Any appointments this week/last? I actually had a day full of appointments yesterday. I have mixed reviews. So, the great news is my cervix length is really good at a 4 (whoop!), however my iron is low again, so I need to take an iron supplement AND i failed my 1 hour glucose test with a 178 (cutoff is 131). I ate so much better with my twins and was 1 point away and I know I have been eating terribly with this one, so I guess I'm not too surprised. I know there are a few of you in here that have had to do the 3 hour or have GD. What have they said you need to do? Is it mainly just eating better?
GTKY: Have you started to nest yet or set up the babies nursery? I have been thinking about prepping our room for the baby, however once I start nesting I'm worried the baby will come. With my twins, I nested hardcore around 29/30 weeks and the boys came at 31. The old wives tale is that when you start nesting you are really getting ready for their arrival... I'm so not ready for that yet!!
What rants/raves/questions/advice? Just the questions above... Also...anyone else on the minivan train? I test drove one yesterday and thought, I've officially hit the mom status now. I don't know whether to laugh or cry!
@tmk0325 I have GD and I ate VERY well prior to my diagnosis, so eating better for me was not a solution. A solution was actually eating MORE carbs because I wasn't eating enough. I am on insulin because there is nothing else I can do diet wise to control my blood sugar. I think a lot of the time it doesn't matter if you eat super healthy, it's all about how your pancreas is working with the placenta(s). Don't be too hard on yourself. I blamed myself at first but when I realized I was actually not eating enough carbs (paired with protein), and my numbers were still awful, I realized it wasn't my fault. If you do fail the 3 hour test, hopefully you can be controlled by diet or oral meds and not have to take insulin. I will say, the insulin is not bad at all--I'm taking 4 injections a day right now, and will likely add another at lunch in the next few weeks as my pregnancy continues to progress. Hoping you pass the 3 hour!

Any appointments this week/last? I had an appointment with the gestational diabetes specialist on Monday, and OB appointment on Friday.
GTKY: Have you started to nest yet or set up the babies nursery? The nursery is done and we are finalizing the play room, and hope to be finished in the next 1-2 weeks!
What rants/raves/questions/advice? Rant: I've been having back pain and pain under my bump--I think I'm just trying to stretch more, and there isn't much room for stretching left! Rant: I ordered a glider last week after hearing about an amazing sale at Walmart and apparently it was a glitch and my order got cancelled. I knew it was too good to be true! Rave: We are having a couples shower this weekend to watch a football game. Our friends are amazing and are throwing us an amazing diaper/book shower! Since being on bed rest, I don't get out much except to see different doctors, so I am excited to see people outside of my house!

@tmk0325 I'm glad that your cervix is measuring long! That sucks about the other tests. Hopefully, you won't need insulin shots. Also, I totally agree with @beary67, there is nothing you can do to prevent GD so don't blame yourself.
@beary67 Wow, you have to take 3-4 shots per day??? You are my hero! That's a lot to me and I'm not even afraid of needles. I hope you enjoy your shower. My shower is this weekend and I'm pretty excited about it.
How far along are you?
28+3 with di/di twins
Any appointments this week/last?
I have a growth scan on Wednesday. I'm excited and anxious to see them because I lost my mucus plug on Sunday. All checked out fine at the hospital, but I'll feel better after seeing them on the scan.
GTKY: Have you started to nest yet or set up the babies nursery?
OMG, we haven't even cleared out the room we plan to use for the nursery. I have a feeling we will be working on it after the twins are born.
What rants/raves/questions/advice? Rant: I was terrified when I lost my mucus plug, but I know my babies aren't ready to come out yet so I need to stop worrying.
Rave: My SO has been taking great care of me so I can rest and stay off my feet as much possible. The docs didn't suggest bed rest, but it calms both of our minds.
ETA: Another rave: I took an Epsom salt bath last night and I slept so good last night!
@tmk0325 Sorry about your 1 hour test . I hope you pass your 3 hour! I haven't jumped on the minivan train yet, but suspect I will when/if we decide to have a 3rd. @beary67 yay for getting out of the house! How's bedrest going? Are you super bored yet or are you doing ok? Have a great shower! @clovelyone Sorry About your mucas plug! Haha here's a sentence I never thought I'd type. I'm glad that everything checked out ok though. But wow how scary that must have been!
How far along are you? 26+3
Any appointments this week/last? Had an Appt today and yesterday. Babies are great, no signs of TTTS or anything like that, and they're super cute and look like actual BABIES! Baby A was opening and closing her mouth during today's US. It was really cool!
GTKY: Have you started to nest yet or set up the babies nursery? Almost able to start nesting. We're moving into our new house this Friday, so I'll start having my husband out the furniture together and stuff next week! Their room is getting painted tonight. I can't wait to see it - is a soft light pink called Gentle Butterfly by Benjamin Moore. Super cute but not overly pink.
What rants/raves/questions/advice? Raves are that the babies are doing so well. That makes me so happy during this chaotic bullshit of remodeling and moving. My life is going to be really hectic for a couple of weeks here, so that's my rant. Moving into an active construction zone while 6 months pregnant is not my idea of fun, but I'd rather it be now than when the babies are actually here. Omg another rave is that my doctor is signing off for me to get a temporary handicapped placard! And she says she'll extend it for after the babies are born. Yes! No questions right now I guess.
@tmk0325- Fingers crossed for that 3 hr test! I elected to control with diet and monitor blood sugar with my son, and it worked for us.
We are definitely on the minivan train. I ended up with a '16 Town & Country, which I love. Happy car shopping!
@beary67- The showers sound fabulous! The cabin fever, not so much. Can't wait to hear how the playroom turns out!
@clovelyone- The plug can regenerate, right? Thanks for the memory jog about the Epsom bath. I'll have to try that, sleep is getting elusive.
@breezybee- Yay for paint! And yay for finally getting to move! I'm sorry it's so chaotic, but sounds like babies are doing great.
How far along are you?
I'm 27+3. Babies theoretically the size of lettuce, but still measuring ahead. Drat my giant husband!
Any appointments this week/last?
Last week's is on the last week thread, but am scheduled for a 3/4D ultrasound this Sunday. My parents and in-laws, as well as hubby and kiddo, are anxious to see the girls. I'm hoping they cooperate. Gianna, aka baby B, is likely to be our wild card as usual.
GTKY: Have you started to nest yet or set up the babies nursery?
Nursery is almost done. I still have projects to finish, but here's a peek at what we have so far:
What rants/raves/questions/advice?
Combo rant/rave- decided to take a few days and hang with my bestie in Carmel-by-the-Sea. It's been wonderful, weather is gorgeous, and my sweet kiddo is staying with Grandma and Grandpa overnight while I relax a bit.
First time he's been away from hubby and I overnight, but we thought we should do a trial run before the girls get here. I'm having fun, but miss my guys so much! Grandma reports he is doing great, and my husband went over for dinner tonight to see our bug. So I got a sweet video call.
@jennasaisquoi love the babies room! How cute! And what an adorable little man you have. Glad to hear things are going well . Carmel is soooooo just what the doctor ordered. Maybe I'll head out there soon too!
@ jennaisquoi Your nursery and your little dude are super cute.
@cloverlyone I'm glad that the babies are staying put! Let's keep growing these munchkins. Also I totally need to pick up some epsom salts and I've been dreaming about a much, much bigger tub lately. : )
@breezybee I'm so excited and relieved for you that the remodel is now on the downhill slide. It has been satisfying to slowly watch the nursery evolve. We've got all the basic stuff done, except for the closet reorganization/remodel. I want to add some shelving and a double hanging rod.
@tmk0325 Sorry about the three hour test. That bites. There is no rhyme or reason I think on who ends up with GD. Once of my besties is two weeks ahead of me, eats clean, works out all the time, and miserably failed her test.
I'm 28+3 with the twins. Lots and lots of movement lately and for the first time DH felt them rocking and rolling last night. We looked at each other and both our eyes filled up.
I'm feeling super blessed right now. Our shower is in two weeks for friends and family and my work is throwing me a shower on the 18th of Oct. My Dad is getting excited but he is such a worrier. He's telling me that the babies need to stay in to at least the end of Oct. Like telling me and the babies is going to actually keep them inside me longer. : ) He's cute.
I'm in full on nesting/cleaning mode at this point though. My goal is one room per weekend until they are here. Then I'm going to have someone come in and deep clean for me. I'm hoping for carpets and baseboards and windows. I need to take down the bay window curtains and wash and rehang them (black cat hair problem all along the bottom).
Rave: My brother, the youngest of us four, is now officially engaged. I'm so happy for him and can't wait to meet her, they are coming to my shower together!
Rant: I've got numb fingertips, especially in my right hand, pregnancy carpal tunnel I'm thinking. And my work thinks that just because the date now says fall that they can turn up the air conditioning in Texas. Don't you people know how HOT I am ALL THE TIME. Sorry to get all capsie.
@clovelyone the needles are super tiny and nothing compared to what I was doing for IVF, so it's not too bad. Have fun at your shower!!
@breezybee bed rest is pretty boring, but I'm doing ok. Luckily my work is letting me work from home, so I stay occupied during the week. I don't know if I'm getting sore from sitting all day or from being pregnant with twins. Good luck with the move!!! I can't believe you are moving Friday--hoping you don't have to lift a finger!
@jennasaisquoi We did our 4d just shy of 27 weeks and they were amazing pics! Baby B is always our wildcard, too! I hope you get some great images!
@stella_700 the pregnancy carpal tunnel is REAL! It's awful. I sleep in medical wrist band things and most of the day I wear one on my left hand. I'm left handed so writing thank you notes for our showers has been a real treat

@beary67 Its probably a combination of both! I get sore just lying on one side for an hour now. I'm glad you've got stuff to keep you busy during the week. I won't be moving a single thing! I've got movers the whole day and I plan on directing them every step of the way. Easy! Theoretically lol.
@tmk0325 My DH has actually jumped on the minivan train, but I'm a little more hesitant! I told him if at some point we get one he'll need to be the primary driver because I don't like driving large vehicles.
@beary67 I have the back pain and some under bump pain too. I've received suggestions to try one of those maternity belts, but I haven't gotten one yet. Have you given one a try?
@clovelyone I hope your scan went well today! I always feel better after I get to see my LOs.
@breezybee That's awesome about the handicap pass! I've been thinking of asking my OB about getting one as well. I need to get the paperwork from the DMV.
@jennasaisquoi I have a giant husband and giant babies too. I feel your pain!
@stella_700 That's so exciting about your brother! My sister is engaged and getting married next June. She's having a super tiny wedding (immediate family only), but I have actually convinced her to allow me to dress our twins up as animals in her wedding... the ring bear-er and the flower squirrel lol!
How far along are you?
27+4, third trimester!!!
Any appointments this week/last?
I have an OB appointment tomorrow and I think I'll be getting my GD test done in the next week probably along with some blood work.
GTKY: Have you started to nest yet or set up the babies nursery?
We still need to paint the nursery before moving anything in, but my mom's going to come down to help with that next weekend. Almost all the furniture is painted and our glider is supposed to be delivered on Monday! It should all be coming together soon!!!
What rants/raves/questions/advice? Rave: DH has just been great lately and I'm just feeling happy in general, despite the lameness of pregnancy symptoms. Rant: Seriously, wtf is up with this heat?! This is supposed to be the best time of year in CT, but it was 90 degrees this weekend! I want my nice cool fall weather! Question: Has anyone else temporarily changed their sleeping arrangements (aka moved to a different bed)? I moved to my guest bedroom recently because it has a better mattress (my giant husband has made ours slope heavily toward the floor) and there's more room to sprawl (though I do share the bed with my dog). I feel a little weird about sleeping separately from DH, but I think we're both sleeping better now in different rooms.
How far along are you? 30+3, babies are just huge at this point
Any appointments this week/last?
Yesterday had a visit with my OB. We talked about my birth plan, or lack of one really. I'd like to deliver vaginally with an epidural, but in reality I'm pretty much ok with whatever it takes to get them out safely as possible. She told me I'd deliver in an operating room, with anesthesiologist in the room, and we'll do a scan right before to check babies positions. Baby A has been head down from what I can tell in the US, but her last report from MFM said "variable" and I'm not quite sure what that means. Any way, I'm just thankful DH will be in there with me the whole time. Sending in my hospital registration this week!
GTKY: Have you started to nest yet or set up the babies nursery? I started nesting about 2 months ago, just bc I knew I'd be exhausted at this stage, and I'm glad I did. There's a bunch of stuff in the crib, but we've got it set up, dresser, glider, etc all done.
What rants/raves/questions/advice? Raves: We took maternity photos this past weekend. I definitely out grew my photographer who is 36 weeks with a singleton! We should have the photos in the next few days! My work surprised me with a mini-shower during our potluck yesterday! They decorated a conference room with pink and blue balloons and crepe paper, we all ate lunch, and opened a couple presents (diapers). My DH works at the same company, so he got to join as well! Also got a visa giftcard which is awesome, and one of my co-workers made a sugar free dessert for me. My big shower is this weekend, so I'm super excited for that too! AND it's my DH's 30th birthday tomorrow. He's going camping this weekend to celebrate, but I'm at a loss for what to do tomorrow. He works nights, and I can't have cake/sweets, so the traditional dinner out and birthday cake isn't going to fly. I thought about picking up some lingerie, but I'm basically the size of a beach ball and not sure that would actually be sexy lol.
Only Rant is work is just dumb lately. No one can make up their damn mind, so this project I'm running is falling flat. I really can't wait to be on leave at this point!
On mobile, so really hard to follow up on everyone else's posts I do want to say that having the handicap placard has been a blessing! Mine doesn't expire until Feb, I highly suggest just asking your OB!
@jennasaisquoi The midwife at the Triage said it doesn't regenerate, but I may not have lost it all. Plus, she said it doesn't necessarily mean that I will have preterm labor.
You've got a cute little guy there!
@stella_700 That's so cool your DH could feel the babies!
@beary67@breezybee I'm definitely super uncomfortable no matter what I do. That Epsom salt bath is the only thing that helped me sleep better.
@KathrynJ088 I say get the lingerie. He'll like it.
I had my ultrasound today and the babies are doing fine. I love seeing them bouncing around. They are a little concerned that baby girl is a lot smaller than baby boy (2 lbs 1 oz vs 2 lbs 11 oz) so they want to monitor baby girl once a week. All of the things I Googled show she's right around where she should be, but he's on the bigger side and she's on the lower side. Baby girl also has a velamentous cord insertion so they want to keep an eye on that too.
@leilagphillips I've been in a maternity belt since 16 weeks! I don't know what I would do without it. The pain lately has been happening even when wearing the belt.
@clovelyone my twins have always measured differently, too. They've been following their growth and they grow proportionality to one another, so they aren't concerned, but are still watching it. At our 28 week scan, Baby A was 2lbs12oz and Baby B was 2lbs4oz.

I also love checking in here. The support helps through a single pregnancy, its doubly helpful for a multiple pregnancy.
So I had a good appointment yesterday. Bp is staying in the good range, weight is good, babies weigh 2.5 lbs apiece now. Baby B still is hidden way down in my pelvis so the best he could do was heart, head, and femur measurements. Still they are growing well, we just might have to wait till these babies are born before we can confirm sex for both of them. : )
I am wearing a wrist brace for the numbness in my fingertips though. Not too bad to sleep with, really annoying to try and type with. It would be my dominant hand. Its a small thing compared to the good news from the appointment. My breast pump should be on its way! Got a list of pediatricians to look through. I think I already know which one I'm going with though.
I think I'm surprising my OB with how smoothly the pregnancy is going. She said I'm rocking it. : ) I always thought that if I could just get pregnant I'd be okay. Just had to go around those pesky mechanical tube issues.
Its Friday ladies. What is everyone doing to celebrate the weekend?
@stella_700 I'm glad your appointment went well and that your OB is so happy with your progress!
Yom Kippur starts tonight, so I'll be going to services tonight and tomorrow. Normally I'd be fasting from sundown to sundown, but pshhh I'm pregnant with twins, so f that! I'll be eating whenever I feel like it tomorrow, but I'll still be going to my grandparents' house for break fast tomorrow night since the food is awesome.
I have to say, after seeing all of your baby weights/measurements for your 28 week scans, I'm freaking out a little because my babies were measuring about the same as yours at 26 weeks. Also, yesterday my OB told me that big babies can be an indicator of GD, so I'll be getting tested for that in the next few days. Hopefully on Sunday if the lab is open.
@leilagphillips for almost 29 weeks we are on track weight wise, I've already passed my GD test. : ) Good luck on yours. : ) Enjoy your family and the holiday! Blessings to you and yours.
Ladies I posted this on the tdap/flu shot thread also but any DFW Texas moms might want to get their flu shot sooner rather than later. My OB reported that TCU has/is having a flu outbreak with over 100 students already positive for influenza. Eek, that seems early. The nurses at the clinic literally gave each other flu shots yesterday morning when they heard! As I work in a collegiate environment also we took care of that yesterday! : )
Oh man. I wanted to get the flu shot through work last week but they cancelled them too not having enough supply. My doctor didn't offer it up either only the tdap, so I'm not sure if it's even going to be available. Thankfully my boys got theirs though at their last doctor appointment. I'm so not looking forward to cold and flu season starting. Last year was miserable and at least one of them was always sick. If you don't have a nose Frida I highly suggest registering for one!
@tmk0325 So we registered for a Nose Frida, but I was going through some second hand baby stuff a friend gave us the other day and she'd put one in there along with a pack of filters. I'm kind of grossed out by the idea of using a used one even though it looked clean. What do you guys think? Am I overreacting or is that gross and I should just get a new one?
@leilagphillips I’m not a huge germaphobe, but I think this might be something you would want new unless you’re able to completely sterilize it? We have one in the box still so I haven’t looked to see what it really even looks like or entails. @tmk0325 should know better!
As for me: c-section is scheduled for November 24th. Now I’m keeping my fingers crossed I can keep these babies where they are for 8 more weeks. If not, it’s no problem! They will move up the date but if I can make it to 38 weeks, that’s my goal!

I've been MIA for quite a while because I'm training my temporary replacement annnnnd let's just say I don't exist after 6pm. I get what I can done around the house after a 50 hour week and lift those feet! No more salt for me, holy cow! I agree with all you ladies, even though I'm not on here much, you guys are so uplifting and I feel so welcomed Thank you!
How far along are you? 25+2, the size of cauliflowers. OY!
Any appointments this week/last? No and I miss seeing them already. I have one on Wednesday so yay
GTKY: Have you started to nest yet or set up the babies nursery? Yes, it's to the point DH wants to focus on hunting season and I'm all you have zero days left mister! We have baseball Mondays and Wednesdays so that leaves Tuesday and Thursday and normally he's doing stuff, helping other people. Such a big heart, but inconvenient right now LOL SO much stuff to do. I wish I had energy to put anything together. You ladies inspire me
What rants/raves/questions/advice?
Rant: Hunting Season, all for it but it's really cutting into October planning now. Grr.... hopefully he gets a buck today!
Raves: Aside from the symptoms...I'm in LOVE with being pregnant. I'll definitely miss it but they are kicking, moving and dancing like crazy!
@britmanering73 ugh I can relate to the hunting season. My SO has a bear tag and has been out hunting at least one night and week or more and it's driving me nuts. I can't wait til it ends. Then deer season starts in November. I honest to god hope I make it past deer season because if this baby is born then it'll never have a normal birthday.
As for the nose frida, I think if you sanitize it in boiling water or one of the medela bags it would be fine and use new filters!
@britmanering73 I feel the same way about pregnancy aside from the symptoms. My latest symptom, I'm literally peeing every 10-30 min. If I haven't peed, it's because I'm trying to hold it. It's really messing up my sleep but I did get a few hours in without getting up to pee.
ETA: I forgot to say that I love checking in with you ladies every week too. This is a great group.
I am so late to the party! I was gone at a conference last week and it was hard to keep up. This is an amazing group and one of my favorite check ins! MoM's are amazing women! @leilagphillips I moved to the guest bed with the twins. our mattress is fine when I'm not pregnant but when i am my hips and shoulders would hurt so bad, plus getting up 10 times a night to pee or insomnia I didn't want to keep DH up. I think we were both more comfortable in the end, though it was nice to go back to our bed once the twins were born. @clovelyone my twins were often different sizes and it wasn't uncommon for them to be 8-12 oz different, then the next month be closer together then be farther apart at the next check. As long as they are growing I wouldn't worry too much. @tmk0325 +1000 for the nose frieda... man I don't think we could live with out ours. we use it so much the twins hold it while we suck and or request it. @beary67 you can do it! bake babies bake! @stella_700 DH just got to feel this one move this weekend, its such a magical thing to share.

I'm 27+3. Babies theoretically the size of lettuce, but still measuring ahead. Drat my giant husband!

I won't be moving a single thing! I've got movers the whole day and I plan on directing them every step of the way. Easy! Theoretically lol.
GTKY: Have you started to nest yet or set up the babies nursery?
30+3, babies are just huge at this point
@breezybee I'm glad you're ready for the move.
@beary67 @breezybee I'm definitely super uncomfortable no matter what I do. That Epsom salt bath is the only thing that helped me sleep better.
@leilagphillips Brownie points for your hubby.
@clovelyone my twins have always measured differently, too. They've been following their growth and they grow proportionality to one another, so they aren't concerned, but are still watching it. At our 28 week scan, Baby A was 2lbs12oz and Baby B was 2lbs4oz.

As for the weekend, no plans here!

As for the nose frida, I think if you sanitize it in boiling water or one of the medela bags it would be fine and use new filters!
@stella_700 I'm glad your appointment went well.
@leilagphillips I hope your GD test goes well.
