Girl names

We are stuck on girl names. Which is your favorite from our list?

Adelaide
Nora
Clara
Cora
Abigail

My top is Adelaide...but is it too far out there?!

Re: Girl names

  • I don’t mind the name Adelaide, but it will definitely have her joining the ranks of Addy’s from the Addalynn /Adalyn/Adeline and Addison trend that has been going on. If you don’t mind the popular nickname I say go for it. I worked at a daycare for a while and at one point we had 3 Adelaide’s and the moms were like “no way! I thought she was the only one!”

I think Clara, Cora, and Nora are all classics and not popular enough that she would be the only one in her class (except maybe Nora which is becoming a very popular nickname for Eleanor). Abigail is lovely as well, but is having another resurgence and Abby just sounds way to close to Addy, and I wouldn’t want her to get lost in that.

Sorry for the novel, im a total name nerd and tend to overthink a lot of name stuff as a teacher. Hopefully that was helpful!

  • Adelaide, hands down!!  <3
  • My favorite is Nora. I was pushing for it hard for this LO early on in the pregnancy. You should head over to the baby name thread that is already going on. It’s got tons of posts and you’ll probably be more likely to get responses. Also, you can go to the baby name board that can be found on the page where you select “my birth club”. Look at the bottom of that screen under “all forums, specialty, then baby names”. You can set polls where tons of people help with names.
  • Cora is my favorite off your list. Nora and Abigail are quite popular (at least around here) and as Cricket99 mentioned, Adelaide is LOVELY but it turns into Addy, and there are just so many Addies right now.

Cora reminds me of Coral and it seems old fashioned in a good way.
  • So, all of these except Clara have been on our list for this babe at some time or other. I personally love Adelaide, but I couldn't get DH on board.

Our current #1 is Abigail. Our 2 y.o. struggled saying "baby" for awhile, and it came out closer to "Abby"...it has kind of stuck. Both kids refer to her as "Abby Baby" now, and DH and I both find it adorable.

  • I'm loving Cora! It reminds me of Downton Abbey!

  • Nora is my favorite but that’s because it’s my daughter’s name!! That are all beautiful names though and you can’t go wrong with any of them in my opinion.
