Re: monday ticker change!

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby? 28 weeks, hello 3rd tri! echidnoa

    2) How are you feeling? overall not too bad, sore hips and back but nothing too bad

    3) Are you having/have you had a shower or sprinkle?
    not that I know of.

    4) Any appointments this week/last? I had an OB appointment today and got the go for a VBAC! also had a MW appointment, all is measuring on track, got my flu and TDAP vaccines and passed my GD test. Overall a good morning.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? Plently of raves above. My rant are people who comment on how large pregnant ladies are. I think if one more person tells me I'm ready to pop or i'm huge I will TP them.

    6) GTKY:
Share three fall favorites in no particular order.  (And if you hate fall or autumn just isn't your season, share three gripes!) the sound of leaves crunching under your feet. pumpkin pie/bread/sauce, bundled up and going for a walk on a crisp but sunny fall day.

    @lavashiner Awww, love the Marge/Homer gif <3

@wabash15 Congrats on the VBAC green-light! And I'm also very tired of getting comments about my belly size... I sincerely don't think I'm any larger than normal, but people love to tell me I am.

    1) How far along are you
    ? How big is baby?
31 weeks, baby is as big as... asparagus, Romaine lettuce, a large movie theater popcorn, or an 11-lb jar of Nutella (??!)

    2) How are you feeling?
Feeling a little blah today. I'm tired, my belly feels extra cramped and heavy, and I was nervous earlier because baby wasn't moving around much, but once I started leaning on my belly during my kick count his movements picked up and now he's kicking away. I think he was also tired from my shit sleep last night.

    3) Are you having/have you had a shower or sprinkle?
No family shower happening, holding out hope for a work one.

    4) Any appointments this week/last?
I have a check-in late Wednesday afternoon, hopefully short & sweet

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
General rant about sleep being my least favorite thing these days. I wake up about 50 times during the night with aching ears & hips because I'm not used to being a side-sleeper, I always have to pee (pre-pregnancy I never get up during the night), and my dreams have been terrible. Blaaah.

    6) GTKY:
Share three fall favorites in no particular order.  (And if you hate fall or autumn just isn't your season, share three gripes!)
    1. Pumpkin flavored everything (especially [decaf] Dunks coffee)
    2. Sweater/decorative scarf/boots weather
    3. Horror movie marathons on TV & more horror flicks being released in theaters (I'm a total horror junkie)

  • @wabash15 and @djd0404  I was at Home Depot on Friday getting some paint for the nursery, the guy helping my was like "how far along are you?", and when I told him he said "ah, you must be having twins then."  Um no I'm not but thanks for telling me my stomach is huge.

    1) How far along are you
? How big is baby? 29 weeks, a care bear

    2) How are you feeling? feeling pretty good actually. Getting out and walking every night has actually helped my joints feel better and I feel like I have more energy now that my midwife put me on an iron supplement.

    3) Are you having/have you had a shower or sprinkle?
had one last month with the in-laws, and one with my side of the family on Sunday.

    4) Any appointments this week/last? yes plenty. I had a midwife appointment and NST last week, and a NST on Tuesday and Friday this week. I have 4 appointments next week too. This will be par for the course the rest of my pregnancy so I guess I should just get used to it.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? I hate shaving now. But I'm a no hair kinda gal, is waxing safe? I feel like I should know this by now haha

    6) GTKY:
Share three fall favorites in no particular order.  (And if you hate fall or autumn just isn't your season, share three gripes!) better weather, cinnamon, cider, apples, pies, Halloween, thanksgiving, Christmas shopping
  • 1. How far along are you? How big is baby? 31 weeks, Asparagus

    2) How are you feeling? I am exhausted and overly emotional. I started WWIII with my husband when he got home from camping this weekend. I'm over his summer activities and ready for him to be home all the time prepping for this baby. I also told my dad off because he was being an A-hole. Apparently I'm just not in the mood, especially for men this weekend.

    3) Are you having/have you had a shower or sprinkle?
yeah a shower Nov 4th. I'm also not in the mood for this. My mom ended up taking it over for the most part because my sister flaked. It just feels like more of a hassle at this point. This is the reason I flipped on my dad. He hates my mom and blames our lack of relationship when I was growing up, in reality he's an alcoholic and never around, anyway his gf asked me if my mom was okay with her coming bc my dad didn't think so. So I tore him a new one for making his gf uncomfortable and for throwing my mom under the bus. Sigh..

    4) Any appointments this week/last? i have an ultrasound and NST tomorrow. Praying things are going okay. My fasting blood sugar has been high this week so worried I'll need medication.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? hmm, not today.

    6) GTKY:
Share three fall favorites in no particular order.  (And if you hate fall or autumn just isn't your season, share three gripes) pumpkin pie, bars, basically everything! Trips to pumpkin patches/apple orchards, I need to make a trip down to my college campus its full of the most beautiful maple trees..love when the leaves change to fall colors!

@djd0404 side sleeping is so hard for me too. Sleeping is my favorite thing ever and is starting to feel like a chore.
  • @ngarciabyu I feel you about shaving. This morning I got up extra early to shave my legs bc they itched so bad last night. I was a little disappointed when my husband didn't praise my efforts enough.

On the size front I'm kind of still just looking fat instead of pregnant, at least to myself, so I feel like the sympathy factor is low. That makes it awkward when people see me on the floor of our office in child's pose bc my back and pelvis feel like they are breaking. All the barfing has made me lose so much weight I'm mostly wearing the same clothes so I just kind of lost weight all over then got back to fat in the gut. It's awkward and I long for the cute pregnant belly and people that can actually tell. Although I'd lose my mind if someone told me I looked like I was going to pop, so I am with you ladies in spirit.

    1) How far along are you? How big is baby? 28/ eggplant

    2) How are you feeling? I am a big hypochondriac so take this with a grain of salt... I have self diagnosed symphysis pubis dysfunction. It feels like my pubic bone is breaking in half. I had (dr diagnosed) preexisting back issues pre-pregnancy in the form of 3 bulging lumbar discs and bursitis in my hips so I really don't need any more physical pain in that region. Emotionally I'm kind of a mess. Last night I had a big meltdown along the lines of 'I am having a child in 84 days and have no idea how to be a mother'. I always battle anxiety, and doing it without medication is taxing. My husband is a saint.

    3) Are you having/have you had a shower or sprinkle?
    November 19

    4) Any appointments this week/last? Friday I had an ultrasound, glucose test, saw my doctor and got my flu shot. No results on glucose test yet but my baby is measuring 3 days behind gestational age and I've only lost weight so my doctor says he can't imagine I fail.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? any tips anyone has on dealing with the 'idk how to be a mom' anxiety that I mentioned above would be greatly appreciated.

    6) GTKY:
Share three fall favorites in no particular order.  (And if you hate fall or autumn just isn't your season, share three gripes!) Fall is ok I guess. I do feel like I typically am more fashionable because it's more comfortable to wear more clothing. Watching the leaves turn is also nice. I also enjoy the reduction in bugs following the first hard freeze; patiently awaiting that in MO!

  • @kln62689 Unfortunately I don't have any good advice for you about the anxiety you're feeling, but please know you're not alone. I also have no idea how I'm going to figure any of this out, but I'm hoping the classes I'm signed up for this month will help me feel a bit more in control. Best wishes to you, I'm sure you're going to do great. <3

  • Ladies, I've been a bad bumper lately... I'm sorry!!

    1) How far along are you
? How big is baby? 29 weeks, baby is an acorn squash

    2) How are you feeling? I'm feeling pretty good, heartburn has been fierce the last couple of days, though...

    3) Are you having/have you had a shower or sprinkle?
My family is throwing me a baby shower on October 29th... I'm very excited to get thins situated in the nursery!!

    4) Any appointments this week/last? I saw my OB on Tuesday, they said my uterine measurement is 2 weeks ahead of EDD so I have an ultrasound on Wednesday for an estimated fetal weight... they've also bumped me up to appointments every two weeks at the OB so I will be back there next Tuesday...

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? I was very excited to hear that I passed my GD test and that my iron was very good... no extra supplement for me!!
I haven't felt the baby move much today, so I just drank a bunch of water and am waiting to feel some action...

    6) GTKY:

  • @wabash15 congrats on VBAC! it's a no for me, but i have other complications besides being a straight-up poor candidate.

@djd0404 no joke, side sleeping was such a trial to me my first pregnancy that i legit started training myself to sleep on my side way early this time around. like when we started TTC. when you get used to it BEFORE you are super large and uncomfortable it really helps a whole lot! i'm really glad i decided to do that, i'm sleeping much better this time and not as sore. i still prefer to be a corpse-like back sleeper, though.

@ngarciabyu LOL. don't quote me on this but i believe waxing is more than fine. also ditto on size comments, as per my story in the "shit people say to pregnant women" thread. you can't make this crap up.

@kersey0208 i'm sorry your family are being twats. i hope you get more support soon and that your NSTs are short, sweet, and to the point each time.

@kln62689 i know this will likely be of little consolation to you, but it really makes a difference when there is a real live baby in your arms. this waiting is hard, and it all is theoretical. however, and don't take this the wrong way, if you already struggle with anxiety and are aware of it, i hope you are open to having a conversation (preferably now, and have it be ongoing) with your OB and your PCP to manage your care as you enter your postpartum stage. medication can really help you in the crazy hormonal time when everything is wonky and then when you are struggling with lack of sleep and coming to a new normal (an ever-changing normal, that is) with new motherhood. i hope your DH is a great support to you.

@kdestito an LOL in advance for your weight measurement US. they can be SO OFF in the third tri. last time at 41 w they estimated a 10.5 lb baby...he came out a few days later barely over 7 lbs! he had a huge head so it threw the estimate completely off. this time around they are making sure to do all my estimates based on an average of many body parts, not just the head size, as this current LO is also showing a head in the 100th percentile and it skews the estimate by a lot. so head size is two or three weeks ahead but the other body parts are say 3-5 days ahead.

  • Okay, I'm late even though I started the thread! Ha!

@wabash15 Props to you and your VBAC! That is awesome.

@ngarciabyu I'm the opposite; I feel like this is my chance to not shave and I'm taking it!

@kln62689 I am also looking a bit small for how far along I am. I past the just looking fat stage, but I look more like 24 weeks or so. When people ask me when I'm due and I tell them, I most frequently here, "so soon?!?" as a response. I measure small for DD, too, so I'm trying not to let it freak me out. As for the anxiety, I agree with

@anewadventure that the anxiety os hard to stop before actually having a baby. even then, there might still be anxiety, but making sure you have a good support group (friends, mom, sister, etc. with experience) or even an actual mom's group will help. I made a friend through nextdoor when DD was 3-4 months and we hung out nearly daily. It was a lifesaver since I wasn't a part of a formal mom's group. She already had a toddler, so she was supportive and knowledgable!

    1) How far along are you
    ? How big is baby?
    30 weeks, zucchini or cabbage

    2) How are you feeling?
alright. Mild cramping if i haven't had enough water. low energy/productivity most of the time.

    3) Are you having/have you had a shower or sprinkle?
nope. I'm a STM, and have most of what I need!

    4) Any appointments this week/last?
tomorrow! It's actually my last appt. with my OB who is moving, which I am bumbed about.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
I am with you ladies on the sleep stuff. Last night I kept waking up on my back. My big ass body pillow makes the covers get all tangled and I end up without covers most nights. My dreams have also been absurd lately. Rave: New TV seasons are starting! Stoked about Poldark, This is Us, and Jane the Virgin. My DVR is about o get filled up!

I'm near SF, CA so we don't have drastic seasonal changes, and actually the weather is pretty warm here still.  I love halloween, though, and even though I don't decorate my house I love seeing what people do to decorate! I also love gearing up for Thanksgiving and collecting recipes for it. I'm not huge on pumpkin flavor stuff, but I do love fall vegetables in general. I am just ready for the weather to actually get cooler, which is probably another 4 weeks out.

  • @djd0404 I am with you on the sleep thing, I am usually a back sleeper and my ears/shoulders/hips get so sore sleeping on my side even with extra pillows. Last time I had to move to our guest bed which is foam and it helped some.  Actually what I do now is put a flatter pillow under my right side so I'm not laying completely on my back but I'm not on my side either and its helping.
@ngarciabyu I ask DH to help... thankfully he's pretty game. He's been painting my toenails for a while now too.
@kersey0208 hugs, our bodies are changing so much and dealing with BS on top of it sucks.
@kln62689 sorry about the back issues, pregnancy is so far from glamorous.  I'm a STM and i'm still not ready for this little one to be here any time soon. How the hell is 3 going to work? one thing I have learned is you just make it happen, its not always pretty but that's ok. just love that little one and put one foot in front of the other.
@anewadventure motherhood is weird. I can't wait to have a tiny froggy baby again! on the upside for a planned c-section you know whats coming. I feel like a FTM having no clue!

  • @anewadventure I really appreciate your candid comments on my anxiety challenges.  I am really thankful for my self awareness on the topic because it has enabled me to be honest and open with my OB and PCP about both my struggle to manage without meds while pregnant, and also my concern that I am at risk for more significant post partum issues because I am already predisposed to these challenges. DH and I have also had a lot of conversations about red flags and monitoring plans especially for the weeks immediately following delivery. We are still working on his plans for leave from work, but I am counting on him and he knows it.

@wabash15 I may have to paint that on a wall or something, 'just love that little one and put one foot in front of the other'. Today LOs coming home outfits arrived in the mail, one says 'hello world; i am new here', and the other says 'making spirits bright' and has these cute little Santa faces on the pants.  The cruddy attitude from my work day melted away and all i could think about was how incredibly this tiny thing is going to rock my world.  I am optimistic that once the baby gets here I will be too busy / tired / doughy eyed to worry about anything other than getting through the day.  Only 83 days to go :)
