself awake.  I finished all of my work this morning and I don't know what to do with the rest of my day haha.  Plus this day is going suuuuper slow.  But when I get home I won't have time for a nap because my IL's are coming over to watch the kids so DH and I can go to the hockey game.  Hopefully I don't fall asleep at the game!
  • @megpeg @crossfitbabybump @ShawnnaO I haven't had the drink yet this time around (I think the plan is my 28 week appointment), and I had the orange one my 1st time. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be (I'm so not a soda/sweet beverage drinker), but the way my MW's office does it is that they give you the drink before and tell you to drink it before the following appointment. They asked me to time it so I was at the hour mark while there and let the nurse/reception know what time to do the blood draw. I kept it in my fridge at home and it definitely limited the amount of time spent suffering because by the time I even got to the office I was about 50 min in. She also said if I want to eat before, water and high protein stuff is fine (recommended eggs). I definitely felt a little queasy/light headed on it, but as I said, I thought it'd be worse. I brought some snacks to eat right after as well.

  • @day38 - you got to drink it at home!? They made me drink it in front of them and I wasn't allowed to leave! I had to sit there for an hour.. by myself. Starving and cold. lol
  • @crossfitbabybump my ob office also lets you drink it at home. Mine is in my fridge now!
  • BRB - putting my glucose drink in the fridge now!!
  • @crossfitbabybump I have the same torture as you. Our labs make us drink it warm, within 5 minutes, in front of them. Then you aren't allowed to leave. And I am sorry. It's awful. Like old, warm, flat, orange pop. I know to bring a book now at least. I have to do it next week...I'm dreading it. I have a friend who actually loves it.
  • I found this office is laid back about most things (which I appreciate). They assume as an adult I can get it right :-)

  • Those that get to drink it at home, cold... I am jealous! lol Good luck @kalawa !!!
  • I guess if we have a UO tomorrow, mines gonna be that I thought the drink was delicious haha  :D
  • *sneaking in* I'm with @npkat that cold fruit punch wasn't the worse thing I'd had all day  :#

  • My OB also makes you drink it warm, in front of them, in less than five minutes! Awful! So jealous of you ladies who get to drink it at home!
  • @ShawnnaO Ugh why lady? Also I'm in teething purgatory too, so... solidarity. Sorry you weren't able to have a nice family dinner out, but seems like you were able to make the most of it.

Add me to the glucose drink isn't terrible club. It is like flat orange soda.  I specially requested being able to take the drink at home before my next appt, because the lab at my clinic closes around when my appointments would be over.

  • So my friend broke her hand in roller derby.  :'(

    Maybe TW?
And the last (and only) time I went to see her derby some girl broke her ankle really badly. Like, bent at a bad angle bad. *shudder*
    End TW

Let's just say I'm not keen to go again after those...

  • Been stressing over my vehicle, need something different, been trying to figure out how to fix her up and keep her, but wondering if baby would be ok in her in the winter. Ugh. Decisions!

Not looking forward to GD test myself. Doc told me yesterday we would do that around 28, so in six weeks. Was kind of hoping to get it over with.

I'm super excited for the goodies today and this weekend. I'm not a fan of dry baked turkey so I'm just here for the sides haha

    Happy Thanksgiving y'all!
First time Momma praying for a safe and healthy arrival.
  • This morning my SO and I watched a mockumentary called "Population Zero". I told him it's a fake documentary to show people that there is a strip of land that is considered the "death zone". Because it has no real jurisdiction. Now, he doesn't actually realize that the movie is fake, and the murder in the movie didn't actually happen. He has been searching this article they mention in the movie for an hour.  He can't grasp that it is fake.
  • I think I just ate more thanksgiving (and dessert) left overs this morning that I did all of yesterday... and now I want to fall into another food coma, even though I had a mid-morning nap already lol

What I really need to do right now isn’t clean up while the kids are having fun playing together so that we can put the Christmas tree up later.

  • We got all of our trees decorated yesterday. Today I talked DH into moving the sectional again and it’s resulted in moving some more furniture around. I swear the nesting desire is ridiculous. Lol!

last weekend we decided on a theme and such for the nursery so I want to finish decorating for Christmas tomorrow and then work some more in the nursery. It’s been the guestroom with storage in the closet for the past two years so I have to find a space for all the storage and I decided to unpack the books ((finally)) and reload thI bookshelves.

I wish I had a good place for my sewing machine @becausescience because I would probably try more projects and teach myself more. Lol. What projects are you starting?
  • @mdfarmchick I'm working on a car seat poncho for DD and a purse organizer.

  • @mdfarmchick good for you guys! DH moved all the decorations upstairs but I only got 3/8 trees decorated. And now everything is in the way to do the one I want to do.

  • @megpeg you put up 8 trees??
  • Amazed by the tree ladies! We put up a tree last year for the first time and it was a small one that sat atop our dining table. We got it like days before Christmas.

I can barely manage things on a regular basis but I wanted even a small bit of festive cheer!
  • @bb3vj3n I bet they’re talking about putting lights on trees outside!
  • The tree we bought has the wonkiest trunk I’ve ever seen. It’s crooked all the way up so getting it in the stand almost caused WWIII. I swear our seemingly happy marriage is put to the test every time we get a new tree. Last year it almost fell off the car so we had to hold it through the sunroof, a few years before that it totally died and had to be replaced a few weeks before Christmas... Maybe next year we will have a drama free tree experience.

That being said it all beats trying to fluff out our old fake tree, never going back to one of those.

  • @bb3vj3n - not all big trees- one full size 7.5 ft, 3 7ft skinny ones, 2 4ft ones, a 3 ft, and a 2 foot. One in every room.
