Where do I find Doulas in training in Boston?

edited August 2016 in Boston Babies
I'm a first time mom located in the city of Boston and I'm due October 25th. Long story short, I'm interested in working with a doula in training who needs to attend births for certification. I've tried searching for local listings online and I emailed DONA.org for referrals, but I was curious if anyone knew of resources to connect with doulas in training in the Boston area. I appreciate any guidance!  :)

Long Story:
I have about 3 months to go now, and the birth of my little girl is becoming more of a reality as each day passes. I'm delivering at Beth Israel Deaconess with the midwifery services from Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates. I love their staff and I'm happy to be working with them, but lately I've felt myself struggling with the disconnect between what medical staff are trained to manage about pregnancy and the process of birth versus what I feel that I need emotionally and mentally to be prepared for the final leg of this pregnancy and birth.

My husband is a fourth year medical student and I feel like I can't trust him to stick with me and advocate for me and what I want during birth (granted it's medically feasible) since he can relate more to the clinical perspective of doctors and nurses. If the medical staff pushes for me to get an epidural and pitocin to speed things up and call it a day, I'm afraid I'll be pressured by them and my husband to get both of those things before I'm ready. Basically, I'm concerned that I'll be left feeling alone and discouraged if I don't have someone supportive who's totally on my side for the whole thing. Also - I'm imagining myself feeling infuriated by my husband scrolling through his phone and only being concerned with knowing what the vital stats are for me and baby.

ANYWAY! I've been considering hiring a doula, and I've read that doulas in training who need to attend births in order to get their certification can be very passionate and motivated to work with women so they can gain the experience they need. Since this will be a new experience for me and a relatively new experience for someone in training, I'm really interested in seeing what the dynamic would be like between us. I love planning and collaborating with people who have fresh perspectives, so it would be exciting to have that opportunity with someone who is new to their career.

I would also appreciate any experiences from others working with a doula in training!
