2. How are you feeling? Great, although the constipation continues and I'm pretty exhausted by the end of the day.
3. Any appointments coming up? I had a midwife appt on Monday and got to hear the heartbeat, and this coming Wednesday I will get my NIPT results.
4. Rants, raves, questions?
Rave: We built a room addition on our house last year, but didn't have the money to finish it, so we've been living with the exposed insulation for a year. This week we got the drywall in! Next week we can paint and finally have a finished living room!
Question: anyone know anything about the safety of painting while pregnant? I'm the painter in the family, and what I've seen says basically that there aren't any studies showing one way or the other - one of those "it should be fine, but better safe than sorry" situations. I figured I could wear long sleeves and gloves and ensure really good ventilation and I'd be fine.
5. GTKY: What kind of music do you listen to? Has it changed over the past 15 years? When I was in HS and college I listened to basically just punk and metal (MH played in punk bands), with some 70s and 80s rock thrown in (read: Bowie). These days though we listen to almost everything - electronic/dance, country, folk, classic rock, 80s/90s pop, Irish/English folk, etc.

14 weeks, peach sized
2. How are you feeling?
So much better! I can stomach coffee again although not much at one time. Still tired and out of breath, but I expect that will be the new normal for a while.
3. Any appointments coming up?
Next week we meet with the doctor again, we found out its a healthy boy via the nurse phone call. I think we are just going over the results and making a plan.
4. Rants, raves, questions?
We are in the process of buying a house. I love it, but there is a balcony on the 2nd floor that overlooks the living room. Does anyone currently have kids with this kind of set-up? How did you prevent them from jumping over or throwing things off?
@hedgepig Painting should be fine as long as the room is ventilated. There's also some low-fume paint that should be fine too. Maybe paint a wall, take a break, wait for the fumes to dissipate and do another wall?
5. GTKY: What kind of music do you listen to? Has it changed over the past 15 years?
2. How are you feeling? Much better but still exhausted all the time.
3. Any appointments coming up? Not until 10/23. But I'm waiting for maternit21 results which should come any day.
4. Rants, raves, questions? Doctor's office is being super uncooperative about giving me my maternit21 results, and I'm super annoyed.
5. GTKY: What kind of music do you listen to? Has it changed over the past 15 years? Anything that isn't top40. I just can't take it anymore, it's so, so awful.
Baby #1 - DD 8/29/16
Baby #2 - EDD 4/6/18
13 weeks, size of a lemon
2. How are you feeling?
Great! Finally getting energy back a bit.
3. Any appointments coming up?
Had 12 week check up yesterday and we heard the heartbeat. Everything looks good! Going back in a month for another ultrasound.
4. Rants, raves, questions?
Rant: we are replacing hubbys car (it's a 2001 with over 100k miles, so it's time). I want to get a 2015 or 2016 model with a few thousand miles on it that will be significantly cheaper. DH (typical "car" guy) wants to get something brand new even though he acknowledges that it's not the smartest financial move for us and we could more easily afford a used vehicle. Oy!
Rave: I told two coworkers today and both were super excited for me and very helpful about how to navigate things with HR--one of them had her last kid while employed her so she knows the drill.
Rave 2.0: just found out this week that my BFF is expecting her first too! I'm elated! She will be on the June board though, Bless her heart
RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.
Badically my music taste in the late 90s/early 2000s was boy bands--the Backstreet Boys in particular
@ftm_ohio Wow, I'm lucky I am working in new construction and don't have to worry about lead. Be safe! And yes, the 15 year number was arbitrary and probably a little high, but, whatever
@sdavis2189 Isn't it weird how bad the current top 40 stuff is? I've never been a big fan, but even like 5 years ago it was pretty OK, and now it's really bad!
@mcg920 Yay for your BFF, that's so exciting for you both!
@saisongbird Sorry about the confusion with the contractors - that's a lot of money!

Happy painting!
@sarahkate2233 Congrats on finding out about the boy! I've never had a house with that kind of set up. How high is the balcony? I like @ftm_ohio 's idea. Are most of the public rooms downstairs and bedrooms upstairs?
@ftm_ohio congrats on super Panorama results and finding out about a boy. That's awesome. When you listen to the older music, do you cringe or still kind of like it secretly???
@sdavis2189 I'm so sorry about the delayed results. That has got to be so frustrating. Very much agree about top40 today. So much of it either sounds the same or like a bad joke...no thanks!
@mcg920 Congrats on hearing the heartbeat, that must have been so encouraging. So glad to hear you are getting great support at work AND your BF is going to be pregnant as well. I think that kind of support must be really helpful to have when pregnancy gets scary or weird...or both!
@saisongbird ohhh contactor woes. It just doesn't feel like it should be such a big swing. Do they have very detailed estimates on costs so you can get a sense where they're diverging. I know one contractor we had looked at for our pool had set aside way more labor costs and we ended up going with the slightly lower bid. Guess who was right about labor costs... oh brother! Hope you figure it out easily!
@hedgepig excited for your NIPT results, fingers crossed everything looks great. Take your time with the painting, but that is super exciting that you finally get to use that space. Not a moment too soon!
2. Pretty good most symptoms gone just really hungry and tired
3. Ultrasound with MFM October 20th because I have Cerebral
Palsy and am in a wheelchair. This is to decide vag vs. C-section
4. Just waiting for genetic blood test results is very nerve wracking!
5. I am a very nervous FTM who is just always holding my breath for the next appointment lol
Thanks for the feedback, but we'd still like to hear your answers, I have a tendency to be late a lot to these threads as well lol!
As for your question, I do occasionally listen to the old stuff and I still do like it haha! I actually was just listening to some Nine Inch Nails this weekend. Some of it does make me cringe like Slipknot, not sure how I understood anything they were screaming about!!
ok, sorry my answes! Every time I try too hard to be polite, I'm kind of rude!
1) 12 weeks, a plum
2) I am STARVING but the nausea has really started to pass. Yesterday was the first time I felt like myself when I exercised and could push a little harder again. In the morning, my tummy is still flat and in the evening, the bloat is quite remarkable.
3) Had my second OB appointment with my super doctor today. The baby looks great, everything is normal and fine, praise be.
4) Rave: I can't wait to tell my dad. For sure he is going to cry. No one wants this baby more than he does. We waited to tell him last bc he would not handle any kind of bad news well.
Rant: I'm feeling so much anxiety about telling my boss at work. I really need to tell them soon, it will make next year much smoother if I do. But I'm nervous to.
5) I listen to a real mix. I love movie scores for when I'm trying to do work or focus. I listen to hip hop before any of my competitions to get in a zone a bit. I like upbeat music for working out. 15 years ago I was listening to lots of top 40 music, which was all pretty terrible. But I still kind of like when I hear it today.
You should definitely film your dad, what a great memory to have down the line. I wish we had filmed MIL and FIL.
What kind of competing do you do??
So great to hear everything is well with baby!
@mcg920 I bet your husband loved that! We just had our first anniversary and we low-key just did cards haha. What a great wife you are!
Then he asked me when I was going to stop riding...
He's been telling my family the reason I haven't had a baby is bc I ride horses. So classic french dad theories! Other that that, super conversation! @mcg920 an autograph is pretty much the best paper anniversary idea I've heard yet, WELL DONE!
@ftm_ohio I do jumping competitions, where we have a set course of obstacles to complete in a certain time. It is SO much fun. I'm also super anxious about large groups of people. I hate festivals and any thing where there are great swaths of humanity. It's gotten worse as I've gotten older, I wonder if an old folks home is going to be too crowded for me when the time comes!
It's really cool that you do jumping. Do you do it locally or like professionally? I love horses, but have never really had much opportunity to pursue it, but a close family member does jumping and she was in her college equestrian club. I've always been jealous haha.
Has your OB advised you on how long they think you can safely ride??
My OB wants me to stay active and for now, doesn't see the need for any changes. I'm really careful about what horses I ride. Nothing unreliable or difficult. Many riders who don't physically show for while will stop jumping around 4 to 5 months but still keep riding, albeit carefully.I have friends who rode all 9 months. I'm not setting any plans, most of my rider mommas say they let their bodies tell them when to step down. But they all rave about the benefits especially from a fitness and back strength perspective. So I will just play it by ear and let the little guy tell me what's appropriate.
