We have our anatomy scan today at 1130 so I’m looking forward to seeing the LO. Genetic testing says it’s a boy but I’d love to confirm that with a cooperating LO today. I haven’t seen baby since 10 weeks other than a brief glimpse on the handheld ultrasound at the end of August. Plus DS was fascinated by the heartbeat with the Doppler two weeks ago, so I’m curious if he’ll be interested today or not.
@mdfarmchick enjoy seeing him! I always love getting to watch them swim around.
We have an appointment tomorrow where we are reviewing an autopsy to make sure we are handling everything appropriately and going over our schedule for appts to see if anything needs to be revised.
We have our A/S on Friday! I’m so excited to see this little guy! My husband just found out he has pneumonia (thankfully non-contagious!!) so I’m mildly worried they won’t let him come in for the appointment. Does anyone have any experience with this? He missed my first ultrasound because I had to go in early due to *TW* bleeding from a SCH *end TW* so he’s really excited to get to see him this time.
@syssa-o sending all the good vibes your way for tomorrow and I’m glad you are looking forward to Thursday. Thanks! I will.
@ksmwalters MH had walking pneumonia while I was pregnant with DS and it never affected him going to my appointments. I mean we were living and sleeping together and he was on antibiotics as soon as they diagnosed him. I don’t see why it should affect him going with you.
@mdfarmchick and @syssa-o enjoy your u/s this week, I'm jealous my u/s isn't until the 30th!
I've been having my weekly heartbeat checks (3 down, 9 to go!) so another one is scheduled for tomorrow morning which I always get a little nervous for but other than that nothing exciting. At my regular appointment last week my dr said I was measuring right on schedule and the little one had nice strong heartbeat.
I have my anatomy scan this afternoon! I'm excited and nervous! We're not finding out the sex of the baby, but I'm really looking forward to seeing him/her again and having the reassurance that (hopefully) everything is progressing well.
Appointment with my OB tomorrow. Hopefully I will be realeased to four week appointment instead of two week ones and be released to the midwife but I'm not holding my breath. I hate my OB. DH is trying to get me moved to a different one in the practice through personal connections.
@cford08 anatomy scan twins! mine is on Friday too.
I'm so so so excited to see the little banana and see how much he/she has grown and make sure everything looks healthy. I feel like it gets "real" once you know the sex, too. It'll be time to start preparing the nursery and all that good stuff.
@ashleyf911 and @cford08 a/s triplets--mine is Friday, too I'm so excited for us all to get a peek at these little ones!
This will be our last a/s as parents, and I'm looking forward to the experience, but as usual, I always go in with some nerves. I pray that baby has four chambers, 2 kidneys, etc. and that everything looks good. If anything isn't as it should be, I'm hopeful that we have a great medical team who can help us out however we need it! I love this appointment, and I'm incredibly amazed by all that we can see and do at this point in medicine, but my mom-nerves get me a bit.
We brought DD to our a/s for DS when she was about a year and a half, and she did really well. DS is 2 on Friday and I don't think he could sit for that long, nor do I think it's resonating with him that there's a baby in my belly. He is still my baby DD has been hot and cold about going, and I think part of her wants to stay because she loves her grandparents, and they are coming to be with DS while we go to the appt.
I've had a ton of appointments lately between my regular OB, MFM, and a liver specialist. Fortunately all turned out normal with the GI doc so no long term liver issues for me! I have an OB appointment today and then will be on a more normal schedule until December. I'm looking forward to hearing babe's heartbeat today
@megpeg Fingers crossed! I can't imagine hating my OB. That would suck suck suck.
First ultrasound (anatomy scan) this Friday!!! I'll be 21 weeks. By this time last pregnancy, I had 2 ultrasounds and multiple chances to connect, see or hear baby. So so so excited to see this Sweet Pea's face and fall even more in love!
I have to go again in another two weeks because although my numbers are in the range they would like she wants to make sure they stay that way- so now I have to go in 2 weeks with a np and then go back in two weeks to see the OB. I might as well not worry about switching to 4 week appointments because that will put me at 24 weeks and at 30 I go back to every 2 weeks. The nurse practitioners have been praising me at how good my numbers are and she makes me feel like a terrible person. I also got my travel card today for when I go to the hospital and she wrote type 2 diabetic on it. The maternal fetal specialist said that I had GD because my A1C was fine at the beginning and 6 months ago. My OB says you can't get GD before 28 weeks. DH called the OB I originally wanted to switch to and he said to let him check things out and see what he could do. Praying it all turns out.
I’m so sorry - what a jerk! Also my understanding is you *can* get it before 28 weeks and that’s why they’ve started testing early! At least that’s what my midwife said. Anyway sending love your way and I hope you can get switched to a new OB ASAP!
Put me on the list for Friday. Super nervous for some reason. I had my MW appt today. It went well. I found out I already have pregnancy anemia, paired with TW hemorrhaging at my last delivery ETW, and not being 18 months inbetween pregnancies, I have to take a supplement. Oh well. I did it for my first one. But it explains my horrible mood, and extreme fatigue. Also, the baby kept punching her doppler every time she would find the HB. We had a good laugh.
@kalawa I'm super anxious about my u/s on Friday, too. No reason for it and I know I'll feel better once I see him. It's just been a rough couple of weeks all around.
@ksmwalters I just hate waiting quietly while they get their measurements. So much pressure. Sending good thoughts to you on Friday! And to all the ladies on Friday!
I actually could have had my scan 2 weeks ago, but I decided to switch to a different location. I've used this location before so I know a doc spends a few minutes with you and you get a 3d printout of baby!!
So, I can't switch to the other OB. The OB I wanted to switch to called me himself to talk to me and told me to keep his number and if things seemed questionable call or text him. He said there is no reason that I cannot see the midwife At the office since she delivered me last time. He said as soon as the baby is delivered he will switch me, no problem.
@megpeg that is so frustrating. Did he say why he couldn’t switch you? Also can you see th midwife for all of your appointments instead of the OB? And finally can you give her some negative feedback or a review or something? Ughhh
I ended up going in for an earlier OB appointment this week. I wasn't supposed to have one for a few weeks but after the fender bender the anxiety kept growing so without consistent obviously baby movement, I just needed a medical professional with a doppler. Everything is good. HB was 150 and the baby kept zipping around in there so even she had a hard time finding it and getting a clear reading. Which makes me feel better about struggling to find it with the home doppler. I really like my OB. 1. She doesn't say a word about my weight. I'm having a hard time not obsessing about it and she flat doesn't mention it so she doesn't feed into it. But, I also know that if she were concerned she would definitely bring it up. 2. *TW* She's been so good through the loss and PGAL. When she was having trouble finding the heartbeat she pointed out when she heard kicks which was her amazing subtle way of saying that the baby is alive instead of leaving me to panic while she looked for HB.

@kiki75 my OB is the same way about my weight. The first thing my last doctor’s office would point out at every appointment is that my BMI equals overweight. Um, thanks?
@mdfarmchick I have an appointment with a nurse practitioner next time then will probably have to go back to the OB and then should be able to see the midwife from then on. Unless the OB decides to say I am too high risk because she says I have type 2 diabetes instead of GD(she says you can't have GD before 28 weeks although it was ok last time) then I will have to get back with the other OB and let him know what is happening. I really think she is trying to punishing me for trying to switch. He said he couldn't change me to him because I was already denied earlier on(Instead of saying he is friends with my husbands coworkers I said I didn't like her personality which was the wrong way to go) and he doesn't want to cause problems in the practice- which I get. If all this doesn't work I will switch practices or look into a homebirth with a midwife. I will figure out a way to leave a bad review. She is so bad that last time the midwife told me the terrible OB was on call that weekend and the midwife would be out of town so try not to have the baby until she got back on Monday.
I said I didn't like her personality which was the wrong way to go
This annoyed me so much for you. I'm sorry that it wasn't ok to have this reason. This is very invalidating which would be horrendous in a high stress situation like birth.
Plus one to the midwife homebirth
When we get later on down the road, I'm hoping to start/contribute to a homebirth thread. I'm finding it very difficult to get support around me and I could use it.

@kiki75 I’m so glad you went and got some peace of mind. That’s so important to have. @megpeg that’s so frustrating, I hope everything gets worked out for you.
@npkat I’m so excited for us!!!! I think there’s going to be a lot of new posts in the boy/girl thread soon. A lot of women in the Tuesday ticker change said their scans were coming up last week as well!!! I can’t wait for ALL of us to be last the half way mark!!!
Re: Weekly Appointments—10/16

Thursday is an elective 3D u/s which will be fun
