Re: Thursday Ticker Change 11/16

  • I'll start us off.  :)

Any early labor signs yet? (Just wondering for fun) Nope! On one hand, I'm relieved since I'm only 35 weeks, but, on the other hand, I would love to know that things are starting to happen! Cervix checks will start next week. I have a feeling that baby girl will come around 37 weeks, but who knows?!

How are you feeling? More energy than the past couple of weeks, but definitely achy and sore. Also, I'm sick of peeing all the freaking time!

What's going on this week? My birthday was Tuesday, and DH, my family, and my coworkers spoiled me rotten. Major perk of being 8 months pregnant on your birthday- everyone's really nice to you! Decorating for Christmas tomorrow (yay!) and looking forward to an easy weekend and for Thanksgiving next week. Also excited about Thanksgiving break- two-day work week!

Rants/Raves/Questions: Just so excited for the upcoming holidays and baby girl's arrival! It's truly the best time of the year.

GTKY: Happy holidays! Do you have a favorite movie that you like to watch at this time of year (Christmas/Hanukkah/New Years)?  Home Alone and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation are the best. I also love A Christmas Story, Elf, How the Grinch Stole Christmas (old animated version), and White Christmas.

  • @hellothere47 For a second while I was filling this out my brain was working very slowly and I was like, It's Thursday??!!  I thought it was Friday??  Noooooooo...... Oh wait, yeah it is Friday! Yes!  Happy Belated Birthday!!!

Any early labor signs yet? (Just wondering for fun)
None.  While I'm fine not being uncomfortable, it would be nice to feel like something is happening.  Having a window of like 4 weeks where a perfectly healthy baby could arrive is really messing with me!

    How are you feeling?
About the normal amount of tired for me.  I didn't get enough sleep this week so I'm looking forward to catching up this weekend.  Trying to stay busy though to keep the aforementioned anxiety at bay.

    What's going on this week?
We had a checkup where they finally did something besides the doppler and "any questions?".  I was gbs negative (whoo!), cervix totally closed (eh), baby head down (whoo!).

    Rants/Raves/Questions:
We hired cleaners to come to the house for the first time ever and I think it was totally worth it.  We needed a deep clean and I came home just marveling at how much better everything looked.  The rub of course is that we did this because we're having people over Saturday for the first time, and it's like "oh great, they have no idea how much better this looks than before!" lol.

GTKY: Happy holidays! Do you have a favorite movie that you like to watch at this time of year (Christmas/Hanukkah/New Years)?
Can I say all of them?  Seriously though, my favorite Christmas tradition - the one that I do no matter what else we have going on - is sit in front of the TV and watch all my favorite Christmas movies and TV specials while I wrap presents.  Favorites ranked below, in SB for length.  I will say up front I'm not a fan of the Hallmark-type movies.  Way too corny and heavy-handed for my taste.

Movies: Four-way tie for first between White Christmas, Christmas Vacation, Home Alone, and It's a Wonderful Life.  Then:  Love Actually, Elf, While you Were Sleeping, The Santa Clause, Holiday Inn, Meet Me in St. Louis, Muppet Christmas Carol, It Happened on 5th Avenue, Home Alone 2, Miracle on 34th Street, Jingle All the Way, Serendipity, Just Friends, Family Stone

TV: Charlie Brown Christmas, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas (the animated version only!), Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus is Comin to Town, Mickey's Christmas Carol, old Lawrence Welk and Andy Williams TV Specials on YouTube.

I don't watch all of these every year, but keep track of which years I watch what and then alternate.  I also love A Christmas Story but it's on all day Christmas Day and we usually catch one (or two!) showings so there's no reason to watch it beforehand lol.

Other then the contractions I've been have for a few weeks no. I had an Ultrasound on Wednesday and found out baby is measure over a week ahead.

    How are you feeling?
I've been feeling good i guess lol. I have energy at night and waking up earlier... Wish I could sleep but that's not happening. I wake up so often to go pee and having leg cramps.

    What's going on this week?
I'm now on to weekly appts. I'm interested to see if I'm dilated at all. I get the test for gbs this Wednesday.

    Rants/Raves/Questions:
Raves: I was up till 1am last night organizing all of the baby stuff from the showers. Of course everything is still in bags and not washed because we are not in the house yet. But i feel better because i literally organized all clothing by size and bath stuff, as well as made a pile of returns. On thing i noticed was we did not end up with a bunch of pants. I found that as odd but thats ok i have no problem going to a second hand store for stuff like that.
Rave: We found out we might be able to close on the 28th of November now!!! super excited to get in and have some time to settle before baby comes.

GTKY: Happy holidays! Do you have a favorite movie that you like to watch at this time of year (Christmas/Hanukkah/New Years)?
By far my favorite is A Christmas Story. I know its on all the time but I even have it on DVD lol.
  • I apologize for my lateness ladies. This last week has been a bit crazy getting last minute things ready for Everetts arrival and getting ready for my maternity leave. So here in the middle of Sunday night trying to catch up......

Any early labor signs yet? (Just wondering for fun)

At my 36 week appointment on Thursday we found out that I am at 1.5 cm dilation and 70% effaced. My doctor said she wouldn't be surprised if we don't see our little guy by at least 39 weeks if not sooner. Thus the hyper driver of feeling like things need to be ready now just in case. Plus we have had two nights last week when we had the maybe we need to go in feeling but then the contractions pass.

    How are you feeling?
Vwry sore and achy, mostly located in my hips and pelvis. I try to get out of my desk at work at least ever hour or so at that helps a bit. The heartburn has become a daily if not multiple times a day issue.... I had never experienced it before this tri and now I know why my SO will veto food choices on certain days.

    What's going on this week?
This weekend I have my last drill with the army reserves before the baby comes, my SO is at home hanging out decor and shelves in the nursery. We have our next OB appointment on Tuesday. We have decide to just stay at homeboy for thanksgiving, I work the next day and our families are three and four hours away, plus we didn't want to chance being on the road and having him come early.

    Rants/Raves/Questions:
I am entering the I am so done stage. I am wanting my body back, although I know I will miss this little bond I have created with Everett. I am excited to crest a whole new one and share that with my SO.

GTKY: Happy holidays! Do you have a favorite movie that you like to watch at this time of year (Christmas/Hanukkah/New Years)?
We love A Christmas Story- I am not sure how a feel about the live action version but I know we will give it a go, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and we usually do a second or more watching of a Nightmare before Christmas.
  • @whiska I absolutely love your comprehensive list of favorite Christmas movies. And I agree about giving the cheesy Hallmark ones the side-eye.

@ridedatide I'm in the same boat with not receiving many pants for the baby. I think I was gifted one pair total at my shower. I'm all for buying second-hand pants too!

@aheqoefamily Good on you for deciding to just stay home this Thanksgiving. I would have done the same thing!
