Just out of curiosity... What happened to all of your wedding dresses after your wedding? I’m thinking about having it turned into a cocktail dress, but if I have a daughter I want a picture of her laying on it (newborn pics) Of maybe keep it and do something for one year pics... Anyway... What did you all do with yours?
(Bonus points for pics!)
Re: Gtky wedding dress edition
I love the Gatsby style dress! It's gorgeous!
My dress is currently hanging in my guest bedroom (which will be the baby's nursery) dirty in the garment bag. I had planned to get it cleaned but never did. I loved my dress, it fit me like a glove and I felt like a princess all night. I'm not sure what to do with it, I like your idea of having your daughters picture taken on it when she's born though!
far I’ve either been prego or still too postpartum fat every year, ha ha. Since our anniversary is in August this will likely not be the year either. Maybe I should give up?
*TW infant loss*
When my newphew died after being born at 30 weeks, they put him in a little silk dress made out of someone's donated wedding dress, and then gave it to my sister with the box of his things they sent home with her.
*end TW*
It meant a lot to her, and I would love to be able to do something like that, but I LOVE my dress and just can't part with it. No idea what I'll do with it, or if my daughters will want to wear it, or anything like that, but for now, I just stare at it and remember how awesome that day was.
That one's a bad picture, but the train is my favorite part

Mine is vacuum sealed into a tiny bag and sits at the bottom of my closet. I can't think of any reason I'd ever wear it again but I'd love to!
Edit to add pic if you want to see. I like this picture cause I look goofy. Sorry if huge.
Mine is cleaned and preserved and at my parents house. I'm not sure why but I guess I thought that was the right thing to do at the time. If I don't have a daughter, I may just donate it. If I do, I dunno...the likelihood that she will like it, it will be in fashion and fit her or able to be altered to her is so low, but would I regret it if I didn't keep it? But I guess I just didn't want to make that decision at the time.
Mine is hanging in my old closet at my parents house. My mom bought me one of those boxes from David's Bridal to preserve it but I haven't gotten around to doing it. I honestly don't feel super attached to my dress because I had regrets about the one I chose. It came down to two dresses when I was shopping, I let people in the store talk me out of my initial favourite, and I've regretted it ever since!
Going through my wedding pics made me realize I have surprisingly few full length pictures of my dress that aren't a little too bright to see the details! Enjoy one of us with horror faces to protect the innocent, followed by a picture of the dress that got away.
Now I feel kind of sad and need to share at least one picture where my dressed actually looked pretty okay. Done AWing now.
I loved my dress so much. I am not sure what I want to do with it yet but I'm definitely hanging onto it.
@thunderberry After I narrowed mine down to the one I bought, I then found one on the clearance rack that was really pretty, and then I was torn because it was about $500 cheaper. I am so glad my MIL was with me and told me to go with the one I truly loved because in the end $500 is not worth getting a dress you don't love. I think your dress is gorgeous, and honestly I thought the stock photo was your actual dress that you included since the detail is hard to see in the first dress.
@molly1108-2 I agree, I'd rather keep my dress and have my daughter(s) not want to wear it, then to not save it and have them tell me later that they love the pictures of it and would have totally wanted to wear it!
@lginnan What an awesome idea! Like I said, I just can't bear to part with mine right now, but I wish I wasn't so selfish because I would love to donate it for something like that, or the Angel Gown thing I talked about in my post.
@mmb4532 Thank you!! I've been told by a lot of people that they've never seen a bride enjoy themselves as much as I did on my wedding day. It was such an amazing day!
@pearlvirus I love your non-traditional look, what a beautiful color!
I love everyone's gowns, they're all gorgeous!!! If anyone isn't as selfish as I am, and looking for something to "do" with their gown, I found this website with a quick google search.

I actually got the belt from a seller on Etsy for $30 which was waaaaaaaay more reasonable than the ones available at the bridal shop.
I really like what you chose though! That drop waist is beeeeautiful!
Mine is preserved in a box thanks to one of our groomsmen. His dad owns a dry cleaner and that was his gift to me. I am holding on to it for sentimental reasons. I don't know what I will end up doing with it. DH hates beads/anything with glitter and I like simple styles, so I have no regrets about my dress.
Mine is still filthy 4 years later stuffed in my closet. From my fitting. I made it sweetheart neck so the girls would pop. Man how I miss perky pre baby boobs.
My dress was a champagne colored Maggie Soterro. I adored it. I had sleeve caplets I wore for the ceremony and removed for the reception so I could dance.
@holli0801 That is really lovely!
@ivyvines6 I really love that idea! If only I wasn't the least crafty person on the face of the planet.
I am am not the sentimental, save it for my daughter, type. But I also can’t picture getting rid of it. Maybe my daughter will be sentimental and if it means something to her to have it or to use a piece of it on her big day, I wouldn’t want to mess that up.
I was married 8.5 years ago and I can’t believe the amount of life that DH and I have lived since that time. Thanks for the excuse to go back through or wedding album.

much nicer on the model. Great to dance with as it had all those tassels! It’s in a box waiting for who-knows-who now that I know I’m having my third, and last, boy! Daughter-in-law?! Granddaughter? Christening? No idea.
