October FET

Re: October FET

  • @MamaK225 this month was my third failure with PGS tested embryo.... there are no guarantees...

as for doing pgs to the ones you you have already. I think it all depends on their quality if they are good quality I think they’ll be able to survive. @Hopeful_mom retested one of her embryos. And she’s now around 8 weeks pregnant with that embryo.

  • Sorry I haven't been able to check in for awhile, we actually were on vacation and it was nice to just get away and take a short breather.

I am so sorry for all those that have had BFN's this month, it so devastating, especially repeatedly cycle after cycle. Hopefully we will all have success in the near future!

To those with betas still pending, good luck this week, fingers crossed for all of you.

I had the ERA completed in June and July, I will post in the ERA thread as it will be easier for everyone to read and find in the future if needed.

AFM, I had my follow-up consult with the new RE on Tuesday the 24th, it seemed to go well, he had my DH and I complete some additional bloodwork, mine came out great, but DH has very low Vitamin D, so hopefully with a simple supplement there won't be a hold-up for our next cycle.  We went over our protocol, which will be same meds, but much different doses and schedule as well as a lupron trigger vs. HCG trigger.  I am keeping fingers crossed we may be able to try a fresh transfer, my previous RE said that because my ERA showed that I need 6 days of PIO I would never be able to do a fresh cycles, but this new RE said that after an IVF cycle (as long as progesterone doesn't rise), then you don't need as much supplementation and everyone can transfer on the same day with 100% accuracy as the age of embryo coincides with lining.  But, each of my last 2 cycles my progesterone has risen and I have been at risk for OHSS so I am going to just continue to believe that we will be doing a freeze all with an FET very next cycle.  The good thing is, he doesn't make you wait in between cycles, so once we have ER and then get 5-6 day report on frozen blasts, we can submit to insurance for FET and once approved move straight into that cycle.  Really keeping fingers crossed we can get an FET in before the end of the year!

We aren't doing any additional testing, we did the ERA and there was a drastic change in protocol needed from that, and he thinks that with some new supplements I have added as well as a change in stim protocol we will hopefully get higher quality embryos.  He reviewed all my past records (and 2 cycles resulted in 2 and 3 embryos each) and he said he is confident we can aim for 6-10 good quality blastocysts.  They have a more advanced lab and he said he was very displeased with the lab documentation and protocols used previously.  So we are feeling pretty hopeful and confident again.  We also declined PGS, he said he would recommend it 50%, and that it was completely up to us.  But we have only really tried one transfer with a good quality uterine lining so hopefully it was just an embryo issue and we will have success next time.

How is everyone else doing with moving forward?  I understand the desire to wait until after the holidays, sometimes a break is really beneficial physically and mentally!

  • @bethann1022 - Welcome back - and you have been busy! So happy you were able to meet with a new RE and get some more info and potentially positive results! I'll keep you in my thoughts and hope we hear some good news in the coming months!

I'd rather jump into another cycle, but maybe my body does need a rest. The last FET attempt, I was having some stronger reactions to the meds than I've ever had.

  • @cdavies05 we are beta buddies. Funny thing is I will only be 9dp6dt so I almost think mine is too early. I’m with you - ignorance is bliss so I’m not planning on testing. I’m pregnant right now and that’s that. I haven’t had any symptoms for the most part - just mild nausea that only lasts a few minutes. Plus I’m cynical because of TW my losses and CP, I won’t be happy until we hear a heartbeat end TW

    GL to both of us!!
  • @rainbows2018 & @cdavies05 good luck on Thursday! I’m totally in the “ignorance is a bliss” camp! The one time I tested early I witnessed a chemical... it was the worst. And once you see that or have a bfn, PIO hurts 10 times more.

  • @mjbarretto - That is the exact best way to look at it! It definitely takes some time to get there (and sometimes are easier/faster than others ... and others, harder/slower). But only in moving forward can you get progress. All it takes is that first step <3

  • @bethann1022  the new RE sounds promising! Hopefully the new change in protocol is just what you need for success! FX for you!!

So, our plan is to have another endometrial activation to plan for FET again in December. Assuming of course AF shows up at the right time bc my clinic is closed the last two weeks of the year from Christmas until New Years for any ER or FET.

Has anyone seen a december FET thread yet?
Me 30 DH: 31 Married for 7 years
    Dx: MFI
    TTC since 2016
August 2017: IVF #1 (11 eggs retrieved, 8 mature, 3 fertilized with ICIS, 2 Frozen)
    FET #1:  October 11th -- Beta only 12. CP
    FET #2: January 12th -- BFP!
  • Anyone in their TWW have strong cramps like AF is coming but still get a positive? I almost thought I started bleeding (sorry TMI) but haven’t yet. Beta is Tomm - I didn’t have the heart to POAS so will have to wait until the RE calls me back. This wait is going to kill me!!
  • @bethann1022 welcome back! A good vacation is really a good way to refresh and unwind. Yay for the new RE and I'm crossing everything for you on your next try.

@rainbows2018  I have no experience of that yet coz this is my first IVF but I hope for good results tomorrow.

@tnh0413  GL on your next round as well! I hope AF comes on time.

AFM, my FET is scheduled on 11/6. I have 6 patches of 0.76mg of estrogen and in 3 days I'll start my progesterone vaginal tabs. I'm getting nervous.
  • @cdavies05 & @rainbows2018 - FX and the best of luck today on your betas!! I've been looking forward to hearing your good news all week :)

AFM, we're circling back with our RE on Tuesday to discuss another FET (possibly 12/7). Want to hear any other suggestions for the medicated cycle, etc to see if there's a way to boost our odds since we're both pretty much against doing PGS on the remaining embies.

  • @bethann1022, I'm sure it was nice to have a vacation to take your mind off things and a fresh start. It sounds like your conversation with the RE was productive and you have a promising cycle ahead of you!

@rainbows2018-good luck on your beta today

@mamak225, you are so sweet-thank you! Had my bloodwork taken this morning and am supposed to get a call around 2-2:30pm. They said if I don't answer they'll leave my information in the portal. Pretty sure I won't answer because I don't want to be a hot mess at work. Hope you are doing well!

@tnh0413, good luck on your next cycle!!

@tinjp78 Good luck on your FET!! Don't be nervous...I know that is easier said than done though :)

  • @MamaK225 and all the other wonderful ladies - Thank you so much for cheering for me! *

**TW I got a call from my nurse and I am Pregnant!!! Beta was at 366 this AM and I was told that’s a good sign. I go in for a second beta on Saturday and hope it doubles. Given my history of MCs, I obviously have a lot more hurdles ahead of me. But today I’m happy and positively optimistic. Hope this is the rainbow I’ve been praying for. I really appreciate all the support I’ve received from this group - couldn’t have done it without you! End TW.

@cdavies05 you are a better person than I am. I held off POAS but I could never wait to hear the message. I even called my nurse a couple of times to get the results :)

@Mamak225, So excited for you that you were able to schedule a transfer so soon!! I have a good feeling about it and am sending you all the positive vibes!!

AFM-I just found out that we are PREGNANT!!!!! My beta was 961-they didn't say much about the number except that it is "positively positive" haha. My doctor and nurse both called this afternoon and I had to let them both go to voicemail-I was too scared to take the call at work. It was the longest wait ever, but so worth it! Thank you all for your help and support over the past few weeks. All of you are amazing.

@cdavies05!! Congratulations - what a solid #. Do they even need to do a second beta at this point for you?? I go back Saturday for mine.
  • Thank you, @prudence9-2 @tinjp78 , & @rainbows2018

@rainbows2018 They are having me come in on Monday for another Beta and to check my Estradiol & Progesterone levels. They said they want to make sure it is increasing appropriately before scheduling an early OB ultrasound. Good luck on your second beta on Saturday!! For being 9dp6dt your # looks great! I found this nifty chart that shows the Beta ranges for where you are in your pregnancy, so I have been using that as a reference for mine. Sending you good vibes! Congratulations again!! :)

  • @prudence9-2 We had it on Tuesday, yes. Thanks for remembering! We didn't talk to the RE we wanted to see but saw the other one at the practice, which was fine I suppose. Consensus is that we just keep trying since we have a lot of embryos left. He said it had only been two tries and considering my age, we realistically have a 40% chance any time we try. He didn't seem to think that we had reason to worry about my uterine structure yet, but he did say that my AMH levels (from back in JANUARY) were high enough to indicate PCOS. I LOVE HOW THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I'M HEARING ANYTHING ABOUT IT! So we decided that going on Metformin would be a good idea and couldn't realistically hurt.

Interestingly enough, he also offered Neupogen as a possibility and I know you were concerned about the side effects. I said we'd have to think about it (he did mention leukemia) because my first cousin got Leukemia at age 38 and I'm turning 38 in a little over 2 weeks. He said the length of time it's used is short enough not to really worry but I am pretty sure I don't want to do it. We'll see how the next transfer goes without it, whenever it is we decide we want to pick back up again, and go from there. I may get to the point where I want to take ALL THE DRUGS but I'm not there yet.

Since the clinic is an hour away on a good day, and the highway corridor leading there is notorious for being impassible and shutting down during snow storms, we may wait until February. Still thinking about it. :)

@sarcasticowl I had a history of thin lining, negative cycles, and canceled cycles and have borderline PCOS. My RE put me on metformin and a supplement (Ovasitol) back in April which helps regulate the way the hormones and insulin are absorbed and regulated into the body. She said it could take a few months for my body to get used to those two new things. I ended up taking a break over the summer and tried another transfer in October. It was my best lining to date (just over a 6 but it was the best I've ever done and looked "fantastic" with the triple stripe) and *****TW*****

it ended up being successful and I'm now almost 10 weeks. It might be worth asking about the supplement as well. I order it online with a code from my RE's office and I think it's about $78 for three months, so not the most expensive thing compared to all the other drugs we have to order. It's a powder that you mix into any drink twice daily. I have no idea if it was the metformin, the Ovasitol, or something completely random that worked this last transfer. Fingers crossed your next transfer will be the one!!

  • @mtpbadger Thank you SO MUCH for the tip about the supplement, and many congratulations on your success! I’m so glad to hear it; I remember talking with you on another thread about our lining issues and it’s awesome to know you’ve gotten your BFP and are already almost through your first trimester. So amazing :)
  • @sarcasticowl so crazy that he would just mention something from a test in January just now. Ahhh.

But glad you’re good to try another cycle. Don’t blame you about not wanting to try neupogen. So when do you think you’d try again?

im having two ERA biopsies this week. And hopefully next transfer at the end of January.

  • @prudence9-2 I asked the RE about the ERA test and he said it was not available in New York state. I was horrified. I think of this state as being pretty progressive but ERA isn't available AND you can't have surrogate give birth in NY without her name automatically going on the birth certificate and having to adopt your own child. If I had all the time in the world I would be in Albany every other week lobbying for changes to these absurd policies.

I think we're looking at January or February.
  • @sarcasticowl wow! How shocking!! I would think New York State would be ahead of other states. Not behind!!!

so we might be cycle buddies again (hopefully with different outcome this time around ;) )

  • *lurking*
@sarcasticowl ERA is not available in NYS?! I was going to ask my RE about it at my WTF appointment this week! I still will, but at least I’ll be prepared when he says no. Did your RE say why?
  • @Batababy2 He may have mentioned why but I missed it. I was so shocked and upset about it that I think he kept talking and I spaced out about it. Please let me know if you get a different answer or find out why not!
  • @Bababatty @sarcasticowl yeah I’d be interested to find out too why era is not done in NYS.
