Kasia/Karina/Katerina

If baby number #2 is a girl, we were thinking about the name Kasia. We are both of Eastern European decent, and Kasia is a very popular girls name in Poland (its typically a nickname for Katerina and the Polish form of Katherine). It is pronounced KA-sha. (Like the name Sasha but with a K.

Can Kasia stand on its own, or should we do more of a formal name like Karina or Katerina and use Kasia as a nickname? If your preference is for formal, do you like Karina or Katerina better? Middle name suggestions are also welcomed.

I knew a Cassia and never thought her name was too informal (different spellings but same pronunciation).

i prefer Kasia to the full names because anything that sounds close to Katrina still has a strong hurricane association for me.

I like the formal Katerina name and then you can use Kasia as a nn. I personally would not have pronounced Kasia as KA-sha. Probably more like Ca(as in cat)-see-a.

I love Kasia and think it's fine on it's own. I will say Karina and Katerina are gorgeous too though.

I always vote for having a formal name, because it gives more options for the person to go by later.

Kasia seems like a stand-alone name to me.

I think it can stand alone. But I would have pronounced it “kass-ee-ah”. She may have to correct people, but since that’s just me not being Eastern European, 8 don’t consider that a deal breaker
