Girl first and middle names

I was due last week, so naturally I'm super nervous about my baby girl's name.  I have posted on the names board, but am looking for more feedback.

It's between Julia or Juliet, last name starts with a U and is 3 sylables as well.

Middle name options:

Nancy - my Mom's first name

Erin - my middle name

Jane - a name we like and happens to be my grandma on my Dad's side middle name.

Elizabeth - my Mom's middle and her Mom's first name.  My niece's middle name too though, so I'm really not for this one.

Do my middle names have to be be after a family member?  How much meaning should they have?

Re: Girl first and middle names

  • Honestly, I have found everyone has a different opinion on whether a middle name should be after a relative or not. My son's middle name is Lucas, after George Lucas coz we live Star Wars...

We are still trying to figure out a middle name for our new baby... we are trying to create something that is a combination of our father's first or middle name.

    Julia Jane
    Julia Erin
    Juliet Nancy
    Juliette Erin

  • Lurking from September '17. I like Julia Erin or Julia Elizabeth best out of your choices. As an English teacher, I can't see past Romeo and Juliet, and Juliet happens to be one of my least favorite Shakespeare characters. But, I'm aware that is my own personal bias.

I do like the family connection of the middle name, but each to her own. In my case, I also gave my daughter my middle name. I gave up my maiden name when I married, but it was important to me to still pass down a name to her.

You'll make the choice that is best suites to you and your daughter.
  • Thank you all for your replies.  I was told to also pay attention to initials.  Are any of these poor initials?

  • I wouldn't think that initials would matter too much as long as they don't spell out anything obviously crude. My initials and my daughter's initials are LED which is kind of funny but no one other than my computer engineer husband has noticed. Our son is TRD, and we lovingly call him a turd upon occasion based on this ( and obnoxious three year old behavior) , but again no one outside has even noticed. I think your daughter's are fine.
