FFFC - 10/6

Re: FFFC - 10/6

  • It's funny, everyone has their own brand of healthy eating - for my family growing up, that was no sugary cereal, lots and lots of fruits and vegetables (including one serving of a green vegetable before we even sat down to dinner), only whole grain breads/rice/pasta and very limited snack food. However, we did get a small dessert if we ate a good meal and once a week we ordered pizza for movie night.

I did go through a period where I "rebelled" - lots of white bread and junk food - but came to my own conclusions about why the way my family grew up eating makes sense and now I follow a very similar model with my own family. All that to say, my older kids do get candy, but only if they eat the majority of the healthy food prepared for them.

  • @MrsF1017 I am right there with you, but opposite. 2 girls and have previously decided 3 kids no matter the gender. It is ok and good to feel the emotions. I wanted a Home Improvement family. 3 boys. I thought my first was a boy for sure. When I found out it was a girl I was sad. I cried a little. It took a day or two and I felt better and excited. You need to feel what you are going through. I don't know what I am having, but am thinking this one may be a girl too.

@thisgirlagain I really don't mind having boys of course. We are a big sports family and I love watching my oldest play ball. And little boys are tons of fun. I'm not really sad that I'm having another boy just sad that I'll never have a girl. My mother and I gave such a good relationship and I always looked forward to that mother/daughter bond. Plus I've always imagined what being Mother of the Bride would be like. Guess I'll just have to wait for my son's to give me (hopefully) awesome daughter in laws.
  • I just wanted to chime in and say I let DS have candy and he won't eat it. He will not eat any kind of cake, most candy, and I can usually only give him one lick of ice cream.

I was allowed to have candy in moderation and never had a cavity until I got pregnant.
