Who else is in the same boat as me and really hasn't been exercising???
On Monday I am starting the Bikini Body Mommy 6 Week Program. It is pregnancy safe and she herself is 5 months pregnant in the videos.
I thought I would share it here in case anyone else is interested in taking on this challenge and perhaps checking in with one another!
All of the videos are on YouTube. But here's the link to the first day:

Re: Starting to Exercise
Thankfully, I teach water aerobics or else I would be doing nothing! I highly HIGHLY recommend moving in the water, even if it's just bouncing around.
I feel so free and I can't believe how much activity I've put in for so little pain and discomfort!
Sorry for starting a new thread if this is too similar. I just thought this might be helpful if there are others looking for something to start that maybe haven't been keeping up with an exercise regime already.
That being said though - just a word of caution. If you have never done a specific kind of exercise before (even yoga) just be really careful and slow - listen to your body and pay attention to your heart rate. Even if the instructor herself is pregnant she could have been doing this for years and could just be at a different level to begin with. EVERYONE should exercise moderately, but just don't feel pressured to push yourself to the point of a high heart rate your body isn't used to.
I actually have been wondering if there was anything new I could start this late in the game. I did Barre and walked regularly before getting pregnant then I was so tired and queasy I stopped barre and reduced walking greatly. I don't like the way I look or feel not working out so I was glad to see this suggestion. I am also thinking of trying a prenatal yoga workout that can be streamed through Amazon or similar if anyone can suggest anything.

I do go on walks semi-regularly, at least.
@barrelocarol I LOVE being in the water, especially when pregnant. Actual swimming gives me anxiety, but even just moving around in water that I can walk in feels amazing on my back.

But yeah they have you put one hand on your belly and one hand on your heart and focus on the connection to your baby and send them love. My instructor likes to talk about pregnancy/labor fears and how to move through that fear before or during the class. They have you do specific exercises made to mimic the discomfort of contractions (usually using muscle exhaustion, but in a safe way) and teach you how to breathe/move through it which makes me feel like I'm really preparing for labor in a physical way. Every pose and breath is cultivated specifically to help your prepare for baby and connect to baby, so I'm pretty much thinking of my baby the whole hour long class.
I worked really hard last summer until when I got pregnant and lost a significant percentage of weight for my size. Now I'm really anxious about not being active anymore. I would like to get back to doing *something* so it is easier to get back to where I want to be after baby gets here.

I should do some stretches to help leg pain, back and shoulder pain. I like the water aerobics idea too. Tks for motivation...writing it out makes me think about doing more.
I started the Bikini Body Mommy 6 week challenge on Monday. Today was day 3. I already feel so proud of myself for starting to move! It's also motivating me to watch my junk food intake a bit more. The exercise has been really good for me mentally and physically!!

Re: Prenatal Yoga
I'm a big fan. Especially if you can find a local class. I know it can be hard to find, though. I'm in a fairly decent-sized area and there aren't a ton of options for prenatal yoga classes. But, like @antoto said, it's good to be in a class (even if you've been doing yoga for a while) to have someone watching your form and helping you to remember that things aren't the same so they're reminding you about things like moving from certain positions to others more slowly than you're used to. Plus, even if I'm not exactly super chatty and making coffee dates with these other ladies it's still nice to be with other pregnant ladies in person. Before class we always go around and just share a little update about what's going on with us. So it's cool to hear about everyone at their various stages. I also do think it's helped my relationship with my body some. *TW* With the losses and IF plus body image stuff, I didn't have a great relationship with it. It helps to spend an hour a week being reminded to be kind to it and to love it and myself. And finally, who knows if it's just the fact that things have grown and shifted but I am feeling better than I was. Starting around week 10 I was getting posterior pelvic pain and quite a bit of neck pain that was radiating up into headaches. That's much better than it was. And, I missed a week and a half due to travel and the posterior pelvic pain was getting worse again.
As far as motivation in general goes, they say that just 20 minutes of walking a day is enough to benefit the baby. And while it's hard for me to insist on time to go work out when H is home (by the time I get home from work, he just wants to hang out with me and have dinner and stuff), when it's just a 20 minute walk for the kid, that I can insist on. So I think that's an easy place to start.
