@Ceridwen77"this is my body creating this pain, so it wouldn’t create anything I can’t handle."I love that thought! I had terrible back labor with my son and I was young and naive and had been in labor for 30+ hours so I kind of freaked a little and ended up with an epidural (though it did let me relax enough that I finished dilating and it was worn off around the 39th hour- and hour of pushing and actual delivery med free- so theres that I guess lol) but I feel like that thought would have helped me a lot... I'm gonna keep that in the back of my mind this time. I'm hoping to go un-medicated this time. Thank you!

I figured maybe since it was an MFM she would be less likely to make a mistake, but I know they can still make mistakes too. Also, the baby was twisting her body the whole time, which I wonder if that can throw off the scan. It took them two hours to get what they needed because she wasn't turned the right way.
I’m definitely going to get the Bradley Method book. I’m 100% pro me getting an epidural. My birth plan was “labor, hospital, all the drugs”. So when I went into labor and they werent worried about me progressing fast because I was a FTM, and I ended up at 8cm with no epi, I was NOT prepared. Even if you are 100% getting an epidural, READ THE BOOKS. LEARN. don’t be me who couldn’t handle anything and was blacking out from pain because I was 100% not prepared.
@sparklingdiamond, it can most definitely throw off scans! I'm not 100% sure what is going on, but we are all pulling for you! I was further along (past the 30 week mark) and u/s said DD's umbilical cord had an issue and they thought she wasn't getting anything from it, causing her to stop growing. They warned us it could be positioned odd or it could be the real deal. I was hospitalized for the night and had another u/s done by the mfm and baby had moved, showing the umbilical cord was just fine and it was a false alarm. Stuff like that happens all the time.
Who was talking about their butt hurting recently? I have a bad pain deep in my left butt cheek. Like, where that bone is. It's killing me!!! DH is excited to rub it when the kids go to bed.
@suchaglencoco I have the same pain on my left side! I assumed it was sciatica...but, it's sooooooo early for that.
@justsuzie yep! I already booked my doula (who will also be our birth photographer during the times that I am fully supported by my husband)! also, my OB was a doula for 10 years before becoming a doctor. So, all of that, combined with bradley method books and classes....I think I am on the track I want to be. Good luck to you!
Hubby is hunting, baby was at his Mimi's, and I got to watch Stranger Things and eat Jimmy Johns in solitude. It was GLORIOUS. The memory of this day will sustain me for quite awhile.
I’ve been MIA lately. Sorry for my lack of participation. I’ve been super busy making Halloween costumes. I just shipped the last one on Wednesday. Now I get a break until Christmas. I still have to finish my kids’ costumes this weekend though and carve pumpkins.
@curleemama32 I know what you mean! Enjoy! My school had the day off. I did get up and help H and the toddler off to work/daycare, but then I slept till 9, went to Target and Home Goods by myself, met up with H at my appointment, and we had lunch together!
I'm definitely checking out this Bradley method. I've never heard of it, despite almost all our friends having kids already. I had to get a baby shower gift today and it was kind of exciting to see all the cute baby stuff. I can't wait to get my own list going!
Anyone planning on doing a babymoon? At first I was like nooo, we shouldn't spend the money on something like that but somehow the further along I get its becoming more appealing haha. I don't think we would do anything major, just a weekend away maybe.
@nikky8 we went to the coast for the weekend around 30ish weeks. It was low key and inexpensive but really nice to get away. I think we’ll leave DD with my parents and do something similar this time too.
Sorry I've been MIA this week. My uncle died last weekend, so this week has been a whirlwind of family time, wake, funeral, etc. Then I put on the Halloween dance at my school last night.
Caffeine--I usually do two cups of tea a day. Keeps the headache away.
I need to look into the Bradley method and hypnobirthing. I showed up at the hospital 9cm dilated with my first, with no time to wake an anesthesiologist and get an epidural, so i had an unplanned pain- med free birth. Total labor was 6 hours and I was in denial until about hour 3.5. I just want my brain prepared this time.
No babymoon for us. With our first, we had just bought a house and gotten married... no money for a vacation, even a small one. We're still broke with this one. Oh well.
@nikky8 we are planning a babymoon for January. We are on the west coast of Canada and we are thinking maybe Hawaii since it's not super expensive for us to get to and hubby hasn't been. I wish we could go somewhere that wasn't so "kid/baby friendly". But we haven't thought of any ideas yet.

Yes, inexpensive is def. what we would be doing as well, so no warm or exotic destinations for us haha. We don't really go on vacation very often so I feel like we need to do something before the baby comes.
@ceridwen77 Just curious, what company did you guys use for your NIPT? And congrats on a little girl!!
@rachelg777 I honestly have no idea, but I can ask at my next appointment. I am lucky to live near and was sent to a very large MFM center at a huge hospital, so wondering if that’s why I got a bunch of extra tests added? Thanks for the congratulations!
We aren't doing a babymoon per say since we're going on an actual honeymoon starting November 6th. We're also going to go to a localish beach on Easter, which is a month before my due date.
So this is a huge pet peeve of mine... I can't stand it when someone asks you "how are you doing?" Or "how are you?" And then if you say anything other than "I'm good, you?" They act like you're over sharing. Don't ask that if you don't want an actual answer, asshole.
@mileswithmyles this particular guy gets annoyed when I say, I'm tired, but I'm ok. I just feel like if you aren't accepting of an actual answer to that question you should remove it from your greeting monologue. /shrug
My MIL today decided to tell me how she was never sick, had the best pregnancies and births, and that she only gained 15 pounds while pregnant, after I told her how sick and tired I've been today and the scale says I've gained 7 pounds. Then when I told her I can't fit into my jeans right now, she asked me why I'm showing at only 10 weeks. Uggghhh.
@bearwithme yeah that sucks. With my first my HG was so bad I actually tore the whole lining of my throat out. It was gross. *TMI??? I literally was just throwing up straight blood, had to go to the ER, took three IV injections to get it to stop.** I hope it eases up soon!!
@justsuzie (and anyone else!!) also don't be afraid to ask about non epidural pain relief. With my first I had a lot of back labor in the middle of the night and couldn't stop vomiting from pain. So I accepted something call Nubain. It just eased the pain for a little while and allowed me to get a little bit of rest and relax which helped DS move off my tail bone.
We haven't talked about a babymoon or getaway. Probably just see how things go closer to the end. Im also getting nervous for some reason that this baby is going to have the same issues as DS. With him, he had a condition called IUGR (intrauterine growth restriction) where basically his placenta didn't form right and he couldn't grow at the same healthy weight as other babies. It just feels like al of my symptoms are going the same way so far. DS is okay now, but pregnancy was just so stressful and full of soooo many doctor appointments. Like three times a week. For twelve weeks. And being told constantly we don't know how long we can let you go. We might induce next week.. it was just so much. Sorry that was long.
@theletlers wow that sounds like a tough pregnancy! 3 appointments a week is A LOT! I havent heard of IUGR. I hope this time is much easier, even though it seems similar to last. When do you find out if it's the same condition?
Regarding the baby moon, does anyone have a suggestion for a cool city that will be warm enough to enjoy the beach in February-ish timeframe? I don’t care if it’s in the US or not. We are not beach going people when we travel, but I thought if we took a nice vacation with DD it might be nice to do a couple days at a beach (so I don’t want to be stranded on an island at an all-inclusive or anything like that).
Edited: well maybe this won’t work because of Zika. Ugh.
I'm kind of having a talk me down moment. I have a cold that got really bad yesterday so I couldn't sleep and the crap running down my throat was making me gag so bad. I asked DH to run out and get me Tylenol PM or somethibg like it cause I read Nyquil was not recommended. Such a caring husband he is ran out and got Tylenol cold and flu. In my miserable state I gulped them down and fell asleep thankfully. This morning I was reading that med has phenylephrine which isn't recommended mostly in first tri due to blood vessel constriction. Well I realize I'm 12 and a half weeks but I feel horrible like I screwed up.
Also does anyone have recommendations for what they take or I maybe am okay to keep taking that? Colds take a thousand years to clear up for me and meds usually are my saving grace.
@charlestonchew I had a bad cold last pregnancy and didn’t take anything except some halls cough drops. I did get a list of acceptable medications from my OB, but really nothing packed enough of a punch to really do anything to improve how I felt. So I just suffered through it. It sucks.

I'm sporting quite the "rash" today from the petechia- and apparently it can take up to a week to resolve.
Welcome back, HG, and thanks for the fun new symptom.
