Labor/Newborn Apps

Does anyone have recommendations for an app for labor and/or the newborn phase? Something that you can use to help monitor contractions, and then something you can use to record and track feedings and anything else that's supposed to be monitored with a baby? I'm not sure how mandatory tracking some of this is and I'm pretty lax about most stuff, but wanted to have something ready in case I'd like to utilize it.

Re: Labor/Newborn Apps

  • no recs for labor apps but we LOVED babytracker for the newborn phase. you can enter feedings/diapers/sleep/activities, weight, height and it will chart it against WHO normals. multiple people/devices can have access to the app so if your out and about and DH has the kiddo you can see how things are going. Its awesome for multiples because you can easily enter more than one child and flip back and forth. its super user friendly.

  • I was lurking on another board and someone mentioned Full Term for tracking contractions, so I downloaded it. I'm a FTM so obviously no firsthand experience, but I'm hoping it'll work out for me! haha.

  • I also loved baby tracker!  I used it a lot in the first few months. It helped me remember what side she’d last fed on and as she got a little bigger, helped me see patterns in her sleep so I could start scheduling naps. It’s a great app!

  • I’ll be using full term for contractions. Last time my water broke and just headed straight to the hospital so I didn’t need that app. For nursing I absolutely LOVED Baby Nursing. I could track absolutely everything about nursing, pumping, baby, it was perfect for me. Ovia Baby was also sort of cool for milestones and overall general things.
  • I used Glow Baby with DD. Very helpful for keeping track of feedings and everything else. I also downloaded a free contraction tracker last time (don't even remember what it was called), which I used a few times near the end.

  • I used Contraction Timer with DS.... And last week when puking threw me into 2 hours of contractions. Its simple and super user friendly. Does the job!

  • For newborn phase, I highly recommend the Wonderweeks app (totally worth paying for it). Just remember to use your original due date and not actual date of birth or the phases will be off but I found it spot on with DS's development.

  • @wabash15 I downloaded baby tracker but I don't see how to setup an account so that we can use it on multiple phones? Is that a paid feature or something?
  • I also second Wonder Weeks. It is an absolute lifesaver when your baby is being a nightmare and you just can't seem to make them happy, at least for DS it was almost always related to a leap (explained in the app). Plus it helps you prepare for what's coming and generally just relieves a lot of anxiety about development.

  • @ashtynmo I will ask my DH, he is the one that set it up... (I am not a tech person so he take care of all of this stuff for you)
ok he says  the he linked it to dropbox and it was shared that way as long as both people have the app on the phone

  • Another vote for Full Term.

Im on the fence with Wonder Weeks. I feel like it lined up better with DD’s actual age and not gestational, plus I think some of what the app tells is is total BS. Luckily I won’t have to pay for it again, but I probably wouldn’t buy it if I was a FTM.

  • I loved Wonder Weeks! You need it in your life. Also for newborn tracking stuff, I used BabyConnect last time and will this time too. It wasn't free, maybe $3?
  • I see like three different wonder weeks ones with I search for it. Which one are you guys talking about.
  • This one ?
  • Not labor or newborn, but I did download a kick count app ("Count the Kicks!" with a yellow/teal/red logo) that has given me peace of mind many a night lately  ;)
