We have been looking at apartments for maybe two months now, hoping to move in February. We saw one on Friday that we loved, and they are the first place to have a unit available for us! We're taking a look at it today, so if we like it we're applying. I'm crossing all my fingers and toes because I'd love to have this one huge thing taken care of before DS is born.
Y'all, I am so bored at work... we need more randoms! My best friend has accepted an invitation to do the Peace Corps in Nepal (a two year commitment that starts in March). She is also the "god" (I'm not religious but you get the idea) mother for both and all of my children. I'm excited for her, but it is also hard for me to wrap my mind around entirely simply because I can't imagine doing it. In addition to having a husband, a dog, two cats and children, I could NEVER leave my parents for that long and also (superficially) would not want to live without the ability to drive to Target, my phone, the internet, my DVR, cable, my bed, etc. I'm sort of awful that way... Anyway, we had dinner last night and I am excited for her but also really anxious. I want her to get all of the things she'll want out of that experience, but I also want her to hurry home!
@EmilyLove25 - I'm bored, too. I have a meeting in about an hour and I just don't feel like starting anything before then but I'm quickly running out of things to waste my time on! I'm also really tempted to make today my Friday even though I don't really have the PTO to spare. I mean, I'm working a little from home Thursday/Friday so it wouldn't be 3 full days but I don't know. It doesn't help that DH is taking a half day today and then taking off the rest of the week!
I applaud people who can do stuff like Peace Corps but I agree I wouldn't be able to do it and mostly for superficial reasons if I'm honest. One of DH's close friends from college went to Mali with the Peace Corps and I just don't think I could do that!
@EmilyLove25 I'm pretty much to that point, too. Originally I wasn't taking any days off this week (but working from home Thursday) and then I changed that to working from home Thursday and taking Friday off. Now I'm thinking working 4 hours from home each day Thursday/Friday. I think tomorrow is going to depend on how today goes and how many people annoy me or ask me stupid questions.
I just got home from Thanksgiving Feast with my little man. I never knew how special that would be but I knew how excited I would be to get to be there. My parents weren't able to make it to a lot of things so its always been a big thing to make sure that if there is an event at DS school that I'm there. I also got to get dressed today haha and I had them take out photo so I could have a bump photo for tomorrow... with a cranky toddler who looks like he's happy but he was actually pissed. haha
I bought maternity support and postpartum support leggings from BLANQI (2) weeks ago during their Pre Black Friday sale. I couldn't justify $64 for each pair, so for 50% off I decided to splurge. Well they came in and I decided to wear them today, my God they are Heaven sent. They come allll the way up to my bra line with room to spare and I am 5'11 and just make me feel so supported. I wish I had bought them sooner, but they are super comfortable especially with all the pressure that I noted in the appointment thread.
I'm about to leave work and start my one hour commute home. I've decided I am going to stop at UDF and get some candy for the drive. For some reason that has been a BIG craving for me the past few weeks... weird things like Blow Pops, Smarties, and Twizzlers. Things I do not normally eat lol. Anyway, ladies, TREAT YO' SELF!
@supercoolstephy you were in my dream last night! We were hunkering down for a flood and you invited me to your place to stay until the water went down, apparently you lived on higher ground lol! I think I win most random for the week
@EmilyLove25 my sister did the PeaceCorps twice, once in Belize and then in Lesotho Africa. I went to visit her both times. I think it’s a great life experience but I’m also a big adventurer. Admittedly not having a shower and a toilet in Africa was probably more than I could handle though! Nepal is on my list of places to visit, I’m sure it will be beautiful!
Bahaha TInman87!!! I love it. I mean you could totally stay here but you'd have to share a bunkbed with my 2 year old. haha. You'd likely hear him from the bottom saying "hewoooo!!! hewoooooooooo!!!!!!!!" haha
Y’all... I’m in denial that I supposedly have to work a full week next week. Essentially I have two “hard” weeks and then it’s coasting time. Surely I can make it two weeks, right (....) ? Also, MIL needs to leave. I’m over having guests
Just started packing my hospital bag. Also got the car detailed this weekend so we can decided on car seat configuration. Nursery is so so close to being done. Home stretch ladies!
So that tailbone pain I've been having was an abscess. I finally went to Urgent Care this morning because the swelling doubled in size yesterday and last night I could barely make it up the stairs. You guys it was so bad and I wish I had gone sooner! They drained it which hurt like a bitch and I have to go back in a couple of days to check it and remove the drain. The doctor just kept saying how surprisingly deep/large it was because from the outside I guess it didn't look terrible and dear lord the smell of the infection was the worst thing I've ever smelled. Poor DH feels really bad because he was sure it was nothing and had originally convinced me to just wait and call my doctor on Monday.
So now I'm laid up in bed until I feel up to going to pick up my antibiotics. We were supposed to get our Christmas tree today but that's not happening.
@gusgus14 Oh no!!! I do the same thing to hubs all the time and it turns out to be something super awful! Just shows you how much you don't actually complain about things and how your pain tolerance is! Hope you get to feeling better soon!
@cyanope@conineml thanks, guys! Just goes to show I should trust what my body is trying to tell me. They said I should expect the pain to start easing up as soon as tonight so it doesn't sound like recovery will be bad! Probably taking tomorrow off work though.
Thanks everybody! I'm already feeling so much better since having it drained. Still have some pain and the area is sore so I'm definitely going to take tomorrow off work so that I don't have to sit on it all day but I can actually function which is nice. Yesterday I could barely move and even lying down had started to hurt and I'm already a lot more mobile just since this morning so yay! I'm also not having to max out on Tylenol anymore which I wasn't super comfortable with but was having to do for a few days.
@gusgus14 Oh that sounds awful! I hope everything goes well now and I'm glad it doesn't hurt as much as it did.
