Re: Wednesday ticker change - 10/4

  • Good morning ladies!! Woohoo to another week!

    1) How far along are you? How big is baby? 29 weeks - she's the size of a babie convertible toy car

    2) How are you feeling? I am feeling awesome this week, aside from the fact that I snissed this morning standing in the kitchen.

    3) How are your preparations coming along (nursery, classes, hospital bag, etc.)?
I won't be packing a hospital bag until closer to the end. I'm a minimalist so I'll be utilizing most of what I'd like to pack until then. No classes or hospital tours - it would feel like deja vu since we just did that less than 2 years ago. Annndddd no nursery since baby girl with be bunking with us for a while as we intend to list our house this spring. Second child probz.

    4) Any appointments this week/last? I had my one hour last week which I failed. Need to make some time for the 3 hour here pretty soon. Crazy that appointments are every two weeks now. I know I say this every check in, but this is just flying by. My doctor even made a comment at my appointment last Wednesday about how she can't believe I'm in the third tri already.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? Nothing this week!

    6) GTKY:
Share your guilty pleasure songs from your younger days! The songs you would wait to hear on the radio so you could tape it. The songs for which you would buy a whole CD only to listen to one track over and over again. I am 30, so my prime younger music days would consist of the late 90's and early aughts. AKA the boyband era lol. I am an unapologetic Spice Girl fan. Still. I know every word to every NSync song. No Doubt Magic Kingdom was in my boom box for a solid year straight after my friend's big sister burned me a copy a few years after it came out. I still have it, although I mostly listen to it on Spotify now. I also went through a Punk Rock Princess phase (thank you Something Corporate) and went to concerts all the time. I was way too young to be doing that shit and when I look back on it I question my mother's parenting lol I was a good girl in that I got good grades but other than that, I was basically allowed to do what I want and going to concerts as a 16 year old was a huge part of that.

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby? 29 weeks--which means 10 weeks to go (c-section scheduled at 39 weeks). I can't believe it.

    2) How are you feeling? Physically, feeling pretty good, though I've had a little hip/pelvic pain this week (wearing my support band today to help) and more round ligament pain. Emotionally, not great. One of our neighbors was killed in a car accident with his wife, kids, and dog in the car. The dog also died. The wife is probably my best neighborhood friend, and it just kills me. Their kids are in 2nd and 3rd grade. The accident happened last Friday and the funeral is this Friday. With the Las Vegas massacre and the ongoing issues from the hurricanes on top of this, my heart just hurts and I feel worn out.

    3) How are your preparations coming along (nursery, classes, hospital bag, etc.)?
DH and I cleaned up the nursery a bit last weekend, but we still need to order the crib, finish the dresser/changing table (DH is stripping a piece we bought on Craigslist and painting it white to match the other furniture), affix the bookshelves to the wall, frame and hang some art, build a storage cube thing from Target, and I need to finish knitting the baby blanket and sewing another one. We're not taking any classes this time, but I do need to pack my bag at some point. Lots to do in 10 weeks!

    4) Any appointments this week/last? Last week, passed my GD test, got my rho gam, TDAP, and flu shot (so fun), scheduled the c-section for Dec 14 officially, and I'll be back at the doc next week--2 week appts from here on!

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? DH and I have a date night planned tonight, with a babysitter coming to watch DD. We've been pretty good about doing this for the past few months trying to get some alone time before baby #2 comes. We've also tried out datebox, which lets you have a date night in--we do it after DD is asleep. I think the full price for the whole box is a little expensive, but they now have a digital option where they send you recipes, a playlist, and activities via .pdf, so we're trying that. It's been fun. https://datebox.me/geQTk

    6) GTKY:
Share your guilty pleasure songs from your younger days! The songs you would wait to hear on the radio so you could tape it. The songs for which you would buy a whole CD only to listen to one track over and over again. I was very into Matchbox 20 back in the day, and then eventually Maroon 5. Also, Britney's Toxic was my jam.

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby? 31 weeks - only 8 weeks until scheduled c/s and 6 weeks until I had my youngest DD. Whoa. 2) How are you feeling? Pain. Pain everywhere. I feel like my body is breaking. Trying not to complain, but omg so much more pain this time around. 3) How are your preparations coming along (nursery, classes, hospital bag, etc.)? Nursery is almost done, the dresser arrived on Monday, now just doing some final decor. I absolutely love the room, it's small but perfect. My hospital bag is half packed, I just need to add clothes but I will do that only if I start having contractions or my water breaks. I won't pre-pack those things. The baby's bag is all packed. 4) Any appointments this week/last? Appt yesterday - everything looks good. No more progress on the PTL scare from last week. I'm pretty much back to normal, just taking it easy as much as possible. 5) Rants/Raves/Questions? I really want to schedule my c/s. But my OB's office doesn't have the December schedule yet because they are fighting over who will work the holidays - something my OB actually told me yesterday. Like, figure it the F out, I want to get this thing scheduled. 6) GTKY: Share your guilty pleasure songs from your younger days! The songs you would wait to hear on the radio so you could tape it. The songs for which you would buy a whole CD only to listen to one track over and over again. Hmm - I loved Debbie Gibson, Only in My Dreams. I also loved Paula Abdul. And all old school Madonna.

30 weeks! zuchinni or 1/2 a cheesecake? Some of these comparisons are ridiculous haha

    2) How are you feeling?
Pretty good! Sleeping officially requires 5 pillows these days haha but it's happening so that's good. Baby's kicks are getting more and more uncomfortable, I don't remember them being this uncomfortable this early with DS! I'm trying not get myself down about weight gain. I am SO good about motivating others to not care about it, but for myself, I can't help but worry. I know I should just get rid of my scale, but I just can't. I've gained 7 lbs since my last midwife appointment 3 weeks ago and I can't help but feel like that's too much. I KNOW I've been eating too many sweets and treats, but they are just SO good. Ugh. I know what I need to do, but I just don't want to do it.

    3) How are your preparations coming along (nursery, classes, hospital bag, etc.)?
Crib arrived last week, but it's still half in the box and unassembled in the spare room. I am about 1/2 way through my online birth prep course, which is good. I talked to DH about hiring a doula, and he said 'well that's stupid, you have a midwife'. I just don't think he understands the concept. I am most concerned since he is refusing to make any back up plans for what to do with DS in case of emergency that I want to have someone who can stay with ME if something happens and he needs to stay with him... It's all making me very anxious. And he's been working non-stop so we haven't really had time to sit down and talk it all out.

    4) Any appointments this week/last?
    Midwife appointment this morning!

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
We talked to my ILs last night and decided on a rough timeline for their visit which is exciting! They are thinking ~Dec 9 until Dec 26 (due date is the 13th). Ideally, they'd be here for the birth so they can watch DS if needed, but it's so hard when you're planning on a natural birth! I am also excited they will be here for Christmas so they can kind of handle the craziness and I can just rest.

  • @flowerpower5838 - I fully support all your music choices. I'm 31, and that sound just like my teenage-years. Concerts on concerts on concerts! Something Corporate, Saves the Day, Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, No Doubt, Blink 182 etc. etc. etc. I was in the front row on the floor at a New Found Glory concert the night before my SATs and my dad was picking my friend and I up promptly at 11 "whether the show was over or not." I had to have the security guard lift me over the barrier so I could leave and in the process lost my Adidas sandal (because that's appropriate footwear!?!?) and was standing in front of the venue on a fall evening in Worcester, MA with only one shoe. #memories

    1) How far along are you? How big is baby? 28 weeks - eggplant.

    2) How are you feeling? Pretty good, starting to feel big, and I've still got nearly 3 months to go.

    3) How are your preparations coming along (nursery, classes, hospital bag, etc.)?
We will go on a tour in a few weeks, as this is a different hospital than my previous deliveries, and at some point when December rolls around I'll think about packing a bag.

    4) Any appointments this week/last? Just had my glucose test this morning. They also tested my thyroid. Here's hoping I don't hear from anyone on anything. No news is good news!

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? Rave! Diono carseats on Zulily yesterday, and I had a 20% coupon, so the seat I needed for my son so I could fit three across in my car I was able to snag for $185 instead of $299!

Share your guilty pleasure songs from your younger days! The songs you would wait to hear on the radio so you could tape it. The songs for which you would buy a whole CD only to listen to one track over and over again. For me it's all the old punk rock bands that I still turn on every now and then for nostalgia (thanks in large part to Apple Music since my college ipod and laptop have long since died). But I think my all-time favorite, or at least the band I liked the most (and still like), for the longest amount of time is Blink 182. All the posters, t-shirts and concerts I could get my hands on.

  • @flowerpower5838 something corporate was everything!
@cait5413 so sorry about your neighbors, that's heartbreaking
@disneyfan0511 sorry you're in so much pain! Hope you feel better soon

    1) How far along are you
? How big is baby? 31 weeks, a pineapple or asparagus

    2) How are you feeling? Feeling good except for bouts of puffiness. My face looks very chubby and I'm just trying to stay hydrated and keep away from too much sodium.

    3) How are your preparations coming along (nursery, classes, hospital bag, etc.)?
We're okay. Nursery is coming along... all the furniture is at least in there and set up, but we have no "stuff" yet like a mattress or blankets or clothes or diapers and that sort of thing. Shower is another month away. I have a hospital bag checklist made but won't really start packing until another month or so. Not doing any classes but I would like to try to educate myself a little on breastfeeding. My OB recommended checking out the La Leche League website.

    4) Any appointments this week/last? Had a check-in yesterday and all looked good. Because I failed my 1 hr glucose (but passed the 3 hr), we are doing a growth ultrasound in 2 weeks just to make sure all is good.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? Guys... I can't believe how fast our due dates are approaching.

The songs for which you would buy a whole CD only to listen to one track over and over again. God, I had so many. MmmBop, Hit Me Baby One More Time, Tubthumping, My Heart Will Go On, and all the boyband stuff (but especially 98 degrees and Backstreet Boys)

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
I am losing track of the weeks! I have one app that says 29 and another that says 28.. I guess 28. Eggplant

    2) How are you feeling?
My back is killing me!! It hurts some days to even stand up and walk. I saw a pelvic floor physio this week and it was absolutely amazing!
Baby's kicks are definitely getting stronger, I'm sure I felt the outline of a foot this week pressing into my stomach!

    3) How are your preparations coming along (nursery, classes, hospital bag, etc.)?
I haven't even started the hospital bag. I did buy a housecoat/sweater from Thyme for the hospital, I'm excited about that!

I need to finish painting the murals in the baby's room before I move any furniture in, but we have it all. We picked up the dresser and change table last night! I just want a new mattress - I don't want to use the one my SIL gave me as it's torn and I'm a germa-phob haha! And I need a baby monitor.

I took a class a couple weeks ago. It was okay. We learned about how to use a stability ball during labour. That was the coolest part of the class.

    4) Any appointments this week/last?
I have an appointment in an hour! Hoping I don't have GD. I did the 2 hour test this past Saturday as I failed the 1 hour. I'm not sure why, but in Canada, we only have a 2 hour and not a 3 hour follow up test.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
My dad mentioned last night that he and my mom kept a few cloth diapers around just in case they ran out of disposable diapers. I didn't think that was a terrible idea.

    Microsoft Word Track Changes.. ughhhhh!

    6) GTKY:
Share your guilty pleasure songs from your younger days! The songs you would wait to hear on the radio so you could tape it. The songs for which you would buy a whole CD only to listen to one track over and over again.
I'm not sure if I had any guilty pleasure songs.. I'd say more recently, in the past Miley Cyrus.
I used to tape grunge music off the radio.

@failuretofly I have a doula! My husband calls her a "rent-a-mom".. I'm really hoping she'll be helpful. So far I haven't had many questions so I don't feel I've gotten a lot of value from her.. She was formerly a naturopathic doctor, so I asked her if I was safe taking a protein powder and she said I was. I feel confident in her ability to read the label! haha! I'm just not sure I could tolerate relying solely on my mom.... it's been a while and some of the stuff, like what a swaddle blanket is and is used for, my mom had no idea (not that I need a doula for a blanket question, but that shows the level of knowledge my mom has).
I'm panicking that I'll forget to call the doula or I'll go into labour super early and she won't be available haha.. so much to worry about.
  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
29 weeks. Pineapple.. how can that be?!? Lol
    2) How are you feeling?
Great. Some tenderness in my lower abs
    3) How are your preparations coming along (nursery, classes, hospital bag, etc.)?
Nursery: good, just need glider, hamper, and to decorate.
Classes: taking a breastfeeding class tonight
    bag: haven’t started
    4) Any appointments this week/last?
Nope- but got call that I passed 1hr test- but that I’m borderline anemic.
    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Rave- almost have all my dance class subs figured out for when I go on leave!
    6) GTKY:
Share your guilty pleasure songs from your younger days! The songs you would wait to hear on the radio so you could tape it. The songs for which you would buy a whole CD only to listen to one track over and over again

hmmm Spice Girls and *NSYNC lol
  • Aaaah the late 90's. Such good times. You were definitely supposed to be Team Nsync or Team Backstreet Boys and you couldn't cross over. The same guy owned both of them! I feel so gypped (sp?).

    1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
31 weeks, bunch of asparagus, which is smaller than a pineapple!

    2) How are you feeling?
I can't wait to blow my nose without blood coming out, but no pain like others here :/

    3) How are your preparations coming along (nursery, classes, hospital bag, etc.)?
I'm filling out our pre-registration packet for the hospital and it seems too real.

    4) Any appointments this week/last?
Just got back from one. Passed my glucose test and no anemia issues.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Rave - DH put on a Paula Dean style cooking show in our kitchen last night, complete with southern accent. I could not stop laughing.

    6) GTKY:
Share your guilty pleasure songs from your younger days! The songs you would wait to hear on the radio so you could tape it. The songs for which you would buy a whole CD only to listen to one track over and over again.
Too many to pick honestly. I think the first CD I bought was Britney's Baby One More Time.

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby?  I'm 31 weeks.  Baby is measuring about 33 weeks.  I can tell, everytime he rolls around it hurts!

    2) How are you feeling?
tired.  tummy is tight a lot but mostly just uncomfortable.

    3) How are your preparations coming along (nursery, classes, hospital bag, etc.)?
slowly.  We aren't doing classes this time.  I started my hospital bag list but that's all for that.  The nursery is half empty.  And then we need to scrub it.  I am not excited about the scrubbing.

    4) Any appointments this week/last? Did a stress test today because of my tummy tightening and back cramps.  Apparently it may just be like this from now until the baby comes.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?  My daughter's birthday is Sunday.  I am in no way ready.  I feel like a bad mom.  A super tired bad mom.

    6) GTKY:
Share your guilty pleasure songs from your younger days! The songs you would wait to hear on the radio so you could tape it. The songs for which you would buy a whole CD only to listen to one track over and over again.  All things NKOTB.

  • I passed my diabetes test!!
But Resident doctors drive me nuts.
  • @flowerpower5838 sorry to hear about your GD test! Hopefully the 3 hour goes well. I definitely had the spice girls CD and knew all of the words.

@peachy13 La Leche League is a great resource, as is Kellymom. The LLL book, The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding (hate the title) is a really helpful resource. I was into 98 degrees--I think Nick Lachey may have been my fave boy band guy--though I liked Nick Carter, too.

And thanks @peachy13 - trying not to be a whiner, but everything hurts all the time. Maybe bc I'm old bones!
