  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
    31 weeks- an otter
    2) Sex/name of your LO?
    Girl! Still nameless
    3)
    How are you feeling?
Good. Sometimes she likes to crowd my lungs and makes it hard to breathe though
    4) Any appointments this week/last?
Last week- standard. Heartbeat was good
    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Rave- my baby shower invite was finally sent out! Now to wait on responses...
    6) GTKY:
Have you ever won an award or trophy? What was it for?
Tons. I did dance competitively from age 4-16. My most memorable award was: Most Dedicated Dancer from my studio (included a full years dance tuition!) It came with a nice plaque. I still have allllll my plaques, trophies, ribbons, etc. oh and all my old dirty pointe shoes... it’s a dancer thing I guess haha.

    2) Sex/name of your LO? We will name a boy after DH, but will decide on a nickname after he is born. Both DH and his dad go by the same name, so a boy would definitely have a nickname from the start. I'm not calling all 3 of them the same thing! With a girl, we are still debating. DH doesn't like my favorite (Rosalie). His favorite is Hallie, which I like, but sounds nickname-y to me, so I am wondering how it will grow with her. I am debating Harriet, calling her Hallie, and that way she has a more formal name if she wants/needs it. If Hal is a nickname for Henry, I figure Hallie works as a nickname for Harriet or Henrietta. I also like the possibility of Harriet Rosalie, whereas with Hallie I think Rosalie is too rhyme-y. Hallie Rose isn't bad, though. Other names on our list include Serafina (calling her Fi, but possibly too much of a mouthful with our last name), Cora or Coralie (2 of my great-grandmothers were Cora, but it seems to be rising in popularity, so I am not sure about it, and it might be too cutesy with DD's name, which also starts with C), Tessa, Brenna (DH doesn't love that one either), Nola, etc. DH likes Eleanor (I think mostly because he likes the nickname Ellie), but one of my good friends has a daughter named that, so I feel like it is "taken." We didn't make a final decision on DD's name til she was born, so I'm not sure we'll narrow this down before the baby arrives. It'll probably be a hospital room debate ;)

    3)
How are you feeling? Still fighting a cold courtesy of DD, and some vulva pain/swelling, but doing ok. My pelvis at least has been alright lately.

    4) Any appointments this week/last? Last week and next week. only 8 weeks til c-section at this point!

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? I would just like to be well/comfortable/not tired for a few days, but I may have reached the point in this pregnancy where that is impossible.

    6) GTKY:
Have you ever won an award or trophy? What was it for? Mostly academic awards in school. I also won some ribbons/medals for swimming when I was young. Backstroke was my favorite.

  • @balletnerd Glad to see you live up to your TB handle :)
@cait5413 Those names are all great, I can see why you have a hard time deciding.

    1) How far along are you
    ? How big is baby?
    32 Weeks, pineapple.

    2) Sex/name of your LO?
    Little dude named Thatcher

    3)
    How are you feeling?
Grouchy over this stupid cold from the stupid lady at work, but preggo-wise I'm doing well.

    4) Any appointments this week/last?
Dragging my DH to an appointment tomorrow so we can discuss/plan what to do about his family not getting vaccinated.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Psyched my OB is removing a painful mole on my side that I've wanted gone since I was like 8. It's not cancerous or anything.

    6) GTKY:
Have you ever won an award or trophy? What was it for?
Certainly nothing as cool as the Christmas Story lamp.

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby? 33 weeks, celery

    2) Sex/name of your LO? a girl, Beverly

    3)
How are you feeling? Good! Just bouts of puffiness and 'm not crazy about my new double chin, but whatever. I feel like we're all pretty close to the finish line and I'm just happy I can still go about my day pretty normally.

    4) Any appointments this week/last? Growth ultrasound in a few hours yippeee

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? Maternity leave is going to be awesome but my policy at work really sucks. We have to apply for short-term disability which is only 6 weeks, and it's kind of a stupid/annoying process to apply for it. Then I have to dip into my vacation time.

    6) GTKY:
Have you ever won an award or trophy? What was it for? a lot of sport trophies but my proudest was getting the "unsung hero" trophy for HS soccer. I was always an average athlete growing up and really did it for the social aspect, but for some reason I gave soccer an extra push one year and kicked butt. It was also my last year of playing a sport so it was also the last trophy I ever received.

  • @peachy13 sorry to hear your policies for leave are a pain. I'm in an Academic Motherhood group and one of the ladies posted the other day that her (large) university is trying to force her to take FMLA, which is so weird. They can't force you to take weeks of unpaid leave, particularly as she will still be working (no one can cover her classes in the spring semester). It was such a bizarre post. I know our leave policies in this country suck, but a major university should have a written policy that does not include an HR person emailing you to tell you you HAVE to take FMLA.

I teach in the business school, so I love to blow my students' minds about family leave. Most of them have no idea we have no federal paid leave.

  • 1) How far along are you
    ? How big is baby?
    30 weeks! An eggplant

    2) Sex/name of your LO?
Boy, Felix. Told my coworker how my MIL without knowing totally dissed the name Felix. Me and hubby could not care about what she thinks of the name.

My coworker thinks we should change it. She thinks my MIlL will call the baby by a middle name. What? No.. it'll be fine. It's also the same name my SIL's friend gave her kid and apparently we'll be accused of copying it. Again., I'm like, I don't care. That's not even a point..

    3)
    How are you feeling?
a lot better than last week!! Still hip pain. Muscle cramps came back with a vengeance last night.

    4) Any appointments this week/last?
    Saw my OB everything's normal.
Saw the pelvic floor physio. She gave some suggestions to hopefully help with the hip pain.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Sad week for us in canada. We lost a beloved actor who played Jim Lahey on Trailer Park Boys. And Gord Downie front man for the tragically hip lost his battle with cancer :( two icons in a matter of two or three days. So sad.

    6) GTKY:
Have you ever won an award or trophy? What was it for?
achieving the highest score in grade 12 math! I also was recognized for top 3 members having the best gym attendance at a place I used to workout at.
