Re: Daily Check In 10/18

  • How far along are you?  When's your due date?  Do you know the sex?
    11+1, 5/8.  Not yet.  I think it's a boy.
    FTM/STM+?  Other kids' ages?
STM, 3 year old twin girls
How are you feeling, physically and emotionally?
I was so excited yesterday because I thought I was finally feeling better, and I guess Karma wanted to put me in my place.  I feel like total shit today.  Nausea is back full force, headache was terrible last night, and still raging over little things.
    Weird cravings/aversions?
Back to nothing sounding good, and not really wanting to eat anything.
Rants/Raves/Questions? (Combine this with WTF Wednesday?  Thoughts?)
Rant- this fucking nausea needs to go. away.  Rave-our supervisor set up a masseuse to come to the office today, and I totally forgot about it until my co-worker reminded me!  Free 15 minute massage?  Yes, please!  Last time it was a good looking guy in a kilt (I have a HUGE obsession with kilts, anyone who sticks around will learn that about me), with full sleeve tattoos on both arms.  I'm really hoping it's him again!  Questions- I've read that some places won't do massages in first tri, their specific website just said to let the masseuse know, so I'm assuming it's ok?  Any input?
What are you doing to prepare for baby right now?
Nothing really.  Figuring out sleeping situation.  We don't really want to buy another crib, but our girls' cribs are now their toddler beds, and we don't really feel ready to move them into full sized beds yet.

  • @sandbar517 a massage sounds so good!  I think it is because they don't want to be considered a risk factor for loss at the early stage.  I would tell them so they also avoid pressure points that can trigger contractions.  When I had a massage a few days before my due date with DS, the masseuse hit the pressure points to start labor because I told her I wanted the baby out.  She said she avoids them in women who are less than a week or two away from their due date.  I was a a standstill with dilation up until that point and I swear it was the massage that got things going and I went into labor the next day.
  • @mileswithmyles My MIL is the same way with the questions.  I feel like she's doing it to be nice, but it gets really old when she asks me every day how I'm feeling when most of the time the answer is "like shit".

    FTM/STM+?  Other kids' ages?  2 kids, 3.5 and 1.5

How are you feeling, physically and emotionally?  Alright.  Dealing with headaches, trying to figure out the triggers this time since they're different than my previous pregnancies.

    Weird cravings/aversions?  Nope.

Rants/Raves/Questions? (Combine this with WTF Wednesday?  Thoughts?)

  • How far along are you?  When's your due date?  Do you know the sex?
Am I the only one who isn't sure yet?  I finally go to the doctor next Tuesday!  I'm gonna say I'm due 5/30 which makes me 8 weeks today.  Don't know  the sex yet.

    FTM/STM+?  Other kids' ages?
My daughter will be 10 months next week

How are you feeling, physically and emotionally?
Physically I'm feeling better.  My stomach feels off but I haven't thrown up since Saturday!  I had a bad day emotionally yesterday but am feeling better today

    Weird cravings/aversions?
It varies by minute.  My husband came home with candy corn the other night and looking at it made me sick.  Then after dinner I couldn't stop snacking on them.

Rants/Raves/Questions? (Combine this with WTF Wednesday?  Thoughts?)
THis is a rant that turned into a rave.  I've complained about this subject before but it's now day 3 of giving my daughter formula and nursing her less.  I am so sad to have to stop nursing way sooner than planned but it's actually been a relief and I know it's the right move for her, me, and #2.

a WTF today and second rant is the system at work where I was entering my year end performance review stuff that crashed in the middle of it and lost all of the work I did!  Agh I wanted to scream!!

What are you doing to prepare for baby right now?
    Nothing yet

  • @sandbar517 @artlea2013 I'm also unsure of what to do about a second crib.  I don't want to buy another.  My daughter will be 17 months when #2 comes and I'm guessing it'll be a few months after that when we'd put #2 in the crib.  Is that too soon to switch to a regular mattress?  My sister puts her daughter on a mattress on the floor so she can't roll off.  I thought I would probably do that.
  • @fraufarbissina Montessori style floor beds are definitely easy enough to set up if you want to go that route. You just need to make sure that the room is baby safe then as she'll likely roam about. I've heard that it can work really well though, if you're willing to give your child that independence

@molly1108-2 Thanks for wanting to keep my workload down!  Anyone can start these, though, and I think when most people voted for the daily check in (if I can be so bold as to speak for other people) it was to help eliminate some of the other threads so stuff wasn't getting too redundant.  So I figured a rant is kinda the same as a Monday Bitchfest, a Twatwaffle Tuesday, WTF Wednesday, etc.  Obviously I think we need to keep the UO Thursday and FFFC, because those are just too much fun.
Edited because I forgot to tag @fraufarbissina.  Ours are in their toddler beds, so the decision for us would either be bunk beds (which I think they're too young for), two twin size beds or one full size bed.  They'll be 4 when this baby gets here, but I think they're still too young for "regular" size beds, and honestly I'm not sure we have the room for two twins (beds, of course LOL) or a full size/queen size bed in their room.  So, as much as it sucks, I think we may just end up buying a third crib.  But I think we may look into a mini crib, since baby will most likely be staying in our bedroom for the first few months until we (hopefully quickly) find a bigger house to move into.  Then when Baby is ready for a toddler bed, hopefully the older two will be ready for regular size beds.

  • We definitely just have a floor bed for my oldest.  Works great.  I'm hoping to hold off on moving #2 out of the crib until after our move in June/July.

@sandbar517 oh yeah you have the added trouble of having to have two of everything!  And now a third of everything.

as if now i'm not entirely sure where I'll be living in May so that's a factor too.  Will most likely be playing the bed/crib situation by ear and using the pack and play as a temporary solution

Edit: a lot happened since I started writing this!

@theletlers don't even get me started insurance!  I hope you get what you need and it all works!

@kpc914 that's cute!  Your 15 year kiss-aversary is coming up!

11w5d Edit: Forgot to answer...5/4 and not yet. Took the NIPT the 16th.

    FTM/STM+?  Other kids' ages?
    FTM

How are you feeling, physically and emotionally?
    Ok enough.

    Weird cravings/aversions?
I'm losing most of my aversions, but I still only really want junk. I'm trying to be healthy!

Rants/Raves/Questions? (Combine this with WTF Wednesday?  Thoughts?)
    None.

Personally, i like the regular weekly posts (WTF Wednesday, etc). Since people were complaining this board is slow, won't having both help? I'm also not sure if I'll participate in these daily threads (it's kind of a lot when combined with the other similar threads like PGAL, AMA, new weekly, etc) and maybe others feel the same way. I'm fine either way though.

What are you doing to prepare for baby right now?
Nothing really. As a FTM, I would like to read a few baby books but the couple I bought are currently collecting dust. No motivation lol.

  • @justsuzie right!? I'm holding onto the slim hope they will be able to use the current sample and get me some results ASAP. But labs are pretty picky with things like that...
  • I'm never going to be able to keep up with these every day  :'(

    11w6d 5/3 not til November

    FTM/STM+?  Other kids' ages?
    STM 18m

How are you feeling, physically and emotionally?
I feel dead. I'm exhausted in every single facet of my being. I can't wait to stay home tomorrow and only have to do laundry.

    Weird cravings/aversions?
    Aversions? Everything. Cravings? Soup...

Rants/Raves/Questions? (Combine this with WTF Wednesday?  Thoughts?)
No these should remain separate for those of us who can't commit to do this level of activity every single day. Also most opportunities to post, means more posting.

Rant being pregnant feels like being pregnant.
Rave my wedding dress still fits! But I definitely look obviously pregnant already (hello stm tummy!)

What are you doing to prepare for baby right now?
I'm currently focusing on surviving, forcing myself to eat more than once a day, and actually consuming some form of solids. I'm going to bed semi early tonight because I look like I've been run over by a truck lately

@desertdweller-21 hubby and I met in 2002 as 14 year olds! Dated on and off in highschool and have been consistently together since 2006 (18 year olds) We married in 2013. Love that you and your husband have been together for so long!

@fraufarbissina I didn't even realize it was 15 years ago this month! Thanks for reminding me! <3

  • @mileswithmyles good luck at your scan today. Hope you get some good pics.
  • @sandbar517 I had a gift certificate for a massage that my dad won at an auction or something and before I realized they wouldn't do it on me, it was too late to cancel so DH got my free massage. NOT COOL.

@justsuzie I'm hoping girl this time because I would like to have a girl at some point and who knows if this is it for us, but I'm totally fine with boys because I have them and I have clothes for them and I the ones I have so far are pretty cool humans.

  • @mileswithmyles so happy for you!

I know people are very anti-Old Wives Tales here, but I was wondering if you were going to have a girl with your aversion to meat (pretty sure that was you?). A couple of my friends who had girls said that. Guess you’ll find out for sure in a few more weeks! Congrats on the low risk results. What a relief  :)

  • @silverhope I do have a meat aversion!  But I had it with DS, too, so who the heck knows! It was a huge relief to have a good appointment.
  • @justsuzie, I don't know if he's a stripper or not, would love to ask him! LOL  After seeing him for the second time Wednesday, I decided he's definitely more sexy than hot, but I'll take it.
@silverhope I had twin girls and never had any meat aversions.  ::Shrugs::  I ate all the salt.  Pickles, olives, mustard, vinegar, anything I could get my hands on.  Interestingly enough, they both LOVE salty stuff.

  • @sandbar517 As expected, another untrue Old Wives Tale ha  :D  Oh well! This should teach me patience.

Though I’m sad to know that my offspring may inherit the diet I am eating now because I don’t think I’ve had too many healthy foods since nausea kicked in.
