Re: Fitness Friday Check-in 11/3
I was not as active as I would like to be this week. I went on long walks only once or twice this week. Over the weekend I was at parties so I made sure to dance even though I wasn’t drinking!
I plan on trying to get back on track this week. The meal plan didnt pan out this week and I’m going to try to get back on it for next week.
no modifications recently- same as I have been doing just walking. The weather is getting colder so I may start going back to the gym for the treadmill or elliptical soon even though I prefer walking outside.
I haven’t had anyone say anything strange to me yet this time around.

What did you do this past week for activities?
I am not gonna lie, I have not done so good the last 2 weeks for some reason. If I don't go before work at 4:30am, I am exhausted by the time I get home from work, so I have been slacking and only going 3 or so times a week instead of my usual 5-6. Also, my clean eating has been bad considering Halloween candy binging and buying "snacks" I wouldn't usually buy. I am bad that if I have it in my house, I will eat it. No will power!
What is your plan for this coming week?
I am planning to eat as clean as possible and get back into my usual workout routine, even if I have to drag myself to the gym after I get off work. I like setting short goals, so I'll set the goal to do this until we leave to go out of town for Thanksgiving. It helps me to work towards something and I won't feel as bad if I cheat a bit at Thanksgiving.
What challenges have you had and needed to modify?
I still haven't had to modify any workouts yet. I would say my biggest challenge is what I mentioned above... being too tired after work to go, or at least using that as an excuse.

I am still not showing so no comments like that yet. I was on the phone with my FIL the other night and told him I had just gotten home from the gym.. he said I hope you're just walking and stuff, not really working out. He was shocked to hear I was still doing everything I usually do. Haha

What did you do this past week for activities?
I was better than a couple weeks ago when I did nothing, but still not as good as I was pre-pregnancy. I took pure barre classes 3X and taught class 3X. (Teaching doesn't really count as much in my book because I'm mostly just walking around the room correcting form and whatnot, not actually doing the workout.)
What is your plan for this coming week?
I want to try to take class at least 4X next week, but we'll see. Trying to unpack and organize a house is really putting a damper on my workouts!
What challenges have you had and needed to modify?
My doctor doesn't want me doing anything lying on back, so I've been modifying most of my ab work to be a slightly propped up. I'm also doing planks and push-ups on my knees so I can really focus on keeping my navel pulled toward my spine so I don't worsen any abdominal separation.
GTKY: Strangest thing someone has said to you about working out while pregnant:
I don't know that I've gotten anything really strange, but some of my clients have figured out I'm pregnant from my modifications (and I've been wearing socks that say "Baby on Board" in bright yellow letters... you'd be surprised how few people have actually noticed!), and I'm already sick of their comments. A lot of "you don't even look pregnant," "are you sure?" "when I was that far along I had a huge bump." I get it. I'm not showing. I'm actually pretty frustrated by this, and you commenting on me not having a bump is only making my insecurities and anxieties worse. I think they think they're complimenting me, but it actually sucks. I'm probably being overly sensitive, but I guess I just don't think it's okay to comment on a woman's size while pregnant. There is no perfect size everyone is supposed to be. Whether you think someone is too big or too small, just shut your trap and say congratulations. Sorry, rant over. Happy Friday, everyone!

What did you do this past week for activities?
I was sick over the weekend and really busy at work this week so I took less classes. Just 2 - pilates & zumba.
What is your plan for this coming week?
Now that I don't have a cold, back to the full schedule :-) Pound, pilates, zumba & piloxing barre
What challenges have you had and needed to modify?
Some of the classes involve lying on your stomach so that's obviously a no go. Also a fair amount of twisting & ab work that just doesn't feel good any more. Plus my lower back/left glute/hip hurt from the pregnancy so I'm trying to be careful with that. The instructors are great with modifications though, so that's been great.
GTKY: Strangest thing someone has said to you about working out while pregnant:
Luckily, nothing... The place I go frequently has a pregnant woman or two taking classes at any time period so it's not unusual for them, and my family hasn't said anything either.
Pregnant with #2:
What did you do this past week for activities? I had the stomach flu over the weekend, so I eased into working out on Tuesday with a light 30 minutes on our elliptical. I felt a lot better Wednesday through today, so I was able to jump back into an upper body day, leg day, and then cardio this morning.
What is your plan for this coming week? My goal is to increase my cardio time from 30 to 45 minutes now that I'm feeling better again. I am usually starving on a cardio or a leg day, so I'll adjust my intake as needed, but I really like how it feels at the end of pregnancy when I've kept up longer cardio sessions as long as it feels right. I only do it 2-3x a week, so I'm hoping it feels good!
What challenges have you had and needed to modify? I'm not running like I was. I've done a couple 5k runs over the last month, but nothing much like I was doing. My knee is a pain, and I'm not willing to push it and further damage it before baby arrives. The idea of a knee surgery too soon after giving birth sounds like the worst idea in the world. My hope is to stay strong enough that I can do light cardio after baby arrives, get back to decent cardio shape, and then set up my scope (if it doesn't get worse). Instead, I've been doing intervals on the arc trainer and on our elliptical. It feels really good to shift heart rate within a moderate range, and I get a pretty good sweat!
GTKY: Strangest thing someone has said to you about working out while pregnant: "You better stop walkin' around breathing like that or you're gonna have that baby!" <-- what does that even mean? A man at the gym said it to me when I was in my final weeks of pregnancy with my son. I was like, no sir, I will not have this baby as a result of how I'm breathing. But really, thanks for your concern!
