TTGP Grad Check In 10/6

Hey lets catch up!

Hey there TTGPers! How are things going? Let's do a casual check in, but if questions/structure help you, then here are the usual to use as guidelines:

How far along are you?

How are you feeling?

Any recent/upcoming appointments?

  • @mispanda I do think there is a core group of regulars forming at this point. Some post more often then others but I still recognize most people's names.

@lund So happy to hear your scan went well! Your seeing a regular OB now right?

    How far along are you?
    12+4
    How are you feeling?
I have good days and bad days. I was able to eat dinner last night which is a win when that happens! Otherwise  have noticed more dizziness and headache creeping in vs nausea.
    Any recent/upcoming appointments?
I had my second appointment yesterday for the most part went well. I wasn't expecting an u/s but the doctor did one which was really exciting. My little bean was moving around like crazy and had a nice strong heartbeat which is always reassuring. I also had all my blood work done and I thought there wasn't going to be any blood left! The lady had to re-stick me because my first vein just gave up at the end and decided it had enough. My arm is killing me now! I did end up deciding to have the NIPT done as well which is what I'm worrying about at the minuet. When talking to my doctor about the test she informed me that although the Trisomy 21 results are very accurate the other results are not as good... she said around 80% or even less for Trisomy 13. I was shocked by this because I hadn't come across it in my research. She also told me that if the results come back with any issues that she would be calling me and if they are negative a nurse would call. I kind of wish she hadn't told me that.
  • @lund the tiny mini bagels with cream cheese or peanut butter in the morning is great!  I get my bagel fix but it's the right amount.  If I had a regular sized bagel even if I was full I have a tendency of just eating it all and I always regret it.

@fishsticks-n-custard my OB told me I have about six more weeks of headaches and then they should start to subside.  I'm guessing around the 20 week mark is when pregnant women start to get some relief?  I use to go to a neurologist because I got migraines really bad.  I got pregnant with DD and they went away!  Fast forward to this pregnancy and they are back so I'd love relief at 20 weeks but I don't have high hopes right now.

@JJMNO1616 you're right.  I am starting to see some regulars.  At least there are a few names I'm starting to recognize.
  • @mispanda I'm actually happy for the distraction - as repetitive as it might be - simply because my last hour of work is dragging on for forever lol

Ladies with headaches: have you tried magnesium? I had some headaches for the last couple weeks, and I notice that magnesium really helps. I initially took it for constipation and just happened to discover that it seems to helps with headaches too.
  • @lund Magnesium really helps my headaches, but at the moment I can't tolerate my supplement without gagging. It's a good day when I can get the gummy vitamins down. But now that you mention it, the nausea has gotten better so maybe I'll start trying it again.

How are you feeling? I have a fucking cold!! Whyyyyy I was just starting to feel good! Every time I try and plan a date night something like this happens. Ugh

Any recent/upcoming appointments? Had one this week. Just the Doppler but it was nice to hear the hb still.  It was 150. Were not finding out so I keep teasing H it's a girl. Although my doc said it's all a bunch of crap anyway.

I hear you guys on the headaches. They come and go for me but won't go away without Tylenol. I also have only been doing yoga once a week and keep telling myself I'll up the frequency.
  • @saralee797-2 ugh, so sorry about the cold  :s  And, EVERYONE I talk to references the heart rate for sex predictions - even the people who know better. I'd also be lying if I didn't take a mental note of the heart rate at each appointment and not-so-secretly make predictions of my own  :D It's just fun to do!
  • @mispanda I agree with @JJMNO1616 that the regs are starting to be more apparent, but I haven't had time to post much anyways. I'm sorry you're still feeling so sick. Hugs  <3 Also, I'm so with you on the board organization thing. Ugh.
@lund I'm glad you've been posting more lately - you liven up the board :)
@fishsticks-n-custard Dang, you were a weightlifter!? That's intense! I'm sorry you're still feeling so bad. I hope it lets up soon!
@JJMNO1616 I'm glad you're starting to feel better! I agree, I recognize most names on here now, but I'm still working on personalities and such.
@kmalls I've been having a lot of headaches too, but not many that last longer than a day. That sucks! I hope that doesn't last long for you!
@saralee797-2 So sorry you're sick! There have been a bunch of illnesses going around school and I've been so worried that I'd catch one...
    ------
AFM, things are good, but kinda crazy. I'm pretty busy with work (teaching), plus packing orders for our small business. At the same time, we're finally (a year later) getting the drywall done in part of our house (goodbye exposed insulation!), plus building a laundry room and re-roofing our storage shed (laundry facilities were one of my pre-baby requirements). On top of all that, my sister has been in the hospital for over a week with a really bad breast infection, which has been super scary. All that to say, I haven't been posting as much as I'd like, but I have been reading and lovetitting!

How far along are you? 15w1d.

How are you feeling? Overall really good. Pretty exhausted. Also, my skin has been super itchy, but it's also been really low humidity here, so I'm sure that isn't helping.

Any recent/upcoming appointments? I had my first appt with one of the midwives last week - I got to hear the heartbeat, which was a huge relief, and went over personal/family history, did a physical, etc. All my first tri blood work came back good, and I got orders for second tri genetic screening and cystic fibrosis screening (for me). This week I go in to get my NIPT results.

  • All, I have been completely slacking on my bumping lately! I think this is the beginning of the end for me on TB. I did this last time too, I just start to fall away the farther I get into my pg. Once the PGAL brain calms down, regular appts get scheduled, I just don't have much to contribute. I still check in to this thread to see how you ladies are doing though! Sorry to hear about all the headaches, hopefully you all get relief soon! And glad to hear of all the good appts lately.

AFM, I'm 11+5 today. Feeling better lately. I have more of an appetite at dinner. I still crash at the end of the day but I think I have more energy during the day. And it's getting really hard to hide the bump anymore. I have to pick my clothes very strategically.

I have an u/s for the NT scan on Thursday. That'll probably be when we officially start telling more than immediate family and close friends. Excited to see the little one again.
  • @cards10 no! you can't leave us. you're one of the goodies!
@hedgepig oh my gosh, I'm so sorry to hear about your sister. That sounds quite serious and stressful. Praying she gets out of there quickly and is soon feeling some relief.
@saralee797-2 I have a cold too! I've had it for 10 days. That NEVER happens. It seriously needs to go away. I'm so sorry you're sick as well. I find myself looking up at the sky and being like "I'm pregnant, isn't that ENOUGH"??? Hope you can at least get some rest.
@fishsticks-n-custard whoa you did Olympic style lifting? That is so badass. And how cool that despite a break you're still in better shape than non pregnant women. Wow. I'm so sorry about the headaches. I don't know how people live with them regularly, I turn into a baby asshole when I have a headache.
@JJMNO1616 oh dear, I'm so sorry about the bloodwork drain, that sounds pretty intense. But so cool you got to hear a good heartbeat and see an active baby. I'm really excited about that moment.
@lund congrats on a good NT scan! And I am with you on all of the fats. I'm partial to all the nut butters, but I honestly can't get enough of any of it. Mostly, like kmalls, to try to prevent the carb bombs!
@kmalls Days of headaches??? with tiny children? I would be mainlining tylenol. It's for everyone's safety! I am so sorry you are fighting that.
@mispanda thank you for the check in, this is my favorite group. I'm still feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the threads and names and drive bys. but I'm definitely seeing a core group coalesce. And compared to June, well, nothing compares to june so I'll just be quiet. So glad you had a great appointment and everything looks good!

AFM, I'm 12+3 today. I've been sick for what feels like an eternity, and my nausea is definitely better but now I'm addicted to gin gins and since I discovered those late in the game, my brain associates them with nausea freedom instead of my looming second trimester. I'm tired most of the time, and I'm still pretty emotional. I would really like to be less emotional, is there a gin gin equivalent for that?

I'm seeing my lovely doctor tomorrow, and I frankly can't wait. DH is traveling so it will just be me and the doctor. DH is actually reading a men's guide to pregnancy. He actually seemed to realize finally that pregnancy is kind of stressful for a woman. But he said it solemnly, like he had discovered the cure for childhood cancer. I'm just grateful I kept a straight face...
I Love Kellie Pickler cmt i love kellie pickler kellie pickler poor thing GIF
  • @kmalls Idk how you stayed silent. I would have HAD to say something.
  • @JJMNO1616 it was painful, but it didn't seem worth getting into via text. She also said they're not really trying, so I'll save that conversation for when they're serious about it. Still sooooo frustrating though...

Unless she is actually KU.  :D Wouldn't that be a speshul snowflake.
  • Well she tested this morning and it was negative -- BUT since she really has no idea when she ovulated, it could still be too early.

Andplusalso: she says they only had sex once this month and he pulled out. Literally not enough eye rolls....

Oh em gee. I can't. So are they NPNT or just not trying but really bad at preventing?

  • OMG I cannot with this friend @kmalls but I fully expected to read on and see you say she was KU because that's how this cruel world works!
  • @kmalls whoa you are a saint. whoa. I always wonder what people are talking about that they just know without having experienced it before.. then again, maybe she was pregnant but it didn't implant like our friend from June.  >:)

I have a friend who is getting ready to TTC. They have legit reasons for a timeline (they're filming in the Caribbean and want to wait for the Zika risk to have cleared)... BUT she's sort of like oh I'll be right behind you don't worry!

And I want to say, babe, it could take a while!!! At least prepare for that possibility? Especially since they don't use birth control, they just use the old pull out method...and have been for 7 years without pregnancy and they have a very healthy sex life. I just don't think that's a great sign! I bought her TCOYF and a thermometer and made her promise she would start temping to learn her cycle better.
  • @stalkinghorse Such a thoughtful gift! I think my SIL is trying soon and I told her to get TCOYF, download FF and ask me anything!
@JJMNO1616 CONGRATS on your sweet baby girl!!
  • @JJMNO1616 That's awesome news!! Congrats!! (We still need to get together for coffee since I suggested that BEFORE the hurricane...)

@kmalls I would have lost my shit on that friend. You are a saint.

I know you guys will feel me on this, I recently had to go into great detail at work about blue dye tests vs pink dye tests and what an evap line was and how that was not a positive test. My (male) nurses said, "Wow,  you learn a lot of random useful information in residency." And I replied, "No that's info I learned being a woman that's had to pee on pregnancy tests before." They got all awkward and walked away. I feel like I'm getting a call from HR soon.

  • @fishsticks-n-custard oh man, all of the feels. I thought your response was very even-handed! I would have started me response with "no dipsh!t, ....". I work almost exclusively with guys. I am dreading telling them I'm pregnant bc they are already so awkward about my being a girl. I will violate all of our HR policy book by this pregnancy's end.
  • @lund my actual response was "yeah it's such a mindfuck, pregnancy symptoms and PMS are exactly the same."

...that was at 7:30 this morning, and still no response :D
  • @kmalls perfect!!!
Ugh, I'm not sure stuff like that will ever stop bothering me. Logically I know that people who don't struggle to get KU and hardly have to think about it certainly aren't bad people. And why the heck would they research the crap out if it if it hasn't ever been an issue for them (or if they haven't really started trying)? But, alas, I want to strangle every single one of them.
  • @fishsticks-n-custard Yes! I would love that. Whenever works for you. I have no life outside work lol!
  • @fishsticks-n-custard your response was perfect!  If that made them awkward I can't imagine how they get through their shift. I'm sure they run into actual awkward things with patients all the time.
