What's your EDD? How big is baby?
our EDD is now June 1. It was the 4th. Baby is the size of a southern pecan or a cherry

How are you feeling? Any specific cravings/aversions lately?
    •
I feel better then I have felt. I’ve actually left the couch this week. I think this is around the time I turned the corner when I was pregnant with our son. All I want to eat are cheese bagels.

    Any appointments this week/coming up?
our next appointment is the 17th

    Rants/Raves?
I’m not sure I have either right now

    Questions?
    uhmmmm none right now

GTKY: are you planning/conceptually planning any baby-related announcements or photo shoots or scrap books, etc? (E.g., maternity photoshoot, sex reveal, social media announcement, photo progression, pregnancy journal, etc.)
we will do family pictures with a few maternity shots most likely, not sure about a sex reveal, we did our social media announcement and I think that’s about it.

  • What's your EDD? How big is baby? June 2nd, tater tot

How are you feeling? Any specific cravings/aversions lately? I feel fine other than this lingering flu. No specific cravings or aversions lately. Sometimes in the moment random things sound really good or really bad, but that happens to me non-pregnant, too.

Any appointments this week/coming up? Nope, NT scan week of Thanksgiving. Nada until then.

Rants/Raves? I have a dinner with friends tonight, and I'm excited to see the people but not excited for the restaurant (tapas; extremely limited vegetarian options, and obv I can't drink, which they all know).

Questions? S+TMs, when did you guys start buying baby stuff (like strollers, etc.)? I doubt we'll have a shower.

GTKY: are you planning/conceptually planning any baby-related announcements or photo shoots or scrap books, etc? (E.g., maternity photoshoot, sex reveal, social media announcement, photo progression, pregnancy journal, etc.) I'm getting my Mat21 blood draw on Monday, so we should have the results by Nov 20. I think I'm going to try my very best not to look at them, have a proxy (probably one of our friends or DH's mom) look at the results, and then hand us the proper colored "smoke bomb" so we can find out on camera. Logistics TBD. I also want to do a maternity shoot at some point when I have an actual bump with a professional photographer. Will probably include our dog and maybe my mom and my aunt? Could be fun to have some generational photos thrown in. IDK. Still deciding.
  • What's your EDD? How big is baby?
June 7th; size of a cherry!

How are you feeling? Any specific cravings/aversions lately?
I seem to crave certain things that I imagine smelling. Yesterday that was Christmas ham with mustard!

    Any appointments this week/coming up?
None this week. A second US next week with my second opinion OB/GYN office. I'm eager to see what's going on as this is the furthest I've made it. Holding my breath, hoping that everything is still on track.

    Rants/Raves?
Can I rant about my sleep orgasms?! Ugh. Sounds nice, but with PGAL brain it sure isn't.

    Questions?
I'm kind of curious about the genetic testing. I have two offered to me, but they sound like they cover a lot of the same things, so I'm not quite sure which ones I should plan on doing.

GTKY: are you planning/conceptually planning any baby-related announcements or photo shoots or scrap books, etc? (E.g., maternity photoshoot, sex reveal, social media announcement, photo progression, pregnancy journal, etc.)
Not really. I have yet to tell my in-laws. Wasn't received as well as I had hoped when I announced my first pregnancy (that ended in loss) due to commitments to caring for my SIL's offspring (i.e. MIL was upset that she wouldn't be around to help raise the baby). Where's the *rolling eyes* emoji when you need one? Just trying to make it through the first trimester before deciding what to do. We've thought about making it a Christmas announcement, but we'll have to see.

  • @boymama29 Omg, I had to fight the urge to buy a pecan pie I saw yesterday at the grocery store. Want. So. Badly.

@doxiemoxie212 Funny that you just posted about one of the genetic tests. I just posted about it under the "Questions" and realize that I failed to actually make it a question. Whoops. I'm confused between the MaternaT21 and the quad. It says they both test for Down's and neural tube defects/spina bifida. It says the quad will be offered if the MaternaT21 is turned down - but what's the difference?
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @silvergreen I don't really know what the quad is, but based on the name I'd guess it tests for 4 things only (maybe downs, cystic fibrosis, muscular atrophy and... fragile x?), whereas Mat21 tests for a lot more things, and it also tells you the sex of the baby. Mat21 is generally not covered by insurance if you're under 35, but my insurance is based out of Illinois, so mine is covered anyway (which is great, because it's $500 without insurance). Mat21 (Harmony, Panorama, etc., are all versions of it) is basically more comprehensive, and sort of replaces the NT scan, etc., but I'm doing the NT scan anyway because I want to see the Mogwai again :)
  • @doxiemoxie212 we bought our stroller last time when I was probably 10 weeks. It was a killer deal so we just went for it! I say if you know what you want/ are a great deal go for it!
  • @boymama29 I want to test drive strollers, but DH says absolutely not until I have a bump because he thinks it seems weird lol (eye roll). I think I want the 2018 version of the Uppababy so it's not like I can buy it now anyway, but IDK, I'm antsy to go look at baby stuff, but I want DH to come with me lol.
  • @doxiemoxie212 haha I think it’s a guy thing because my husband was the exact same way!! I dragged him to babies r us one time and he finally got into it picking out clothes and stuff. i also want the new uppa and I wish I would’ve gotten it with my first!
  • @boymama29 he's actually really excited to pick stuff out (we went to a couples baby shower a while ago, and he whispered to me during the present opening, "I would be so mad if people gave us onesies because I want to pick out all the onesies myself!!"), he just wants to wait a really long time. I think partially it's because in Jewish tradition it's bad luck to buy anything before the baby is born, but he knows I'd never stand for that lack of planning, so he's compromising with a bump, which he doesn't think I'll have until 2018.
  • @doxiemoxie212 just stick your stomach out real far one day  ;);)
  • 1. June 5 - baby is the size of a cherry

    2. Been feeling pretty good, which makes my PGAL brain go wild. I feel worse in the evening it seems, when the reflux starts to kick in. I've been craving a lot of plain foods like fruit, veggies, begels.

    3. Next appt on nov 22!

    4. Been waking up every morning with the worst sore throat, that eventually goes away as the day goes on.

    5. None

    6. We will do our own simple announcement/gender reveal photos for social media but my friend (professional photographer) is going to take some family/maternity pictures probably around 30 weeks, and then newborn photos once baby arrives.
  • What's your EDD? How big is baby?
    may 31st little lego man

How are you feeling? Any specific cravings/aversions lately?
I feel ok. my appetite miiiiight be trying to come back. the thought of trying to start making dinners again next week doesn't make me cringe. I still have some lingering blah tastes after eating. and I don't feel 100% in the evenings.

    Any appointments this week/coming up?
one more ultrasound next thurs then to the lab for the materniT21. I'm not doing the nt scan/1st tri ultrasound since I'm doing m21 so this will probably be (if all goes well) the last time we see babe for a couple months.

    Rants/Raves?
I got to make a big work decision this week. I don't like those. I need someone to make adult decisions for me.

    Questions? nope

GTKY: are you planning/conceptually planning any baby-related announcements or photo shoots or scrap books, etc? (E.g., maternity photoshoot, sex reveal, social media announcement, photo progression, pregnancy journal, etc.)
we're doing a mini session for family christmas pics on nov 19th. If we can get a nice ultrasound pic next week, I might ask them to use one of the shots we get and have DS holding it up.... or something. If we know the gender by then, even better. (but not sure we will cause we asked the counselor to mail us the gender for DS to open and read to us.... which we'll get a video of). If the pic of DS comes out good, we'll use it to announce on social media for friends. same with the video.
photo progression: I did weekly pics with DS. so I'm sure we'll start those in a week or two. I started his at like 5 weeks... but I had no belly to begin with. Now I do so I didn't want to confuse the usual fat belly with a baby belly lol

  • @doxiemoxie212 I want to say if you're sure you're not having a shower, start anytime you feel comfortable. spreading it out might be nice. this might be alittle tip though... one thing I'd check into is different store registry policies. we used babies r us and at some point at the end of the pregnancy (can't remember if it just had to be after we said our shower was or what), but they give you a discount to 'finish' out your registry. so things that didn't get bought, we went in and got money off. if any place does this, even if you're not having a shower, pretend lol

@silvergreen I *thiiiiink* the quad might be the blood work you do with the nt scan. if it is, I don't think its as accurate. for example, I only had that with my son. and had a high chance of chromosome problems with him. I turned down amnio and the m21 and just redid the bloodwork at 16wks. my chances got a tiny bit better, but not much. turns out our son has no issues. so I think tests like m21 are just much more accurate.

  • @silvergreen I wanted to weigh in on the genetic testing- I'm also not sure about what exactly quad testing is (is that a brand name?)  I am getting InformaSeq.  It was covered when I called my insurance company- but I'm 35. I would call your insurance company and see if it is covered.  Next week talk to your second option doctor about all the different options- they should know all the differences.

@doxiemoxie212 with DD it was our 3rd pregnancy and PGAL brain would not let me get attached enough to really look for gear, ect.  I did not want a baby shower cause PGAL brain works a lot like the Jewish tradition of not wanting to jinx anything.  After the 20 week anatomy scan I ran out of excuses-  DD was developing normally and we knew the sex.  We registered after my appointment and I allowed DH to announce on social media (but I wouldn't let him tag me).  If you are waiting for a bump (which isn't that far away- but will be covered by winter bulky clothes... so stick it out far haha) I would take this time to research everything online.  Registering gets overwhelming- there are so many choices for EVERYTHING.  Lucie's List is a great starting point.  And visit stores after you have it narrowed down to a few options for each product.  You may also want to keep an eye out for Black Friday deals- it's a few weeks away but strollers/ car seats/ swings/ high chairs/ ect are expensive so any sales will signal a time to buy.    Also, make a registry even if you don't plan on having a shower.  Amazon's registry gift was my favorite over Babies R Us.

@bkrahn you might want to try sleeping with a humidifier- avoid getting sick at all cost- pregnancy colds are the worst.

What's your EDD? How big is baby?
    June 5th- Cherry

How are you feeling? Any specific cravings/aversions lately?
IDK- nausea comes and goes.  Tuesday night was rough for me and PGAL brain has taken over. Hoping my decreased symptoms aren't a sign of anything bad.  Would love to feel crappy all day again.

    Any appointments this week/coming up?
I scheduled my NT scan and InformaSeq test for 11/22.

GTKY: are you planning/conceptually planning any baby-related announcements or photo shoots or scrap books, etc? (E.g., maternity photoshoot, sex reveal, social media announcement, photo progression, pregnancy journal, etc.)
Undecided.  DH mentioned a gender reveal.  We will probably find out our results the week after Thanksgiving, so I guess I better figure out soon.  I might do a social media announcement around DD getting a little brother/sister as part of her First Christmas list.  I feel like I'm just not going to be comfortable making any type of announcement again this time too.

  • @jsl82 oh I’ve already downloaded the lucie list spreadsheet, researched every option on it, watched approx 30 YouTube videos for each option, and am 99% sure what I want for each category of thing we need, but I just want to go in person to double check lol and basically see if DH agrees with my picks lol. I’m a little bit of an over planner.

@catlady1215 I’m creating hidden registries for that exact reason! I don’t think I’ll ever unhide them tho.
  • @catlady1215 YES I forgot about the completion discount at BRU- we also got endless earnings where they give you 10% back for all purchases made off your registry (10% off the first $300 and 5% after that).  We made out so well with the discounts I'm not surprised Toys R Us had to file for bankruptcy.  I'm also going to create registries on Amazon and BRU for this one for the completions discounts again.

I'm not feeling as excited about this pregnancy and it makes me sad. Maybe when I get to see the little guy, I'll get a flood of emotions.

  • @jsl82 on my shopping list for today! I suspect it might just be normal pg congestion, I had it so bad when I was pg with DD, but anything to help!
  • @catlady1215
    @jsl82

Thanks for chiming in! I definitely will approach them about it. Seems like the consensus is that the Mat21 is the most accurate, so that's what I'm leaning towards. I called the company that does it today to see what the estimate would be, and they said $700 out of pocket - yikes! They also said I had $2200 left to reach my deductible, but that can't be right since I already hit it with my D&C in April. DH said he'll call our insurance company, so just waiting on him to do that.

  • @silvergreen when does your insurance restart? Some restart Nov 1...
  • @doxiemoxie212 Ugh, say it isn't so... I hope that's not the case. DH is the primary cardholder, so he'll have to check. :/

  • @silvergreen DH is our primary for ours too. What an effing pain. I just want him to give me his HR's contact information so I can do it myself. He's so slow and forgetful! Like, how are you a big shot lawyer, dude?? lol

Much better overall. Queasy belly is starting to get under control because I'm eating more frequently but small snack meals. I literally can't stand cheese, bread, pickles, mustard and potatoes other than mashed... And eggs are starting to smell weird to me. Ugh. I am all about fruit, yogurt, peanut butter and crackers. Hahahahah

I did these for our announcement last weekend on FB. I personally messaged my family and close friends before public announcement. I usually do an album of weekly Bump photos. But ha e been remiss about taking them so far.. Mostly because there's nothing but bloat. And I keep a journal.

Super nauseous. Hasn't gotten better. Tempted to call me doctor by next week if it hasn't subsided. Craving carbs and chocolate. Two things I adamantly avoided before pg.

    Any appointments this week/coming up?

Next appointment is two days before thanksgiving.

    Rants/Raves?

My husbands being mean. Not wanting to help. Taking everything personal. Complaining that he's also tired and he needs breaks too. Ugh.

I'm just going to post first and then read/respond. I've been at work all day so I'm a little behind (not allowed to have my phone on me at work).

What's your EDD? How big is baby?
6/7, tater tot! ETA-didn't read the question..

How are you feeling? Any specific cravings/aversions lately? Still dealing with nausea. Threw up twice at work today, once in the sink because the bathroom was occupied. Yay? My ob switched me to zofran, so hopefully that does the trick. I've officially lost 10 lbs since my BFP.

Any appointments this week/coming up? Still nothing until the 20th. So far away.

Rants/Raves? Despite feeling like garbage, I actually had an amazing day at work today! I got to progress with a lot of animals and worked with the hyenas for the first time! So cool!! And then when I got home, DH had deep cleaned the kitchen and both bathrooms! It's nice knowing that good days can still exist even when I'm throwing up and feeling horrible physically. :)

    Questions? not this week.

GTKY: are you planning/conceptually planning any baby-related announcements or photo shoots or scrap books, etc? (E.g., maternity photoshoot, sex reveal, social media announcement, photo progression, pregnancy journal, etc.)  I haven't really jumped into the planning yet, but we were thinking something beach related for the social media announcement since we live in San Diego. Maybe our flip flops in the sand and then a pair of baby flip flops? idk, I saw some cute versions of that on pinterest.

  • @silvergreen yea if you’re under 35 they won’t cover it unless your insurance is based out of Illinois. Mine is.
  • @dinodna3 I am the exact same way with cheese! It's the only thing I want/can keep down. DH would be the happiest man in the world if I was craving tacos though, he could eat tacos for every meal forever!  :D

@abteamb I talked to my dr about the nausea and the medicine she gave me helps a lot. It's still not great, but at least I can do my job.

Also the conversation about getting the Mat21 definitely makes me want to at least check to see if insurance will cover it. I have pretty good insurance, so it's worth a shot. Only 27 though so it might be a stretch..
