Is my baby going to be big?

Hi lovely moms, I had an u/s yesterday and the doc told me that the baby weighed at 1 pound and 1 ounce. I was like wow! Doing the research at 20 weeks most said that the baby should be around 10 ounces. I didn't think to ask the doc if that was ok, looking at the baby was mesmerising. Did anyone else have a baby that weighed that much at 20 weeks if so, were they a  big baby at birth?

  • Probably not. DD was already 7.5ish pounds at maybe 36 weeks and I thought she'd be 9 or 10 pounds by birth but she was only 8.5

You just never know. You can have an estimate but it's not likely to be spot on.

    1) Who are you? I see you have never participated on The Bump before. Read the thread that says "READ THIS FIRST. " Please introduce yourself on the intro thread. This a community where we get to know each other so if you want to join us please take the necessary steps to do so.

    2) Like a PP said, this does not go here, it goes in the questions thread.
    This.

But also as others mentioned - ultrasounds are a poor judge of weight.  Don't pay it too much attention.  Unless you have gestational diabetes you shouldn't have a problem.
  • Thanks for your replies but, you guys are not as friendly and inviting as other threads used. Sorry for posting on Bump. Will not happen again.
  • The ultrasounds and Questions threads are incredibly inviting. Try using those.

  • Also, I don’t see anyone being uninviting towards you. They are taking the time and energy to answer your questions and redirect you to the threads this would be better suited in. That is pretty nice of them.
