  • There was a gem of a “just you wait” comment on the UO in June 18 today.

@bjkay22 everyone is different. For us, our dogs have taken much more of a back seat since DS came along, but that’s us. Every family is different and just because one person has had an experience doesn’t mean that’s how it will be for everyone.
  • @mommabmb have you been tested for parasites?

  • @bjkay22 that is really annoying to hear from people.  I always hated when people told me I would hate cloth diapering (full disclosure I am no longer cloth diapering but I like to think that if I was home full time I would've kept up with it!)

For me, I now think my dogs are a hassle lol I love them and my daughter loves them but I spend most of the time thinking about what it would be like with no dog hair all over the house and to not have them bark at the mailman during nap time.  But of course your mileage may vary!!
  • I was a total dog person before ds. We had 2 gsds, one passed away and we ended up with a newf. They were my babies. When ds came along I honestly didn't have the bandwidth to shower them with the same attention. Still don't, and I feel bad, they are still part of the family. Now that DS is a little older we are trying to get more in the habit of going for family walks with both dogs. It's a lot trying to walk them and push a stroller solo so I only do that when I'm feeling adventurous. Otherwise we have to plan our walks when SO is able to help.  Sometimes when ds has gone to bed I will take them out for a night jog too. But that's been pretty rare lately since I'm so tired now.
  • Btw @mileswithmyles the whole June UO board was interesting and nuts today but the just wait comment was definitely the shining moment of drama for me. I’m honestly surprised she didn’t get more heat for it.
  • @bjkay22 right? And she’s still going!  I’ve been like this on it this afternoon:

  • I know omg. It’s better than Thursday night Shonda Shows!! @mileswithmyles

This is pure gold and I am only on page 1! I haven't even gotten to "just you wait" Just listening to the sexist chick talk about how she would never let a man care for her child.

ETA: to add, that was so great. but, also infuriating. Bravo @doxiemoxie212

I have. Actually was back at the doc twice this week. Even treated for scabies "just in case" for all 6 of us... TWICE (about a month ago). It's some kind of reaction they just can't figure out what's causing it. The most recent thought is a gluten sensitivity... waiting on more labs.
    Married DH <3 : 7/7/12; 3 fur babies (2 dogs and 1 cat)
DS born 9/3/13; DD born 7/22/15; LO due 5/28/18
FS (age 5) and FD (age 2) to become AS/AD very soon!

  • *sigh* well that sucks.  Good luck  :/:/:/

  • @bjkay22 FWIW I was the same about my dog prior to having my first. She was my baby. When I got home from the hospital with DD I cried whenever I LOOKED at our dog bc I knew I would be spending less time in general doting on her. In the end my dog is still just as loved and spoiled as she was 3 years ago but we take less walks and play less fetch. We got a second dog to help keep each other entertained. We travel with our dogs everywhere too and I hope that doesn't change after our second is born; however our car space is getting limited with 2 car seats and 2 50lb mutts.
  • Having a baby didn't change my relationship with my dog. I don't know, I'm an animal lover I guess! I've found that all the "just you wait" comments were so annoying. It's like people are trying to deflate your happiness or something. I'm having my 5th kid, so people don't pull that BS with me anymore. Now everyone thinks I'm an expert, and I feel like I know nothing. Go figure!
  • I am a school librarian.

I had an 8th grade student come in today and say "I'm wanting to check out a book. But I don't know the title or anything about it. It might have a blue or white cover."

    Uhhhhhhhhhhhh I ain't a mind reader, kid.
You actually go  the "I don't remember, but it's blue" question?  Wow!  The vaguest I've ever gotten was "I read it about 2 years ago, I think."
