1-How far along are you? How big is baby? 20 weeks HALFWAY THERE! Size of an endive.
2-How are you feeling? Feeling good! Loving the constant movement and feeling pretty normal otherwise.
3-What's going on this week? Any appointments? Nope - nothing again until December.
4-Rants/Raves/Questions: Any STMs used the Babyhome Dream Cot before? I got one second hand from a friend and plan to use it next to my bed for the first few weeks until she's ready to go to her crib. Curious what others have thought of it. I read on Amazon that others have found mold on the mattress but the one I got is like 4 years old and no mold here. I think it helps that I live in Arizona where the humidity is zero.
5-Name one trait you hope baby DOES get from you and one that you hope baby DOES get from your SO. I hope she gets my sense of direction and I hope she gets H's skin (I burn like crazy!).
1-How far along are you? How big is baby? 22 weeks. She's the size of a guinea pig!
2-How are you feeling? Just hungry! And huge-er every day. Yesterday I took a (not too hot) bath and noticed that I could SEE her kicking me. So wild!
3-What's going on this week? Any appointments? No appointments. The wind blew one of our windows open this morning which ended up knocking over a bunch of our hanging plants. Big bummer. In cleaning this up, I somehow became motivated to tackle the closets in our "extra" rooms (including the baby-room-to-be), which is turning into a whole Thing. They're like stuffed to the gills with both odds and ends from my grandparents (who lived here before we did) and our own stuff that we didn't deal with when we moved in.
4-Rants/Raves/Questions: My husband is super affectionate and sweet with me, but hasn't made any overtly sexual advances since I started to really show. I don't feel particularly "sexy" now that I look like this, so the combination of that + no sexual attention is making me feel kind of insecure. I have an aggressive libido sometimes, but also feel weird about having sex now that I can feel the baby moving so much! It's weird! I'm sure he has some feelings about it, too. It's ALSO my husband's first year teaching 2nd grade, so he's pretty consistently overwhelmed with work on the weekdays, and I work every other weekend, so it also feels like there's just not a lot of opportunity to get in the mood. The whole thing has been kind of a mindf*ck for me, and the best thing would probably just be to talk it through with him. Anyone also struggling with this?
5-Name one trait you hope baby DOES get from you and one that you hope baby DOES get from your SO. I REALLY want her to have my husband's beautiful curly hair. I think I secretly harbor fantasies that she'll be a little mini-me, personality-wise (dreamy, bookish, stubborn, woodsy), but really I'm just so excited and curious to see what kind of person she actually is.
@orbmaker I'm struggling with sexytime too. H and I talked about maybe having sex last night but Elise was super active and kicking and... I just... could NOT get in the mood to bang my husband when my daughter was all "Hi Mom!! How's it going??"
It's possible your H just doesn't want to put pressure on you to have sex if you don't want to. I'm all for open communication about this stuff. Seriously talk to him straight up about it tonight. He's the only one who can tell you what's goin' on in that brain of his.
@antoto Thanks for this! I'll bring it up tonight.
Intellectually, I know my baby doesn't "know" what's going on if/when we have sex (and the endorphins are good for her!), but the kicking and twirling makes her feel like more of a person/spectator to me, which is just kind of bizarre to process emotionally...
2-How are you feeling? Aches and pains for the most part. She loves my bladder. I so much as don't love my bladder. I'm also getting excited and anxious. I'm almost out of the second trimester already... 2 weeks to go! It's going so fast so it is a bit overwhelming!
3-What's going on this week? Any appointments? Appointment on Tuesday. Getting my flu shot and just a regular check up. Hopefully going to schedule the glucose testing so I can get that done and out of the way. I heard it sucks!
4-Rants/Raves/Questions: None at the moment.
5-Name one trait you hope baby DOES get from you and one that you hope baby DOES get from your SO. I hope she gets both of our athletic ability. My DH and I talked about this the other day. She may have a chance at being better at Crossfit than the both of us, lol! I can tell from the 3D ultrasound we did that she is going to have my huge lips. Dad is buying a shotgun he said. Haha! We also could see she's going to have her dad's strong legs so that's a plus! I have little chicken legs. Poor girl would be screwed if she had mine, lol!
So far today pretty good, yesterday for some reason I was having pain across my whole front but it felt like it was external, not internal, it was like my skin hurt, if that makes sense. I'm also starting to feel more movement which is very exciting because I've been jealous of you ladies that could feel it earlier! It was very strange watching during the a/s and seeing her punch her little fists and knees upwards and not being able to feel it.
3-What's going on this week? Any appointments?
Well I had my normal HB check and I have another HB check next Tuesday. I also made my glucose tolerance test appointment for the day after Thanksgiving. Probably not my smartest choice but I took the day off so I didn't want to have to miss more work while just sitting around during the test.
4-Rants/Raves/Questions: So this is a bit of a weird question-does anyone know anything about getting a C-section with an anterior placenta? I've had 2 previous un complicated vaginal deliveries (no forceps or vacuums used either) and there's absolutely no reason to think that I would need a C-section this time around but a friend of mine had a baby 6 weeks ago, she needed a C-section and had an anterior placenta and they had to give her general anesthesia because of the placenta placement so she was pretty out of it for a while and wasn't allowed or able to hold the baby initially. Like I said, there's no reason to think I would need a C-section but just in case, I'd like to go in armed with the knowledge of what could happen. 5-Name one trait you hope baby DOES get from you and one that you hope baby DOES get from your SO.
From me I hope she gets my easy going, calm under pressure personality (actually my love of learning would be awesome too), from DH I hope she gets his perfect eyesight and perfectly straight, no braces or retainers ever, teeth - those things are expensive! Haha
@LaurenAnn0405 I didn't have a csection but I did have an anterior placenta and I very vaguely remember them bringing something up about that. I'd ask your provider at your next visit!
1-How far along are you? How big is baby?
24 weeks, size of a GI Joe lol
2-How are you feeling?
Overall great! I've been having crazy heartburn some days and also so much more pressure/almost BH type feeling. I think it's so different because of having a posterior vs. anterior placenta (it's posterior this time).
3-What's going on this week? Any appointments?
I had my MFM second opinion on Wednesday and am sooo glad I requested a second opinion. I have a game plan for the rest of the pregnancy now and a doctor who is supportive and knowledgeable on my condition! I have a regular OB check up this upcoming week!
4-Rants/Raves/Questions: Nothing this week 5-Name one trait you hope baby DOES get from you a)nd one that you hope baby DOES get from your SO. Hm... I hope he gets DH's (and DS's) blue eyes and I hope he gets my patience!
I'm either the only Thursday ticker change or no one ever does it lol #intrudingagain
1-How far along are you? How big is baby? Exactly 20 weeks (Thursday of course) woohoo!
2-How are you feeling? Fine, except my 1yo gave me a cold...twice.
3-What's going on this week? Any appointments? A/S on Monday. #TeamGreen this time!
4-Rants/Raves/Questions: I don't think I have any. I'm boring this week.
5-Name one trait you hope baby DOES get from you and one that you hope baby DOES get from your SO. I hope baby gets my nose (it's a family nose) and idk, maybe optimism from DH.
@KASG my due date was technically moved to Thursday too. I started out on Friday and have never seen a Thursday one so I just stick to this one I say you are more than welcome
@KASG - I'm not even a March 18 mom anymore, my DD got changed to 2/23/18 but I stayed here anyways lol. I like them too much to leave. Welcome to Friday Ticker Change
Sorry I’m late guys—my sis and Aunt were in town and we took them to Disneyland over the weekend.
1-How far along are you? How big is baby? 24 weeks
2-How are you feeling? My hips are really prone to popping in and out of place which sucks so much. For all the walking we did at Disney, I had MH tape me up with KT tape. By Sunday I had both hips taped. My lower back, both sides of my spine and my right shoulder. That stuff is magic. I need to keep my hips taped at home though to help me get around better.
3-What's going on this week? Any appointments? Not until the week after Thanksgiving.
4-Rants/Raves/Questions: Has anyone tried the KT tape and the maternity belt? My lower back bothers me quite a bit this time but I don’t think the belt will help with my hips as much. The tape was much more supportive than I expected.
5-Name one trait you hope baby DOES get from you and one that you hope baby DOES get from your SO. I hope he gets MH’s eyesight and I hope he gets my interest in reading and books.
@antoto I haven’t even heard of that... is it like a cosleeper that attaches to the bed?
@orbmaker we haven’t had sex in over a week because we’ve had my family visiting and we’ve both been absolutely exhausted. We have had a lot of dry patches this pregnancy. With my first, we didn’t do much the first 17 weeks because I was so sick but the second trimester we got much more regular. And then by the third I didn’t want to be touched but we did try the whole “whatever gets the baby in, gets the baby out advice.” It didn’t work but I was so uncomfortable and desperate. Lol. I know MH tends to not feel like having sex when he’s got a lot going on at work and during my first pregnancy, with my body changing so much, I took that really personally. This time, I’m the biggest I’ve ever been in my life since I didn’t lose the baby weight from my first and I still get self conscious. But I know so many times I want to have sex with him and I’m just too tired. And he makes it a point now to do little things and say how much he loves my body and seeing me pregnant so that helps. I hope you guys had a good conversation about it this weekend.
@crossfitbabybump I don’t really like the glucose test because I feel awful afterwards. The taste isn’t the worst ((the barium you drink before an MRI is pretty bad)), but I don’t drink that much soda and have pretty much been limited this pregnancy to one a week or less, so I have a sugar hangover afterwards and just feel gross. I’m sure you’ll be fine.
@LaurenAnn0405 I did read about that when I was googling what an anterior placenta meant after my OB confirmed that I had one. I am pretty sure I had an anterior placenta with my first as well and still had a vaginal delivery. I think it’s only a problem if the placenta slips down in front and blocks the baby from exiting. Honestly after I read about the complications that were possible I stayed off of Google about the placenta placement. I wouldn’t worry too much about it and scare yourself. I️ don’t think there’s anything you can do to prepare yourself for an emergency c section or to change where your placenta is.
@scoogy19 my placenta is anterior and I’ve been having very similar feelings to what you are describing. I chalked it up to this being my second and to weighing more than I did with my last pregnancy. I’m so glad you had some reassurance from the MFM this past week.
@mdfarmchick - that's what I'm not looking forward to is the sugar hangover! I eat so healthy and stay away from high sugar and processed foods, so I know this is going to either send me through the roof or make me feel really crappy
@antoto I just googled it and see what you mean. I think it would be super useful. We used a mini crib in our bedroom for the first 8 months. It’s the same footprint as a pack n play with an actual mattress. Since I was breastfeeding and he was waking up multiple times a night, it helped to have him so close to us, but not in our bed. At 8 months we were finally able to move him into his own room.
@mdfarmchick we haven't talked about it yet! but I will initiate. My husband came down with a stomach bug and then gave it to me in the interim, so it wasn't the sexiest weekend...
@mdfarmchick maybe it's just a second (plus) pregnancy thing then?! Disneyland with the family sounds like a blast... we used to live in Florida and I miss the easy access to all those fun things, especially now that we have kids!
