Did your water break at home?

My water broke on it’s own at home with both of my previous pregnancies. I’m hoping that means it’s likely it will again with this one since that means there is no turning back although I don’t think there is any correlation. I don’t even know how to time contractions honestly! What’s your experience?

I don't know when my water broke because I was only 8 weeks pregnant when I miscarried, but I lost my mucous plug 5 days before and had bad contractions 3 days before. I had the urge to push right after I felt the "lightning crotch" of dilation. I think the placenta was still attached to the baby. I tried to not look. It was traumatic and I hope everything is more clear this time so I can stay calm. *TW*

  • @NYTino24 so sorry to hear that, hoping for an easier time for you this time around
  • Mine broke while I was sleeping. I woke up and thought I had peed the bed until I realized I was still leaking. I only felt mild contractions (more like menstrual cramps) on the way to the hospital. We knew baby was breech so they did a quick us to confirm and immediately prepped me for a csection. I feel like a FTM now trying to learn what contractions and labor actually feel like.
  • Mine has never broken on its own... during 3 labors by my dr. and midwife.
  • The doctor broke mine when I was a few cm dilated. I still blame him for my labor going awry because I think it caused the baby's arm to move up towards her head, since she had her forearm up when they did the c-section, and I never progressed after he broke it. And I specifically told him NOT to break my water but he was like, op, just did it anyway, sorry. Still mad...

  • The doctor broke mine both times once I progressed further into labor.

  • The doctor had to break mine both times. DD1 I got stuck at 4cm with some really bad back labor so he broke it and it sped up labor very quickly. I went to OB triage on Sunday due to what I thought was my water breaking (I'm still not convinced it wasnt a leak) but I was able to get to 8cm and they broke my water. 30 minutes later she was born.
  • The attending Doc broke my water when I got to the hospital. I was dialated 2 cm at the time. I received my epidural within 10 minutes, and DS was born 4 hours later.
  • My water broke at home with both my girls. First one I felt a pop and huge gush. Second one no pop and didn’t realize it had broken until I went to use the restroom and the water kept going. It was definitely more like a slower leak the second time bc it did stop so I just went to hospital to check and once they put the instrument up there to test the fluid, it started to gush out. Gross lol
  • I was about 4cm and having contractions but they weren't painful(only saw them on the monitor) when my nurse said "if your water doesn't break the doctor will likely do it for you on your next check in a few minutes" then she walked away and with in 20 seconds my water broke on its own! It was pretty funny to us at the time. That's when labor got real serious and I instantly felt painful contractions after that!

  • See I had to get pitocin both times to get the contractions going after my water broke still both times! First one I woke up at 2am to pee and then when I stopped peeing more liquid continued to trickle out. Changed my clothes 3 times before I was sure it was broken water. Second baby I woke up at 7am to pee, when I wiped there was mucous plug and I woke up my boyfriend to tell him and he was kind of concerned and I was like no it’s not a big deal it could still be another week or two until the baby comes and then started leaking again and I was like ok maybe I was wrong lol but that time I knew I still needed to try to get my contractions going so I took the dog for a walk and stopped at target to pick up some last minute things and then went for one more short walk before heading for the hospital- could never really get the contractions going on my own for some reason
  • I just know my water is going to break in the middle of me teaching. I probably should have a change of clothes with me. Haha

  • I had just taken a shower and gone to the bathroom and was walking to my front door to check the mail when I heard a pop and felt a solid thud in my pelvis. I started leaking just a little bit, so I put on a new pad, but when it didn't stop leaking we went in. 22 hours and one c-section later DS1 was born.

  • My water was artificially broken both times, unsure if I want to do it this time. I'm still worried that my water is going to break on its own, worried because I'm 45 from the hospital and need the 2 rounds of antibiotics.

My water didn’t break until I was 10cm and ready to push. I was soaking in the labour tub at the hospital when I felt like I had to push, my body pushed and my water broke while in the tub. Convenient clean up lol

  • My water didn't break until after I had been in back labor for over 30 hours and right before the nurses were going to break it manually.
