I hope not to offend anyone with lack of real research or statstics, this is just personal experience. I was struggling with infertility for years before I came to terms with the fact that I would never have a child. I started a ketogenic diet to lose weight, and was on the diet for 9 months. Full time for maybe the first 4 or 5 months, then on and off. Between trying to conceive with my ex husband for 6 years, and not using prevention with my current boyfriend for 2 years I was in complete disbelief when I went for a physical for new insurance through work and found out that I am pregnant. I quickly researched whether I could continue to do a ketogenic diet while pregnant, and while it turned out that I couldn't, I found out that many people use this diet to help with fertility. After finding that information I posted about my pregnancy on the keto forums that I frequented, and received a ton of replies from people in the exact same situation who had not been able to conceive for years and years. In some cases it was just a few months on the diet and in other cases over a year. So I just wanted to spread the word, because of everything I tried when I was TTC this was one thing I never heard about. I am sooo glad that this is the diet I chose to do!
Re: Ketogenic Diet, something to maybe look into? (Child mentioned)
Started TTC in 2006, LOTS of trying, and trying, and 7 rounds of IVF with 13 embryos, 2 perfect little boys and 5 loses....
All finished with babies, started to make diet changes, Keto, to be MORE for my kids, lost 30 pounds, still going, and 3 months in, I had a natural cycle, and then ovulated... Hubs and I are going to see what happens now... Maybe a natural pregnancy? After everything we have been through? Or just a return to normal hormones? We shall see what the future holds!
