  Ok, I also did it super selfishly lol Have any of you heard this? I only got to read the captions because I'm at work so I can't listen to it, but it still has me crying at my desk. It's a 999 call (UK 911?) The little girl that calls in is like 3, her pregnant mom fell down the steps and knocked herself out. But the operator is so good with her, it's so sweet (and scary for the mom, but sadly it stops before we find anything out other than she's awake and the medics are there)

  ETA: someone commented that they googled it and mom and baby are doing well, and Emma (the three y/o) got an award for bravery! So theres a happy ending all around!

  I'm on the verge of tears today because I had to get up. I seriously have lost all morning motivation (not that I had much to begin with). I've been late to work the past few days simply because I can't bring myself to get out of bed in time to get myself ready, take care of the dogs, and get DD up and ready. Hoping 2nd trimester brings more pep in my step.

  I cried because we went to our wedding venue today and it is so beautiful I lost my cookies. Effing pregnancy making me feel emotions and shit...

  My son goes through a two hour phase at night where all he wants to do is playfully kick and jump on me. Normally it’d be cute but right now I’m worried he’s going to hurt me I tried explaining it to him as to why he can’t kick me but he’s also in a big “not listening” phase. It’s hard. Everyone complains about the terrible twos but the threes have been the absolute hardest for me.

  ****Major trigger warnings (violence)***
  A teacher at a private school in our old neighborhood was shot and killed a random gang shooting. She taught at the school for 30 years:-( My heart is broken for that school community. I know a lot of families there. It’s just so shocking.

  I’ve found that three years olds are impossibly difficult. They push every limit and are much more strong willed than two year olds. It’s a really hard phase, but four is much, much easier.

  @gildah that’s what I’ve heard. I really look forward to it haha. Don’t get me wrong, he definitely has his redeeming moments where he’s the sweetest, most thoughtful little boy I’ve ever met but the tough times are TOUGH.

  We saw people setting up for a small wedding on the beach in front of our resort earlier. I kept peeking because I wanted to see the couple. They were probably in their 60s. The second I saw them walking out together I teared up. Oh, hormones.

  @justsuzie when I clicked on that link, it took me to the very bottom of the article, and I was SO confused.  After I finally realized I was being stupid and scrolled to the top, I LOVE it.  It's SO true that we need to do better for new moms, and dads, too.  I was insanely excited when my job started offering 4 weeks paid maternity leave, and this was just earlier this year.  I am still super grateful and realize it's a lot more than many other places offer, but at the same time I realize how absurd it is that I should get this excited over 4 weeks with full pay when so many other countries offer months and months.  Why is that America can't get their shit together and realize that times have changed, women want to (and sometimes have to) work and be mothers at the same time, and that we NEED time to heal and be with our babies?  It makes me so angry.

  sandbar517  I'm a teacher so I get 6 weeks....which turns out to be more because it doesn't count weekends as part of that time.  Even still, I cannot imagine going back to work any sooner than that!  Thankfully I have the summer attached to my leave.  But poor SO is back at school (late bloomer) and we will be having the baby during his finals week!  Yikes!!! SO I know the first few weeks will be extra tough.  I feel terrible for moms who have to go back to work and/0r but their kids in daycare at 6 weeks old!  I'll admit, the birth stories no matter how cartoony they are, scare the hell out of me.

  @justsuzie, we get the full 12 weeks allowed by FMLA, but it's with Short Term Disability pay, which is only 60%.  So I was excited that they offer the 4 weeks with full pay.  Then, of course, you have to exhaust your sick time before the Short Term Disability (I still giggle every time they call it STD) kicks in.  And I'm excited that I'm pretty sure you can choose NOT to use vacation time, so I can still use that later on if I need to/want to.  Between the 4 weeks full pay, and my sick time I've built up, I may get by the whole 12 weeks with full pay.  Fingers crossed.
  ETA Sorry, didn't realize this was the Why I'm Crying thread.  Thought it was randoms.  Although, I guess the state of our (lack of) maternity and paternity leave in the US is reason enough to make me cry, so......

  I'm having a lot of FWP. I'm working from home and my internet is being fickle. My computer screen decided to rotate itself 90 degrees for no reason. My cell phone is running really slowly and I think I'm going to need a new one soon. My computer decided it needed to install updates without warning in the middle of something and I lost work. And contractors are here working on our kitchen and their music (totally normal, non-offensive, oldie/top40ish) is annoying me.
