I'm a mommy! Chase arrived on 01/11/09

Just a quick post here. Still in the hospital. I went into labor (on my own!) on Saturday night. I lost my mucus plug around 6pm, but wasn't going to get all excited because I knew that didn't mean anything was going to start right away. However, my water actually broke while I was asleep that same night, about 2am I got up to go to the bathroom and was completely soaked. I thought maybe it was just leftover remnants from the mucus plug, but as soon as I went back and got into bed and laid down it was just this gush of fluid so I knew it was my water breaking! Called the doc and told me to wait a few hours until contractions started getting stronger and closer together. We went to the hospital about 5am. Got checked in, was dilated to 3 cm and I got the epidural around 8:30am. Spent the WHOLE day in labor...dilation was very slow. By about 7pm, I was at 6cm. The next time they checked me was at 9:30pm and I was a full 10cm. I started pushing around 9:45pm and it took an hour and a half of very intense pushing. The doc kept saying he was very stubborn! But he finally arrived at 11:23pm, just a half hour short of being born on his actual due date!

He weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces. (So he wasn't actually over 8 pounds like the ultrasound said), and he was 20 inches long. And actually, my birthday is 07-13 so I thought it was kind of neat that his weight is the same as my birthdate. I will always remember that. ?

He is absolutely perfect! The cutest little nose and mouth, big chubby cheeks, real long and gorgeous eyelashes, dark blue eyes and dirty blond hair. We are in love! He has been great so far. He's very calm and alert, whenever he is awake he just looks right at you and looks all around the room. He has been doing great! We are going home tomorrow.

We have tons of pictures which I am currently uploaded onto my laptop so I will post some as soon as possible. Most likely I will put them onto our baby blog, which is https://www.staceygreggandbaby.com so check back there in about a hour or so and hopefully I will have a few there.
