DH and I are way into LOTR. Like, we watch them all the time, know all the lines, and have watched the extended behind the scenes and commentary(on the extended movies) multiple times. We're both obsessed. We also play Lego video games together.
DH is a lawyer, and he gets waaaay too excited when talking about his job and tedious law stuff. He can literally talk about it enthusiastically for hours.
We are both really into Harry Potter and he will use spells in everyday conversation. He's the best.
DH and I "sealed the deal" when we were dating and got serious when we both found out we each play MTG, and we still do. He put two decks in his hospital bag when I had DD. I suspect he'll probably bring cards again this time
DH is a systems analyst. He loves his job and loves talking about it to me. Unfortunately for me he might as well be speaking Chinese for as much as I understand what he is talking about.
Total nerd. Mostly computer games, he has a crazy number of hours sunk into games like Skyrim, Mass Effect, Starcraft... and his 'internet people' are all from Call of Duty game chat. But he's also got Futurama and Star Trek Voyager 99% memorized.
Everyone calls my husband Steve Urkel. When our niece was born, he was at the hospital with my family (also meeting them all for the first time - poor guy) for 26 hours in 30 degree weather. Everyone kept pointing out how nerdy he looked because he was wear a t-shirt tucked into basket ball shorts and calf high socks. I never even noticed.
But he's a nerd over Hercule Poirot. We both love the movies and he grew up reading the books but he will pause the movie like every five minutes to discuss his theories on who the murderer is. And ask me which character is which.
Ohhh, LOTR!!! I love love love those movies. I know all the characters and the lines. DH watched them for the first time like four months ago but I've seen them too many times to count. I might just put one in while I do laundry today...
My FI is totally into radios and frequencies and things like that, which I just don’t get lol. He also does multi-million dollar testing for the government and for the little he’s allowed to tell me, it is foreign haha.
DH has a weekly get-together with some of his friends from college to do role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons and whatnot. This has been going on for 20+ years. It's a thing. Lol.
Separately, he and I are geeks about our own things. Besides gaming, DH is an avid sports fan (Major League Baseball, college football and basketball). Meanwhile, I'm obsessed with musical theater.
Together, though, we're both movie nuts. I think I've mentioned that we had a movie-themed wedding. We quote movies all the time, love going to the movie theater, and we have an extensive DVD collection. When we first started dating, DH told his friends he knew I was "The One" because I owned a copy of Army of Darkness.
DH was a software developer. He is a director now but still thoroughly enjoys coding and reading everything he can in his spare time about it. He also likes to wear tall, crazy socks with his underwear around the house. Cracks me up.
DH likes Pokémon and Dragon Ball Z. He has made step-son a huge fan and I’m praying to all that is holy that DS is like me and does not like it like them. I know. I’m the worst. But I totally make fun of them because I’m a mean girl. But I just can’t. Also, DH got to pick DS Halloween costume, last year was mine and he was so adorable and Carl from Up!, this year he is some guy from DBZ, and the fact that I just used the appropriate abbreviation for that saddens me.
@supercoolstephy He is adorable and you totally rocked his outfit last year! So cute! And look how big he got in one year. Looking back at pictures of my kids gives me all the feels!
@supercoolstephy oh my goodness, my husband is the same. He grew up watching dragonball z. I grew up watching it because of my sister but I would have gladly taken the tv outside into the snow if we didn't have to watch that anymore. But the Carl costume!!!! Ohh, so cute!
DH is a car nerd, especially Toyotas (he drives a Tundra, and I drive a 4Runner). He spends HOURS on YouTube watching videos on new Toyota releases, reviews, and so on. He doesn't have an Instagram, but I downloaded the app of his phone and signed into my account so that he could see all of our nieces and nephews. Does he use it to keep up on family members? No. He started following a ton of "off-roaring" Toyota accounts. So now I get to skip over a ton of truck pictures in my feed to get to the good stuff!
DH is a huge Dr. Who fan and has watched the entire series several times (including the original series), reads novels, listens to audio tapes, etc. It is pretty comical how devoted he is to the series. I like it but by no means have his level of dedication.
@missblaze MH would wholeheartedly approve of that guest room! We don't have any spare rooms in our house, so that will probably never happen... unless he converts baby into a Whovian and then all bets are off lol!

But his favorite shows on TV are things like Face Off (movie makeup competition) and Brain Games (about the science of how people think) and Jeopardy.
DS2: Jan. 2016
DS3: Dec. 2017
Baby #4 on the way!

Also, last years because it was so freaking cute.
