April 2018 Moms

Any Jewish mamas?

Anyone else here Jewish? I'm having a name issue and was hoping to limit it to one thread with people who understand the culture and traditions rather than put it in the randoms or questions thread.

RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.

Re: Any Jewish mamas?

  • Fellow Jew here! We are not real religious but i am familiar with some of the customs

  • So my grandmother is in her 90s, but the women on that side of my family tend to live to be over 100 (great grandmas and great great aunt all made it to 101+). There is a possibility that this baby is the last of this generation (one cousin has 3 kids already but is hassidic so may or may not be done, other cousin is 27 and broke off a 6 year relationship that was an engagement). We have a name we love that uses her fist initial, but it's a bit weird to go against tradition.

Is it weird to break tradition that way?
