This thread is for those who are trying to maintain physical activity throughout pregnancy. It can be walking around the block, hitting the gym, training for a marathon, and everything in between.
There is no physical activity too small during pregnancy.
Your motivation for getting in some exercise this weekend-
How far along are you?
What type of activity/activities have you been doing?
How are you feeling about your activity? Any recent successes you want to share? Any challenges coming up?
Questions, raves, rants, concerns?
GTKY- I have nothing for this this week, so just say a random fact about yourself.
Re: Physical health check-in 11/17
Walking, stair stepper, rowing machine, light weights
I can finally say I feel good! I worked out 4 times this week, which is 4 times more than most other weeks
Any favorite half hour shows to binge watch while working out? I just finished both seasons of One Mississippi, and I have Parks and Rec, The Office, and 30 Rock memorized. It has to be interesting enough that I look forward to exercising and only let myself watch it then. I might try Scrubs next since I've never seen it and people on here seem to enjoy it according to other threads. Haha.
I grew up in suburban NJ, but I'm 33 and I still don't know how to drive. I lived in NYC for 10 years right after high school so I never needed to force myself to learn. Now that I'm in Philly, it's still walkable, but almost everyone has a car to get from here to anywhere else. I really need to get over my fears and learn so I can take our child places, but it's even scarier now that there'll be a kid in the car!
I didn’t learn to drive until I was 19. I hate driving.
I'm 12+6 today
It's my first full week of going to the gym and I swam, walked, and biked.
I haven't felt like swimming this week because it's so damn cold outside. I feel kinda pathetic just walking on the treadmill but I was actually so sore the next day.
@abhphilly How I Met Your Mother is a good one. I used to time my gym visits so that I could watch it on the TV on the treadmill and the time always flew by.
Hmmmm random fact. Someone on my mom's side of the family, a few generations back, was co-inventor of the tabletop shuffleboard game they have in a lot of bars. My husband thinks that's why I'm good at board games and yard games and stuff but I think I'm just better than him
@mileswithmyles I was so hooked on Making A Murderer and Serial. Any other good ones?
Hiking, Biking, Walking, Yoga, weights/other strengthening (lunges, squats etc)
I had a good walk with the dogs today and went to an awesome yoga class! This week hasn’t been as great as last week, but I have high hopes for the weekend. Will either do a family hike in the morning or go to yoga class before my husband works..
hmm... it was a tradition every year on my birthday, my family would shoot off fireworks. Partially bc my much older brother shot them off the night I was born while my parents were at the hospital and he got out of being in trouble when he said it was for his baby sister, ha... partially bc they are easy to get for a summer birthday... but mostly bc my family likes to play with fire.
Sorry I posted and ghosted! We had family coming to stay at our house so I was cleaning like mad. We then went to a huge craft fair today which leads to my random fact- I love craft fairs. My mom and I go to the same few every year and do random ones when we hear theyre good or need something to do.
I bought 2, 6" tall posts painted like pilgrims today. DH just rolled his eyes at me as I put them out, hah.
@abhphilly, it's super inappropriate and dirty, but we're really into the new Future Man series on Hulu. It's super funny and only 30ish minutes an episode.
@fraufarbissina, treadmilling can def be exhausting! Well done doing something different, but staying active!
@holli0801, that' so cool! How much older us your brother?
I had my 16 week appointment a couple days ago and I gained 4 lbs since my 12 week appointment, which they said was good. FWIW before pregnancy I was normal BMI so I need to gain 30 lbs (ish) for my entire pregnancy. I can't really fathom being that heavy, but I will do anything for the baby!
