Wednesday Ticker Change | November 1st

1. How far along are you? How big is baby? 23 weeks, grapefruit

2. How are you feeling/ current symptoms? I’ve been feeling great! We spent Sunday and Monday cleaning our house getting it ready to put on the market so that wore me out. Probably over did it but I’m good now! I’ve had a headache since yesterday morning...I’m hoping it passes soon  :(

3. Any appointments upcoming? Next Wednesday will be my 24 week check

4. Rants/ Raves/ Questions? Don’t really have any today haha

5. What are you procrastinating the most on your to-do list (before baby or otherwise)?  All of it :p this is our second baby and it’s the same gender...we haven’t done anything! The baby will sleep in the bassinet in our room at first so besides buying diapers and a car seat...we haven’t done anything for baby! At least she has a name! <3

6. What did you do for Halloween yesterday? Dressing the bump? We went to our friends neighborhood which always has a TON of people! It’s a lot of fun! My DD went dressed as Minnie Mouse and my DH dressed as Mickey! I didn’t dress up! Lol

23 weeks, grapefruit; why do I feel like that seems smaller than a coconut last week?

    2. How are you feeling/ current symptoms?

Really great. I'm enjoying the honeymoon phase of pg. I know it'll be a different story in a few weeks here.

    3. Any appointments upcoming?

Not for me. DD has a follow-up appt with her ENT specialist to check her ear tubes that were put in 6 months ago. I'm not expecting any issues because a month ago at her 18 month check-up they were still in position.

    4. Rants/ Raves/ Questions?

We went to tour a daycare facility on Saturday. It's one for employees only where DH works and has a really good reputation. I'm going to be going to the doctor just about every week for the rests of the pg, between my cardiologist/MFM specialist/OB. So we need a reliable place for DD to go once a week during my appts. No one has ever watched her outside of DH and myself except for immediate family, and even though this place seems great I'm still a wreck about it.

    5. What are you procrastinating the most on your to-do list (before baby or otherwise)?

Like @RachelR17 we're having the same gender for baby #2. And DD is only 19 months old so all the baby stuff is still really fresh. We're not procrastinating, we're just taking care of DD's big girl room for Christmas. So there's not really anything to do right now. Except pick a name... which which I'm starting to think we might end up doing the day she's born at this rate lol.

    6. What did you do for Halloween yesterday? Dressing the bump?

I took DD to a Halloween storytime at our local library in the morning. In the afternoon we made pumpkin spice play dough and made play dough pumpkins. Then DH and I took her Trick or Treating for the first time. She's only 19 months old, so we were mostly just walking around to look at decorations, but a few people were outside their houses with candy and gave her a few pieces. Which I ate haha. I did not dress up my bump, just wore a genertic huge Halloween T-shirt. I think other people look cute pg, but I hate the way I look pg so mostly just try to avoid calling attention to it and wear baggy clothes.

@precious88 I didn’t realize your daughter was 19 months! My daughter will be 21 months tomorrow!! She was born 2/2/16!!
  • 1. How far along are you? How big is baby? 26 weeks

    2. How are you feeling/ current symptoms? just tired. always tired lol.

    3. Any appointments upcoming? Friday I have my normal check up and one hour glucose.

    4. Rants/ Raves/ Questions? Wondering what classes everyone is taking? I am just starting to look now and am in a bit of a panic as they are all offered like once a month or less and there are not too many months left!

    5. What are you procrastinating the most on your to-do list (before baby or otherwise)?  oh everything. Need to clean out some closets and drawers and purge a lot to make room for baby stuff and we are both behind. I am so overwhelmed with what needs to get done. Finally doing a hospital tour next week, and not meeting with our doulas until after Thanksgiving. I am trying not to stress about it but it feels like we are very unprepared.

    6. What did you do for Halloween yesterday? Dressing the bump? I didn't have a reason to dress up, but DH and I walked around our neighborhood for bit last night, which was a very adorable zoo. Ate Halloween candy and watched scary movies.

  • @MrsJ2410 I know I might be the odd one here but for my first I didn’t take any classes...lol my daughter is 20 months now and we did alright  :)
  • 1. How far along are you? How big is baby?

25 weeks, size of a cauliflower

    2. How are you feeling/ current symptoms?

Not my best week so far.  Super hormonal out of nowhere and everything is making me want to cry.  Very fatigued and basically just want to sleep all.  day.  long.  Hungry all the time but I eat 4 bites of food and my stomach is uncomfortably full.  Hoping this is just a lull and I feel a little more back to normal next week.  On the plus side, not as much pelvic discomfort this week -- I think baby turned since I'm feeling kicks higher up/to the side now, and less down low.

    3. Any appointments upcoming?

Nothing until monthly OB appt and GD test in a few weeks.

    4. Rants/ Raves/ Questions?

Pretty sure I covered my rant in "how are you feeling" :)

Rave is that we managed to do a lot of baby clothes organizing this week.  Like @RachelR17 and @precious88 we are having a second of the same sex close together, so we don't have to buy much in the way of clothing, but we managed to sort through all of DS1's clothes and pack them by size/season so they're ready to go for DS2.

    5. What are you procrastinating the most on your to-do list (before baby or otherwise)?

We've been pretty good about tackling at least one thing on our to do list every week.  I want to wash/sanitize a bunch of things (baby toys, playmat, pump parts, etc.) and that seems to be the one item that keeps getting pushed back another week.

    6. What did you do for Halloween yesterday? Dressing the bump?

Took DS1 trick or treating for the first time and it was a big hit.  At 18 months, I wasn't sure how he would do but kid had a lot of stamina and really enjoyed himself!

When I was a FTM with DD the only classes DH and I took were basic infant care and CPR. I found them both to be very helpful and I felt like we were prepared (as one can be haha) when DD got here. This time, the only class I'm taking is another CPR class for DH and me. When I had to be certified for my old job, we were required to go through the class every one year so we're planning to keep doing that. It's the only one, in my opinion, that is absolutely necessary since baby's (or someone else's) life could end up depending on it.

But I think a lot of it has to do with the type of birth you want, and your major goals for parenting. If you really want a non-medicated vaginal birth, then I imagine birthing classes focusing on that would be super important. If you're determined to exclusively breastfeed for 6 months, breastfeeding classes will probably be important. I wanted all the drugs during labor, and knew that I would only be able to breastfeed for two months after DD was born, so none of that seemed important in my case haha.

  • 1. How far along are you? How big is baby?

    26 weeks, kale

    2. How are you feeling/ current symptoms?

Feeling pretty good overall.  I get tired quicker and gravity is no longer my friend.  I feel like everything is pulling me down.  I'm also a lot more hormonal lately.  Everything DH does pisses me off and I flip out on the boys quicker than usual, but I am also more patient with some things so it's really a crap shoot with me right now

    3. Any appointments upcoming?

Regular checkup and glucose test on Monday.

    4. Rants/ Raves/ Questions?

Everyone is getting sick in my house.  I also have DS1s annual allergy appt tomorrow to see how he's doing and I know his doc is going to get on my about his cough and congestion (it's also a lung center).  Crossing my fingers he'll grow out of the last of his allergies (peanut and tree nut)!!

    5. What are you procrastinating the most on your to-do list (before baby or otherwise)?

Moving all the bedrooms around.  DS1 will keep his room, which has the bunk beds that he shares with DS2 right now.  DS2 will move to the spare room (once the office furniture has been moved) so he can have his own space if he wants it and then the baby will get the nursery.  Since no one is actually lacking a place to sleep I keep putting off moving DS2 clothes and stuff to his new room.

    6. What did you do for Halloween yesterday? Dressing the bump?  Halloween party at work. I dressed up as a Sneetch from Dr Seuss.  When the kids went or last night I had door duty and wore a tee shirt with a jack 'o lantern on the belly. Boring, but it worked.

  • 1. How far along are you? How big is baby?

25 weeks. Baby girl is the size of a cauliflower or a baseball glove.

    2. How are you feeling/ current symptoms?

I feel good, minus the hemorrhoids and yeast infection due to the antibiotics I was taking for my wasp sting... seriously, I’ve had a wonderful pregnancy so far besides these little things. I can’t complain too much.

    3. Any appointments upcoming?

We have a 3D US scheduled in a couple weeks. I’m so excited for that! Won’t do the glucose test until 28 weeks.

    4. Rants/ Raves/ Questions?

I have started to get some fears that we won’t get everything done that we need to before baby gets here.  I keep reading how far along everyone else is on their nursery’s and starting hospital bags already, and I’m over here like... what? Crap, I need to get on this. My sense of urgency has increased recently. I’m not sure if we can wait until Black Friday/Cyber Monday to buy nursery furniture.

    5. What are you procrastinating the most on your to-do list (before baby or otherwise)?

Like @RachelR17  and @MrsJ2410 I feel like I need to do everything still! The nursery still has the queen size bed in there, no furniture or rocker has been purchased. My family is doing the baby shower early January and I would have rather had things done before then so I’m not huge and trying to set up the room the way I want.  I did manage to get my RX for the breast pump! Woo, little things!

    6. What did you do for Halloween yesterday? Dressing the bump?

DH and I sat out in our driveway handing out candy to the kiddos and talking to the parents. I’m glad it was nice out or else we wouldn’t have done that. One of our friends surprises us and showed up to our house with their new baby dresses up as Little Res Ridig Hood and the Big Bad Wolf... it was adorable!

I did dress he bump up for Halloween at work. I worked in XR instead of MRI so I got to wear my skeleton baby shirt. My patients loved it!

  • Saw this today and thought I’d share with you ladies!
  • 1. How far along are you? How big is baby? 25 weeks, cauliflower

    2. How are you feeling/ current symptoms? I feel big. My mom was visiting last weekend and commented on how much bigger I am than I was with DD. I have a waddle already, because baby is sitting so low.

    3. Any appointments upcoming? Nope

    4. Rants/ Raves/ Questions? I caught a nasty cold that my daughter brought home from daycare, and am feeling pretty miserable. I just want to be able to take some cold medicine!! I'm going on day 7, and have already canceled two of my classes, so can't really take any more time off. I'm just sitting in my office now, hacking up a lung and drowning in snot (TMI? Too gross? yeah...). And I have office hours today, and know that a bunch of students are planning to come to complete an assignment. Waaaaaaaaah I wanna go home!

    5. What are you procrastinating the most on your to-do list (before baby or otherwise)?  I actually tackled a big one this weekend, with my mom-- sorting through all of DD's baby clothes for gender-neutral items to keep, and giving the very girly stuff to a couple of friends who recently had/ are having baby girls. Otherwise, the biggest thing is potty training DD, and that is currently in progress. I guess I'm procrastinating on calling the hospital and confirming their policy on doulas (because I'm afraid of what they'll say :( )

    6. What did you do for Halloween yesterday? Dressing the bump? Took DD to a friend's neighborhood (no trick or treating in our neighborhood :( ) and visited houses for the first time. She was sooo shy!! It was pretty sweet, though. Her treat bag looked like a monster (she was also dressed like a monster), which she "fed" her candy to.

Sounds like we are all getting ready for the dreaded glucose test.

We took a breastfeeding class and are doing one this weekend called ABCs of baby @MrsJ2410.  DH has never changed a diaper in his life.  It goes over basic stuff but also covers what we can expect for my postpartum care.

    1. How far along are you? How big is baby? 26 weeks.  A Kale??  How weird.

    2. How are you feeling/ current symptoms? Overall not bad.  Like @MrsJ2410 said tired.....all the time.  Starting to have hip and crotch pain which is fabulous.

    3. Any appointments upcoming?  My next one is Nov 16th.  I need to do my glucose test next week so he can have the results for my appointment.

    4. Rants/ Raves/ Questions?   We picked up the nursery furniture this weekend!!!  The leg was broken on the nightstand so they are ordering us a new one.  It won't be in until mid-December but I think we'll make it ok without a nightstand until then.  The crib is still in the box.  We are going to tackle that this weekend bc my dad wants to help.  I'll put a picture below of Chuck "helping" get stuff out of a box.  It was very cute.

    5. What are you procrastinating the most on your to-do list (before baby or otherwise)?  We need to schedule interviews with pediatricians.  We've narrowed it down to a specific practice and office but they have 6 doctors there.  One is a friend's husband (I am leaning towards using him) but we want to interview them all.

    6. What did you do for Halloween yesterday? Dressing the bump?  I barely made it out of my office at 5:30 to get to my cousin's house for 6 so no costume for me.  I went with my niece and nephew.  They are 7 & 8 so this will be one of the last years they will be excited.  I told them they could help pick our LO's costume next year so they are happy about that.

  • 1. How far along are you? How big is baby?

    24 weeks, cantaloupe

    2. How are you feeling/ current symptoms?

Feeling good, also in the honeymoon phase of pregnancy so I’m soaking it in! A little sore, but I put a memory foam pad on my side of the bed which has helped SO much.

    3. Any appointments upcoming?

Next one is our follow up AS on the 15th to confirm or negate the micrognathia diagnosis, so a bit nervous about that. If confirmed we’ll have a bunch more appointments in the next three months, if not hopefully the rest of the time will be uneventful!

    4. Rants/ Raves/ Questions?

Not pregnancy related, but I am terrible at coming up with things to do with DS (16mo) and I feel bad that he ends up watching TV a lot. Thank goodness he at least learns stuff from the shows, but I still wish I was more creative on the activity front! He still puts almost everything in his mouth and it’s cold out now so our outside time is gone, which is making it much harder than in the summer. Idk what I’ll do for him when I’m also taking care of a newborn!

    5. What are you procrastinating the most on your to-do list (before baby or otherwise)?

Oh gosh everything. I really wanted to clean out the garage before it got cold and that never happened, and now I really need to purge the house of junk but I doubt that will happen anytime soon either. I’m not doing a new nursery just yet, probably won’t until after baby is here and DS is closer to switching to a big boy bed so I can put her in his crib when she’s ready to make the transition. They’re going to share a room so I’m not in a hurry to do anything major.

    6. What did you do for Halloween yesterday? Dressing the bump?

We just hopped around to grandparents houses and ‘trick or treated’ kind of that way. Trick or treating has been on the decline around here and we didn’t see tons of kids out which is kind of sad since it was so huge when I was a kid! I think we only had about 5 groups of kids come by our house. DS was the cutest tiger and I didn’t dress the bump, though I wanted to!

  • 1. How far along are you? How big is baby?  25 weeks today, baby is the size of a head of cauliflower, or a prairie dog (which I feel like seems really big! remember when the babies were like, the size of a ladybug??)

    2. How are you feeling/ current symptoms? I'm still feeling good, and thankful for it.  I have definitely been a bit more emotional lately, which has looked like anxiety, crying, snippiness, etc.  Poor DH.  I'm trying to keep it together, but it's been tough at times.

    3. Any appointments upcoming? Nothing until Thanksgiving week, when I go for my 28 week appt. and glucose test.  They gave me the drink last time to hold onto until then...

    4. Rants/ Raves/ Questions?  2 raves this week: 1) I am in the final push of finishing my Master's, and SO close to being done next weekend! This has been tiring, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.  2) We started painting the nursery! This is making me feel so much better, since we'd definitely been putting it off.

Anyone have a great (pregnancy or infant/baby prep) podcast to listen to? I can't remember if I asked this before, but couldn't find it if I did.  I find some of the pregnancy related ones so annoying, but I know that people love some of them.  Any recs?

    5. What are you procrastinating the most on your to-do list (before baby or otherwise)?  I would say signing up for classes/hospital tour, nursery prep?  I feel like the list is long...

    6. What did you do for Halloween yesterday? Dressing the bump? Big, fat nothing. Work (school) was cancelled because of power outages and road closures as a result of a weekend storm, and we don't really celebrate there anyway.  Our town doesn't trick-or-treat door to door, it all happens on the (closed off) Main St.  Essentially, this means that until we have children to bring trick-or-treating, we get to loaf on the couch and not have to do anything.  I wasn't sad about it.

    @RachelR17, I love that! It's totally how I feel.

  • @lucylou214 I really enjoyed the Pregtastic podcast during my first pregnancy.  There's a wide range of topics covered by real moms/pregnant women with a variety of perspectives.
