Re: MoMs (Moms of multiples) weekly check in for the week of Nov. 4th

  • @momma6angels11 Thanks for starting this!

    1. How far along are you
    , and what is your due date? 21 w 3 d, EDD March 14th

    2. How many multiples are you expecting? 2

    3. Any recent appointment updates? no

    4. How are you feeling, symptoms, etc? I've been having some insomnia, I think just due to size and missing sleeping on my back. Me and snoogle are trying to work it out. :p

    5. Have you started a registry yet? Any registry items you're looking at, or any registry questions for the STM's? I actually finished mine. I listened to the "bedrest" episode of Twin Talks, and freaked out about ppl having to go on bedrest so early so I figure better get as much as possible ready just in case. I'm thrilled we were able to fit both our new carseats in the new car with room for one petite adult in the backseat. That was a big deal for us. Now I know when my mom visits to help out that we can all go out together in a 5 seat car.

    6. Do you know what team you are on? (Green, Pink, Blue, Multiple!) - Or are you still waiting to find out? Double blue!

    7.  Any current cravings or aversions? Not really. Just eating a lot, and trying to do so as healthy as possible without being too restrictive. I'm terrified of gestational diabetes: my mom has diabetes and my sister got GD in one of her pregnancies so between that and the multiples I'm pretty high risk. So going easy on sweet things...but I do have moments of weakness, because, you know, I'm human.

    8. Anything else you want to share this week, or questions, concerns, etc? My back is killlllling me already. Is this an issue for you guys? I have been getting a prenatal massage once a month, and I do think it helps, but I feel like it's just scratching the surface. Any tips?

QOTW: Who has been the most supportive of you during your pregnancy? Anybody that has been less than supportive
People have mostly been great. Got some annoying comments about one of our names. My sister doesn't really seem care about what's going on with me (but that's not new!). For the most part everyone has been very supportive.

  • 1. How far along are you, and what is your due date? 20 + 3, march 21

    2. How many multiples are you expecting? Two

    3. Any recent appointment updates? They were both cleared at the fetal echo which is great. I have a placental ultrasound in the next few weeks.

    4. How are you feeling, symptoms, etc
I am so tired I am barely functioning & @vflux33  I too am dealing with a very sore back. I try to alternate sitting, standing often but It’s just always sore it seems.
    5. Have you started a registry yet? Any registry items you're looking at, or any registry questions for the STM's? I have a private registry.... it’s how we track what we intend to buy. I’m really into this double playpen with two bassinets that looks super cool.

    6. Do you know what team you are on? (Green, Pink, Blue, Multiple!) - Or are you still waiting to find out? B/G

    7.  Any current cravings or aversions? Meh pretty much everything makes me feel extremely full and sick. It’s verrrry pleasant.

    8. Anything else you want to share this week, or questions, concerns, etc

QOTW: Who has been the most supportive of you during your pregnancy? Anybody that has been less than supportive ? Most people are supportive. Just a few people I work with who seem to know everything. They get obnoxious fairly often.
  • Thanks for starting this!

    1. How far along are you, and what is your due date?
21w + 1d, due date 3/16 but my doc will induce at 38 weeks. So planning on a late February baby!

    2. How many multiples are you expecting?
    2

    3. Any recent appointment updates
    Nope

    4. How are you feeling, symptoms, etc
Feeling pretty good aside from insomnia and occasional heartburn.

    5. Have you started a registry yet? Any registry items you're looking at, or any registry questions for the STM's?
I have a private Babylist registry to track what we need too. Also getting a side-by-side playpen!

    6. Do you know what team you are on? (Green, Pink, Blue, Multiple!) - Or are you still waiting to find out? B/G

    7.  Any current cravings or aversions?
Really shouldn't have bought so much Halloween candy because we have so much left over and I too am terrified of GD. But there are Reese's peanut butter cups within arms reach...

    8. Anything else you want to share this week, or questions, concerns, etc?

QOTW: Who has been the most supportive of you during your pregnancy? Anybody that has been less than supportive ?
Most everyone has been pretty supportive and excited. I have one work acquaintance who now feels the need to suggest names to me constantly. I really hope she doesn't suggest one I'm planning on or she might think she got to name my child!
  • 1. How far along are you, and what is your due date? 20 weeks today! EDD 3/25/18, but my doctor doesn't want me to go past 38 weeks

    2. How many multiples are you expecting? 2

    3. Any recent appointment updates? Not yet, A/S is Tuesday but we won't find out until our gender reveal party on the 12th.

    4. How are you feeling, symptoms, etc? Feeling fine mostly. Having some mild swelling of hands and feel for what seems like no good reason so I'm concerned about preeclampsia and GD. Other than that the normal stuff, back issues and round ligament pain.

    5. Have you started a registry yet? Any registry items you're looking at, or any registry questions for the STM's? We have started a couple, but won't finish until after we know what we are having. We are probably going to make more registries than we share just to get the free samples and coupons, lol

    6. Do you know what team you are on? (Green, Pink, Blue, Multiple!) - Or are you still waiting to find out? We will find out the 12th!

    7.  Any current cravings or aversions? The only aversions I have are anything super sweet or salsbury steak for some reason.

    8. Anything else you want to share this week, or questions, concerns, etc? preeclampsia is a big concern for me. The last time I checked my blood pressure it was a little high for me which bothers me. I have hypoglycemia normally which makes me super worried about GD, too.

QOTW: Who has been the most supportive of you during your pregnancy? Anybody that has been less than supportive
Most people have been supportive. I've had a couple of people tell my mom (not me) "Oh Amanda doesn't want twins" and "Does she have any idea what she's getting her self into? She can't handle twins". I want to point out to these people that we conceived our twins through IVF by transferring 2 embryos. If we didn't want twins we would have only transferred 1, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • @vflux33 you are welcome.  Has your doctor given you a cut off date for being pregnant? I think the time change just made my sleeping worse. What about you? My back has been getting to me for a few weeks. Im thinking about getting a belly support thing.
@syssa-o what about you do you have a cutoff for pregnancy? That is so great that they were both cleared from the echo. I go  tomorrow for the echo. I feel you on everything making you feel so full.
@mnddnvn you are welcome. Yeah I had to give it away to keep myself out of it. I definitely dont want to get gestational diabetes either!
@amanning2011 I hope you will update tuesday and again after your gender reveal. You can do it! Dont listen to those comments.. god gave all of us twins for a reason!

AFM I will post my update tomorrow.
  • Such a great idea. Thanks for posting!!

    1. How far along are you
, and what is your due date?
I am 22 weeks, due 3/8. Ob is going to induce at 39 weeks if I haven’t already gone into labor.

    2. How many multiples are you expecting?
    Twins!

    3. Any recent appointment updates
I have an appt today...one with the specialist next week.

    4. How are you feeling, symptoms, etc
Mostly pretty decent. A little sore but nothing unmanageable.

    5. Have you started a registry yet? Any registry items you're looking at, or any registry questions for the STM's?
We haven’t started a registry. Currently looking at which stores are going to offer us the most for registering. So far it’s babies and Amazon.

    6. Do you know what team you are on? (Green, Pink, Blue, Multiple!) - Or are you still waiting to find out?
We are expecting one boy and one girl. I was going to wait...but I’m impatient.

    7.  Any current cravings or aversions?
I seem to be craving thanksgiving dinner a lot these days. No real aversions anymore. First tri I couldn’t eat guacamole and that was a tragedy for me.

    8. Anything else you want to share this week, or questions, concerns, etc?
I had a really good one the other day...don’t remember what it was! Lol I’ll get back to you all if I remember it!

QOTW: Who has been the most supportive of you during your pregnancy? Anybody that has been less than supportive ?
There have been a lot of ppl offer their help when the babies get here. However, help in my experience with my son, usually entailed people randomly stopping by to hold my son...which sounds helpful (and when you need to pee and not hold your baby, it is). But it was really disruptive in us getting down a routine. Hopefully I am able to mitigate some of that. otherwise, I’m finding that a lot of ppl just don’t know what to say when you are having twins so they say silly and inappropriate things.... like “are they natural?” And “are you uncomfortable yet?” And in the beginning “better not announce it yet, anything could happen”...I just kind of roll my eyes and move on with my day, but it is nuts to me how we live in a world where your body could be doing some really amazing stuff and instead of acknowledging that, ppl are more inclined to use it as a free pass to say some of the most inappropriate things.
  • @awolfff you are welcome.  I am due the day after you, but my cut off will be 37wks at the moment. I hope to see an update from today. In the first trimester i could eat avocados, but had a hard time with meat.. if you remember you question come back and post it..
  • @momma6angels11 No she hasn't given me a cut off, which I find a little confusing. I think we're at the "let's see what comes up" phase. Are the belly support things safe? I've been thinking about those too. Let me know if you find a good one!

  • 1. How far along are you, and what is your due date?
        I am 22+4 today! EDD is 3/9
    2. How many multiples are you expecting?
         2
    3. Any recent appointment updates
MFM appointment today both babies had normal hearts with their echo and Baby A ( boy) was 1lb 2oz and Baby B (girl) was 1lb even!  My placenta moved even more!!
    4. How are you feeling, symptoms, etc
So tired and huge as well as uncomfortable mostly when sitting. Back pain is not cool.
    5. Have you started a registry yet? Any registry items you're looking at, or any registry questions for the STM's?
Yes! Looking at a crib divider and the table for 2 and 2 rock and plays as well as a triple stroller.
    6. Do you know what team you are on? (Green, Pink, Blue, Multiple!) - Or are you still waiting to find out? Boy and girl!

    7.  Any current cravings or aversions?
        Not really ..
    8. Anything else you want to share this week, or questions, concerns, etc?

    not today.
QOTW: Who has been the most supportive of you during your pregnancy? Anybody that has been less than supportive ?
my hubby has been the most supportive.
  • Question- what are you all doing for a rocking chair/glider? I read that with twins, getting a love seat instead is useful? So if you are tandem feeding, there is plenty of room or if you aren’t there is room enough for someone to sit on the couch and hold one while you feed the other....I saw some “chair and a half” gliders that were comfy, just kind of pricey but nice because they aren’t as big as loveseats.
  • 1. How far along are you, and what is your due date? 20w1d

    2. How many multiples are you expecting? 2

    3. Any recent appointment updates? Had my anatomy scan today.  I posted in the atypical results thread but will c&p here. They found a choroid cyst on Baby B's brain. My doctor did not seem too concerned because there were no other abnormalities, but still wants me to do a higher level u/s with an MFM. He said there was no particular rush to have it done. However, when I called to make that appointment and she asked if I had NIPT done and I told her no, because I was initially pregnant with triplets, she told me to come in first thing tomorrow morning.  The urgency has me a little concerned.

    4. How are you feeling, symptoms, etc? Finally feeling better.  Nausea is about 95% gone.  Now my only "symptom" is that I'm huge already and pretty uncomfortable by the end of the day

    5. Have you started a registry yet? Any registry items you're looking at, or any registry questions for the STM's?  Yeah, I've started one.  Kinda scary how much stuff you need with multiples :/

    6. Do you know what team you are on? (Green, Pink, Blue, Multiple!) - Or are you still waiting to find out?  Double Blue!

    7.  Any current cravings or aversions? Not really, except the only things that sounded good in the beginning of pregnancy now sound disgusting, but probably just because I ate those things over and over and now they remind me of the nausea.  I may never want another sausage mcmuffin or bagel again :(

    8. Anything else you want to share this week, or questions, concerns, etc?  Just what I posted in the appointment update.

QOTW: Who has been the most supportive of you during your pregnancy? Anybody that has been less than supportive ?
My husband is definitely the most supportive.  I feel like many other friends and family members are not being very supportive by saying things like "omg, do you know how much work twins is gonna be?" "You're never going to sleep again" etc. Yeah, I get it!  Ugh.
  • @momma6angels11 The aunt who has been saying that I don't want twins is a little biased. Her daughter (my cousin) had twins when she wasn't even sure she wanted kids to begin with and was very overwhelmed.

My ultrasound went really well. They were able to get every picture they needed except for good pictures of their kidneys and spines. We'll do another A/S in 4 weeks and see if we can get better pictures. I know they got really good pictures of what we are having, but we won't find out until Sunday at our reveal party :)

  • @Gingham I'm sorry to hear about your A/S results... any more news from yesterday?

@awolfff I found this but haven't gotten it yet: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I2HDG9A?colid=2VGYTUL443PNO&coliid=IIKDVKKGVW9CB&ref=br_ADD_TO_CART_title_link

Is anyone else starting to have problems with basic tasks ~22 weeks? Bending is becoming a serious issue. Even just over the computer. I'm typing this leaning back with 2 fingers, taking forever. Just ordered a support belt...
  • @vflux33 that’s the one we were looking at!! I like it. It’s hard for me to shop for furniture online...thank goodness for reviews! Also, 23 weeks today and the dumbest stuff is hard to do. Mostly sleeping, picking stuff up off the floor, sitting, laundry, shaving and pretty much everything aches. Yoga has been my saving grace with the aches, but I have a really difficult time admitting when I need to slow down and when I need help. Something that these twins are already teaching me!

@Gingham I’m so sorry and I hope all is well with you and your babies!
  • Has anyone else seen/is interested in this pnp? I’m on the fence but it looks pretty versatile

  • Update: We had the higher level u/s which was basically another anatomy scan, but more detailed and with more focus on the brains.  At first the doctor couldn't even find the cyst on baby b's brain, then found a speck of something that measured 0.25 cm. So basically nothing. She said she probably wouldn't have seen it if she wasn't looking for it and with NO other markers at all, that it's probably nothing!  So we're very relieved and I'm thankful that I was able to get into this doctor so quickly so that I only had to stress for a day, rather than a week or two!

@vflux33 , yes!  I can't believe that at only 20 weeks I am already this uncomfortable.  I feel decent most of the day but then towards the end of the work day, 3 or 4 pm, I am just DONE.  Then I come home and lay on the couch the rest of the night.  I had to have my 5 year old help take off my shoes and socks yesterday :(
  • @Gingham I'm so glad to hear things are looking better on the follow up scan! I know you've already been through so much this pregnancy and I hope the rest goes as smooth as can be hoped for.

@Gingham @awolfff Thanks, guys--I'm sorry you're feeling it too, but it makes me feel weirdly better to know you're both having similar experiences. I feel like most people probably wouldn't believe me? I wonder if part of the issue is we're all growing so fast that our bodies don't have as much time to adjust to every new difficulty the way we might in a normal pregnancy? Are either of you really short too? I'm 5 feet tall and partly convinced my height is compromising my ability to distribute the weight better.
  • @Gingham I'm so glad to hear your scan went well. What a relief! @gingham @vflux33 @awolfff In the past two days I've suddenly been really feeling very uncomfortable and wondering how I can do this (and get any bigger) for 3-4 more months! @vflux33 I'm 5'4" and pretty petite and I'm pretty sure I'm already as big as I was when I was 8 months pregnant with my daughter. @syssa-o I've been looking at that PNP but I think I might go with the Joovy Twin Nursery Center Accessory and the Room2 Playard because I like how the changing table folds over the top of it.
  • @vflux33 yes im 23 weeks and have been feeling the exact same way!! I was measuring 30wks at one day shy of 20 weeks and its only gonna get worse..yesterday i bent down to pick up my sons pacifier and i said i think the bending is over for me for awhile.. yes im only 5ft 1 so i really think that has alot to do with being so uncomfortable already.
@syssa-o ive looked at that but i think im just going to stick with a crib and put a divider in it for the beginning.
@Gingham that is so great that you got much better news with the new scan.
