  • @kristimh80 I knew it covered some but I didn’t realize how good it was till I spoke to the finance Dept.

@vlagrl29 ATTA GIRL!! It totally started to feel routine the last couple months and forced.. we started doing these sensate exercises the last couple weeks, to get the connection back and it’s pretty much defined as  to put the emphasis on touching in a mindful way for oneself without regard for sexual response or pleasure for oneself or one’s partner. Light some candle, get totally naked and have your partner touch you over every inch of your body from head to toe, softly and intimately .. no sex or penetration! Just touching each other! Look into it. Our couple therapist suggested it a long time ago and we’ve been doing it every time we feel like we lose our connection or it’s starts to being routine like.

@Momifbysea I’m really hoping we can get the egg retrieval done next month !!!! I’ll feel much better knowing that they will be waiting for me once the surgery is done. This way we can go right into the transfer once I’m healed  :) maybe by feb FX

  • yeah @ndz2018 - I lit the candles last night in our bedroom and put on some music.  We left the dogs in the family room and I think at one point I got too loud cause our puppy just started freaking out barking and we were afraid that would wake up DD.

@kristimh80 - get those eggs going!!  Glad you have a high AMH

  • Thanks so much @momifbysea!  I’ll definitely pop in here and there - this is where I started on TB last July.

@ndz2018  Glad you have a plan!  So do they actually remove one of them?  If so, how do they pick which one?

@vlagrl29 Think of yourself as almost two weeks pregnant!

@kristimh80 If you can see my signature it has details of my four IVF cycles - and I’m happy to go back to look into any further details if needed.  I wish I knew someone local going thru treatments OOP - I just donated six gonal-f 450 pens and 11 vials of menopur to my clinic because the one lady to whom I offered them’s RE had her on follistim instead.  I really hope you’re one of the lucky ones for whom it works on the first cycle.  But it’s sadly not unusual for it to take multiple.  It can be very expensive (financially and emotionally) trial and error.  The IVF threads over at Infertility are great (not sure if you participated over there for your IUIs), but I admit it could sometimes be frustrating seeing #s from younger gals.  I know everyone is different and on her own journey, but with IVF everything is quantifiable so sometimes it’s hard.  Yay for a great AMH!  You’re not PCOS, are you?

  • @artemis618 Thanks so much! No, I'm not PCOS...all my cycles are normal, just only thing we can figure out is I don't always ovulate on my own, so have a higher AMH. Guess I'll ask more on Friday during my MOC and SHG. I have med teaching that day too for an hour. I keep seeing girls say they think lupron messed up their IVF's, so I need to start a list of ?'s! Yes, I'm on the other infertility boards. I use to live on there during my IUI's over the Spring / Summer. We took a break for a fw months, so I took a break from them all for my sanity. So now I mainly lurk unless I see someone I know :)

  • @kristimh80 good luck as you prep for ivf. As soon as AF shows I'll be continuing a few more iuis then just naturally. We looked at financing ivf and it was 800 a month for 7 years for 2 cycles I just wasn't willing to risk debt on a maybe. I do believe it will happen for me so I'm not going to stress about it anymore. They couldn't find anything wrong so Dr thinks just egg quality due to my age so I'm focusing my energy into trying to better my egg quality and destressing. Yoga a and meditation.
  • @Labluver2 FX for you it all works out this next round!! I completely understand what you mean. We took awhile off medicated cycles for a mental break and to see what we needed to do. I told my DH I didn't want to finance either and be paying for my child til they were in kindergarden. We got lucky and will be able to make it work and pay for it. But I don't know what I'll do if we don't have we don't have many embryos to freeze. It's all really such a gamble. We always said we wish we could buy the trigger shot on our own and do that lol Take care of yourself and do what's best. Taking a few months off really helped me clear my head.

  • @kristimh80 You just reminded me I have one extra Ovidrel shot (new clinic uses...the other thing not Lupron) that I forgot to donate...

Also, this last cycle’s fees( plus an extra several grand for PGS) are coming out of this month’s credit card auto debit.  It is indeed painful, especially when it’s gambling.

  • Well I had all fertility testing done last year so maybe it was the cd3 test? I've put in a message to my OB to see if it was in fact tested.

  • Yes! @Labluver2 it will happen!! For both of us. I don't even think I have poor quality eggs anymore.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • so OBs nurse didn't think they test AMH on CD3 - kind of important right?  Why I'm I the one asking for all this testing?  OB is out of office today but his nurse will call me back to see what all he tests for fertility and see if I can get that one done.  She said it would be thru blood.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • @vlagrl29 Yes, it is all done thru blood work. They also tested my thyroid, and if my chicken pox and rubella were up to date or if needed to have those shots done again. I think RE's go a little farther than OB's do with fertility since it's their main concern they always are treating. Not a bad idea to get a semen analysis for your partner done as well if you guys haven't already.

@kristimh80 Aw...how disappointing for your DH.

@vlagrl29 AMH can be tested any time of the month because it doesn’t fluctuate like the CD3 ones.  It’s I think recently gotten some press about being not that valuable an indicator anyway (previously thought to a useful indicator of reserve), and I thought it was probably most helpful for maybe indicating how you might respond to stims.

  • Well I called Quest and they easily emailed me the results from that day FSH was tested but not AMH so I def. want that tested with my OB.  This is a newer OB for me as of March this year so the nurse is going to find out all they test and let him know I want that tested as well. I should hear back tomorrow from her.  I want to get as much as an OB does because it's covered in my insurance.  IF we ever decide to go RE we will but right now I just want to enjoy my new positive state of mind lol.  What is DHEA sulfate?  That was tested and it was out of range apparently everything else CD3 was good.

DH had his swimmers tested last year and they are good as well.

  • @vlagrl29 my amh is very low 0.3 which is why my re wanted to start ivf right away but he said I could get preg naturally he's seen it happen. The fact that I respond to the femera and gonal and my FSH is normal during my cycle his guess is egg quality and just finding that perfect egg. AF is due Mon or Tuesday so I'll be going back sometime next week for CD3 blood work and us I'm going to ask if there is anything he recommends me to take for egg quality that I'm not already taking.
  • @Labluver2 exactly what I’ve been told, my numbers look good for 43 but it’s egg quality and I’ve been reading/learning there is really so much in our control for improving that! It is possible for us!
  • @Momifbysea I'm doing all I can I changed my diet to clean eating, added more exercise and yoga, cut out chemicals in my cleaning products and deodorant, taking coq10,maca, prenatal, vit d, drinking apple cider vinegar to help my pH down there for as good sperm environment, red raspberry leaf tea. I can't think of anything else now its in gods hands. I do believe we will get our rainbow baby!!!! I pray for each and everyone of us every night.
  • well now I'm interested and nervous to get my AMH test lol.  On one had I'd like to know yet on the other it might depress me.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • @vlagrl29 its only part of the puzzle. I'm now learning that and lots of woman get pregnant naturally with low AMH. When I first got my results all I got out of it was I can't get pregnant which is far from the truth I did go into depreasion. More reaseaarch I did and talking to people on my fb group really helped me see that I can get pregnant even with low amh. So if you get it done and it comes out low just know that it can still happen it just might take longer.
  • Yup, AMH is just one piece.  Mine was 1.42 last December, which was normal for a 39 year old.  And we had gotten pregnant naturally 5 months prior.  But at that age, I think it can just take longer to find that good egg (we unfortunately just didn’t have time to go thru them at the natural rate).

There is a whole long running Low AMH thread over on Infertility - and there have been successes there.

I think you are very dedicated with all those changes you have made with your lifestyle @labluver2 For me there is a fine line where if I do too much I might go nuts.  If you made all these changes maybe you should have all your levels re checked to see if they improved.  A natural fertility dr I watch on youtube said typically if you add Vt d to your diet your AMH should rise.

  • @vlagrl29 Maybe your OB can refer you to an fertility dr for this test. My insurance covered the "why" part of infertility, so it maybe worth looking into just to know.

  • Mine won't cover it. Anything coded IF doesn't pay out. @kristimh80 I had an appt with my naturopath dr and she said we can look into it when I get my levels rechecked in December. It won't be coded IF with her.

  • @vlagrl29 Gotcha...my insurance doesn't pay anything IF related either but they'd pay for the blood test for answers. It's all such a pain lol

@ndz2018 sounds like a great plan!

i have a 6 yo student and was talkng to her mom today. She has 6 kids all c sections. Their youngest she had at 42 and got pregnant naturally. It's nice to hear that it is possible.

  • @ndz2018 Your #'s are close to mine. Cheers to a good amh #'s! I just loaded up with more supplements at the store last night. My DH thinks I'm crazy, but I figure anything can help! We'll learn our retrival fate here in a couple of hours.  :#

  • I wish all you IVF ladies lots of luck!  Assuming AMH is covered by insurance I think I'll get it tested in December.  I'll have to get the quest code from my doctor and call blue cross to confirm.  Not that it would change anything we are doing at the moment.  Speaking of supplements I probably take like 15 a day. lol

  • @ndz2018 that’s interesting your retrieval will be so soon! When I get my calendar it’s alway about 5 week’s duration, but then again, they start me on BCP cd1 to about cd22, then I start stims a few days later so I’m usually in the middle of my period on day 1 of stims.
  • Not a fertility question exactly, but does anyone know if its ok to put a couple drops of peppermint essential oil in my tea? I’m at work and have had terrible postnasal drip cough all week and zero sleep the last two night so feel like I’m sleepwalking and am desperate. I realize the odds are that I’m not pregnant right now BUT I like to hope and the fact is, we did BD around when I think I ovulated. I’d hate to mess anything up for something as stupid as using an oil I shouldn’t!

@Momifbysea I am not an expert but I think diluted peppermint oil should be ok.
Also my nurse said she will be in touch with instructions over the next few weeks.. looks like we’ll be freezing SO sperm next tue. Guess we will need our pgs testing and freezing money up front. Thank goodness for Xmas bonus time! Looks like it’ll be about $7-8k all together UNLESS , which it looks like will be the case that SOs sperm has a low count and 0% morph so it looks like insurance may cover the ICSI :) which will save us like 2k off of that!
  • @kristimh80 how funny you mentioned the chicken pox and Rubella immunizations .. I need My Rubella shot again Bc I was Found that I wasnt Immune :/ getting it today. However they are still moving foward with the egg retrieval next month regardless. SO and I are doing a detox these next two weeks while waiting for AF. Getting all the toxic crap out of our bodies!  They want us to
use protection these next few months too Bc of it and all the upcoming stuff (surgery, egg retrieval, etc) as the don’t want us to conceive naturally right now. I’m totally ok with it.
  • I don't know much about oils @momifbysea but don't see why it could hurt.  I've been feeling super positive about everything lately so I think positive thinking helps too.

  • @Momifbysea Because my last cycle was natural start (no anything before starting stims on CD3) and because I only ended up stimming for 7 days, our retrieval (9/28) was less than a month after our initial consult with our new RE (8/31 - incidentally the day before I ovulated the previous cycle) So they can be quick!

@ndz2018 Hopefully ICSI will be covered as it sounds like it may be indicated.  For my two insurance cycles, ICSI was covered even with DH’s normal analysis.  Every little bit of coverage helps!
