July 2018 Moms

Moms of multiples check in?

As some of us are getting an additional surprise at our ultra sound I figured I'd start a weekly check in post for mamas of multiples

How far along are you?
How many babies are in that belly?
How are you feeling?
Anyone still slightly in denial?!
Whats on your mind?
Did finding out change your plans of announcing?

Re: Moms of multiples check in?

  • How far along are you? 7w0d

How many babies are in that belly? 2

How are you feeling? Exhausted and nauseated

Anyone still slightly in denial?! Definitely not sunk in yet

Whats on your mind? I am hoping both babes stick it out. Baby A’s heartbeat was a little slower than Baby B’s but they did not elude to this being a concern. But ya’know moms gotta worry about something!

Did finding out change your plans of announcing? Not really. Same idea.

  • Went to the doc today and was pretty surprised when my doc said "oh and there's a second"

    How far along are you?
Meausred 7weeks 1day which is farther along than I guessed based of my LMP

How many babies are in that belly?
    Two!

    How are you feeling?
All the emotions! Like seriously all of them. Also a bit nauseous. I was great till last week and it just seems like I'm constantly sick feeling now.

    Anyone still slightly in denial?!
Total denial! Im still slightly in shock.

    Whats on your mind?
Everything. I'm slightly concerned about a new vehicle since two more babies won't fit in our pick up with my two current babies. My parents just moved in with us, so I'm a little concerned about space.

Did finding out change your plans of announcing?
Well I got shirts for my kids that can't 100% be used now as my son will no longer be the "middle" child. Haha

  • We were completely shocked last week when the OB saw two babies in two sacs at our ultrasound. Conceived naturally, 29 years old, no history of twins in family-just completely unexpected. We couldn’t be more excited though (only wanted to have 2 kids and I’ll be so happy to only be pregnant once) but now extra worried about being high risk and basically doubling the odds in many ways that something is wrong. Have had a few days to let it sink in and process though, we were in total shock on Thursday.

One baby measured 6w 3 days the other 6w 4 days on Thursday so just over 7 weeks now (based on LMP was 6w 6 days when we went in but OB said they looked right on track with good heartbeats). Knowing that twins are always delivered early (38 weeks max) these will definitely be June not July babies but figured I’d stay on this board anyway.

We we had already told some close friends and family so we actually had to make the rounds again and tell the news of twins which was fun. Still planning to tell the second tier of friends and family after our 10 week appointment on 12/11 if everything still looks good. Probably won’t announce to the broader world until late 2nd tri, if at all.

Glad and there are others going through the same shock!

  • My duo will definitely be born in June but I’m sticking here!!! We will all be in the same stages even though ours may be born a bit earlier. :)
  • Congrats ladies! I’m secretly hoping for twins.  ;) My Mom is a twin and my husband has some in his extended family so there’s always a chance!
  • Huge congrats ladies! I have a friend with IVF twins, and she loves being a twin mom!
  • Can I ask if you all had a thought that it may be twins or was there any clues that maybe gave it away before the ultrasound? I took clomid for the first time this month and believe I ovulated from both sides. Hcg counts are good, but the thought of twins hasnt left my brain since that test turned positive. I have to go for another blood test next Wednesday and then as long as the numbers are good they will set up my ultrasound. I secretly wouldnt mind twins. My mom is an identical twin and it has always led me to not minding if it happened to me.

My hcg numbers were not crazy or anything. I felt unmistakigly different than my other pregnancies (more sick more tired) and my husband and I both dreamed we were expecting twins the same night about a week before we had our ultrasound. Very odd. Best of luck to you!
  • No, I had absolutely no idea and not thought about it. I don’t have my hcg monitored or anything so no idea what the levels were. No history of twins in the family, conceived naturally, and this is my first pregnancy so I had no idea that the exhaustion and nausea I was experiencing was any worse than normal. Certainly got my husband to shut up about me complaining about it all the time once he learned we were having twins and I wasn’t just being a baby about nothing!

My last pregnancy was di/di boys, also one from each ovary. No family history of multiples, no fertility drugs, no super high hcg levels,  just complete and utter shock at my 6w ultrasound. I had minimal nausea, and couldn't have asked for a physically easier pregnancy!
