Re: Thursday Ticker Change 11/2
2) How are you feeling? Ugh, I'm starting to feel uncomfortable all the time. Baby girl is constantly up in the right side of my ribs, and it's not pleasant. On top of it, I'm exhausted all the time. Dragging myself into work every day is a real struggle. I'm thinking of starting my maternity leave early- maybe around 36 or 37 weeks- instead of working up until labor. On the bright side, no swelling or restless legs yet!
3) What's up this week? Nothing big- slow week. Meeting with my neighbor (a professional photographer) tonight to discuss the newborn shoot! Also, I have another pediatrician consultation appt. tomorrow.
4) Anything you need to catch up on? Nope! Feeling pretty prepared.
5) Rants/Raves/Questions? Nope
6) GTKY: Now that Halloween is over, when do you typically decorate for your holidays? Listen to music? Shop? Typically, I'll break out the Christmas decorations right after Thanksgiving. This year, I'm not hosting Thanksgiving and I want to err on the side of caution in case baby girl comes early, so I'll probably decorate the weekend before Thanksgiving. I start listening to Christmas music and watching Christmas movies while decorating. I need to start shopping ASAP. 99% of my shopping is online, so I can knock it out fairly quickly. I hate wrapping, so I'm definitely going to ask DH to wrap everything this year!
2) How are you feeling? Tired and generally a bit uncomfortable. I'm not sleeping well. I constantly feel the need to pee. And, in addition to the feet/ankles swelling a bit, my hands/knuckles are a little swollen and it feels like I have arthritis in my knuckles. I have had to stop wearing my rings. @hellothere47 you are so lucky you don't have any swelling!
3) What's up this week? Waiting to hear about our new windows (see rant below). I also have a growth ultrasound scheduled for 11/7. I think I'm measuring ahead, but I want to see if we can get an approximate size of baby girl. Although I've been told growth ultrasounds are not super reliable.
4) Anything you need to catch up on? Um, everything... I think I am going to try and pack my hospital bag this weekend, make a final baby to-do list, finalize the decor plans for the nursery, organize/make a list of freezer meals I want to make over the next couple weeks, read up on labor, try and prepare a birth plan (to the extent I think I need one), and anything else that pops into my head.
5) Rants/Raves/Questions? So we are putting in new windows on our second floor, including the nursery. They're ordered, but haven't arrived yet. I know it's only a one day installation job, but I am getting anxious over having everything put together. I don't want to finalize the nursery until the windows are in. It's so frustrating.
6) GTKY: Now that Halloween is over, when do you typically decorate for your holidays? Listen to music? Shop? We typically won't decorate for Christmas until Thanksgiving is over, but this year I think we'll put some up right before Thanksgiving in case I go early. From Thanksgiving on I listen to a ton of Christmas music, but I will say that Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday so I don't want to bypass it with early Christmas planning. I also let Christmas movies (particularly ABC Freeform/Family) play freely when I'm home.
1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
34 weeks, butternut squash
2) How are you feeling?
I am having major interior pelvic pain. To the point that I have been limping around my office the last few days. I resorted to starting today with Tylenol and that helped a bit. Also the ability to sleep past 5 am is a thing of the past.
3) What's up this week?
We had an appointment with the MFM and in great news my placenta has finally shifted and we can have a vaginal birth. I am a major planner so in some was I was feeling good to know that I would have our little man on such and such day, but as feeling good about not having to have a major surgery.
We have our hospital tour on Friday night and a prenatal course on Saturday.
4) Anything you need to catch up on?
We need to finish up the nursery, pack our hospital bags. We are also still on the fence about who we want to take photos at the hospital and Everetts newborn session. So that needs to be ironed out.
5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
I am feeing so ready to be done and have the little guy there, but there are still six more weeks... we had the maybe we are one and done on the kid front. This pregnancy was very easy and then we hit 30 weeks and it still been a real struggle.
6) GTKY: Now that Halloween is over, when do you typically decorate for your holidays? Listen to music? Shop?
We have never been ones to decorate for Thanksgiving. We are usually big into Christmas and start putting everything up the weekend after Thanksgiving. But this year we have decide to just not do anything and just focus on bringing our new addition home. Also the fact that our tree spot is where we have placed the packnplay. We have finished our shopping though, which is very early for us.
1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
35 weeks - pineapple, honeydew, a carton of eggs!
2) How are you feeling?
Better than last week. Getting crampy but ob said that's my body getting ready. Baby feels so big! My nose is super stuffy making it hard to breathe (especially when sleeping) and half the time when I blow it it's so bloody, but otherwise my energy is back and that is great because it has been a crazy busy week!
3) What's up this week?
We had a good ob check-up Tuesday (she thinks baby is head down, whoo!), first part of childbirth education last night, yoga tonight, and baby Basics class tomorrow. I think I could wing it with a newborn and be fine, but I don't want to be a new mom and baby educator to H at the same time so I hope he (we!) gets a lot out of it.
4) Anything you need to catch up on?
Literally everything. I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed if I think about it too much. The house is so fucked right now. The biggest things are thank-you notes and finishing purging the house this weekend. And oh yeah, our washer went kaput so we need to get a new one.
5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
We bought a new car Tuesday! I'm still driving my old car to work because the garage can be brutal with dings and scrapes, but it's been fun coming home and taking the new car out to run errands and stuff lol.
6) GTKY: Now that Halloween is over, when do you typically decorate for your holidays? Listen to music? Shop? Spoiler cause sorry I'm verbose on this topic lol
Because baby is "term" on 11/16 and we have no idea if s/he could conceivably come around or after that (believe me, I'm not counting on it, just trying to prepare for it!), this year I'm decorating in mid-November, going to start shopping for Christmas gifts, and hope to have things wrapped by Thanksgiving. And since my favorite tradition is to wrap while watching all of my favorite Christmas movies and TV specials, those will come out early as well. We're not driving to do Thanksgiving with family for the first time ever, so it's going to be weird and pretty lowkey.
It also makes sense because I'm just going to be straight-up slower this year and will need to budget more time for my usual Christmas activities. I'm really excited though! I kick off Christmas music by putting on my favorite playlist and making our favorite cookies. Then we eat those while putting up the tree. The only difference is this year I'll do it earlier.
