Toddlers sensing labor

anyone know if this is a real thing? I’ve been having irregular contractions since last night and lost some mucus plug and today my 17 month who is normally super independent is allllll over me won’t let me put him down and whiny and just acting weird!

Re: Toddlers sensing labor

  • Idk if the sensing labor is a thing, but my almost 3 year old definitely knows something is going on. The last two days she has been all about me. She’s been so clingy and whiny and has been very difficult to console.

  • This has been happening to me all day! My 18 month old has been all over me. He cries if I walk out of the room and drags me back to where he’s playing. He’s not very clingy normally but as I’ve been having irregular contractions all day this is how he’s been.
  • I'm not sure if it's a real thing, but my toddler and dog both started acting super clingy about 3 weeks prior to me having the baby. My dog also started the same thing about 3 weeks prior to my first. It was crazy,  both of them wanting to be carried around like babies... as if I wasn't tired enough. I tend to think they're reacting to some kind of scent change or a change in behavior.
  • Yes exactly it’s so strange! I told my mom and she thought I was crazy but I think he knows something is up!
  • My 4 yr old started clinging like a vine a couple of days ago. Every time I sit down he will wrap his arms around my middle and not let go. The almost 2 yr old is clingy, but he is also sick, so who knows with that one. The dog has also started getting extra nervous when DH isn't around, which is most of the day. We went out last night and left the boys with MIL at our house and apparently he whined and paced and panted and was generally an unhappy pooch. 10 days for me!

  • Our dogs, who I don't love, followed me close the weeks prior and my 6 year old was uppidy for most of the week that DS was born.
  • Can’t speak to Toddlers, but my dog is crazy clingy the whole week before I went into labor and was particularly Velcro-like the day I went into labor.
  • My three year old was a disaster the days leading up to this baby, he was clingy, regressed with potty training, and just plain naughty.

  • My dogs have been glued to me for the last week or so. I can’t leave a room or be anywhere without them attached to me. I still have a few weeks to go so I doubt it means impending labor. They can just sense changes
